  • 06:31 HE SAID FUUUU

  • Fuck, who else is sick of the swoosh sounds?

  • 4:30 This is how I smell my own farts

  • If it were me swinging these sharp weapons, after only 10 seconds, I would have already ripe myself to shreds.

  • @Okerokeka the swooshing shounds isnt added its actualy because of the robes and how fast there arms feet and every thing else are cutting the air

also did they say dragon since when is a dragon an animal

  • @magua1354544545 are u fucking dumb they are added its so easy to hear and every movement has the same sound so how could they not be added?

  • you ever heard of ip man dumbass true story he beat twister a famous boxer so if a regular kung fu master can beat a master of course a shoalin monk can beat a ufc fighter dummy

  • a lot of westerners don't know shit when it comes to shaolin kung fu and they always have to bring up this ufc shit. technique-wise, a lot of ufc fighting is just brainless brawling. a well-trained shaolin monk could easily control a ufc fighter's movements with his structure. strength-wise, a shaolin monk's lifelong and specific training does not only allow the muscle to put out enormous strength, but his muscle, bone, tendon, and joints all could put out more torque and reistance to pain.

  • why is the metal so flimsy?

  • @FogiTofu I think it's because thicker metal is more expensive but I didnt look it up or anything.

  • @FogiTofu They use a thinner metal which is flimsier so it does less damage to your body when you get impacted by it. Think about it, would you want a 1lb dull edge hitting you, or a 3lb or more edge hitting you?

  • @FogiTofu

The flimsy metal has nothing to do with the cost of metal or the damage it does in two person sparring. Basically weapons like that were developed for modern Wushu form display. the metal is flexible so that it can "show the power" running through the blade. It also makes it much lighter and the flex dampens the inertia allowing it to be swung faster and in tighter motions than could be done with a traditional weapon.

  • @FogiTofu

Weapons like this are a recent development, no historical Chinese weapons had floppy blades. Body armor was very common in China up through the 1800's. A sword would have to be stiff enough to pierce through most body armor to be considered a decent weapon. With the increase in interest in traditional kungfu I think more people will realize how unrealistic these weapons are for training, and how completely ridiculous they look.

  • realistically, i didnt learn anything from these videos,

  • Always find this MMA talk , but as someone said in a real fight u dont fight as in ufc tthrow punches and than back off , rounds of certain time. Real fight u are defending ur life , the instinct of survival kicks in. of course a UFC fighter is better prepared than the regular person in the street. But to say kung fu is bs in real fight , when it originated out there in the nature is too much.

  • 6:50 I know Kung Fu is bullshit in terms of real fighting. But its the coolest looking of all the styles. Kung Fu is the father of all style. Kung FU was first.

  • I'm really pissed at National Geographic right now for putting in those swooshing sounds for EVERYTHING they did.

  • i want to see a shaolin guy fighting a ufc guy.

  • @gongxia649 I think a shaolin monk would probably lose an ufc ring fight. But that would be because the purpose of a ring fight is very distant from that of shaolin kung fu. Shaolin kung fu has nothing to do with measuring who's better. It has to do with devotion. Picture the following situation: there's a buddhist relic, and a monk protecting it. An ufc fighter has to defeat the monk and steal it. The fighter wouldn't have a chance.

  • @changantonio a lot of the strictly defence based martial artists would lose in a ufc ring fight... because there are rules. The kung fu, Ninjutsu, krav maga, etc etc dont have rules. They will most likey lose in the ring, as you said, but the ufc fighter will most likely lose outside the ring in real combat.... pretty much what you alluded to in the relic example.

  • @changantonio I think that shaolin monks also train to hit vital spots (kicking out knees, crotch shots, hitting throats with strikes) and would win in a no rules fight...

  • @changantonio how can you think that though? all these flashy forms mean nothing in a real fight.i have only seen one video of a monk in a actual fight. and all he really did was stand there and evade. what reasonable knowlege do you have that the mma fighter would be totally blown out of the water? i have found none

  • Yeah... Can the monk use the weapon at :54 in the UFC fight? lol MMA is a sport, Shaolin Kung fu is for defending people. It was born out of NEED, and if your shit didn't work you got killed. I am in Shaolin Kempo (Which is a mix of Shaolin animal styles, Karate and Jujitsu) and I have done MMA too, but Kempo is my favorite. There's moves in Shaolin like grabbing people's throat/groin with "tiger claws" or picking people up sideways and slamming their spine on your knee... They dead... o.O

  • @changantonio a buddhist monk wouldnt ever fight in a ufc fight..

  • Flimsy blades are lame. Someone needs to buy the Shaolin some combat steel weapons.

  • this documentary is awesome but man 7:37 hahahaha wooow thats so gay

  • @BootyBot lol yeah. I thought he was dancing or so xD

  • i hope people do not get confused with the pudao and the kwandao

  • i would have watched the whole 5 parts of this documentary but the excessive fake whacking noise is really getting on my nerves. too bad. shaolin is impressive

  • Awww, you poor thing, Boldemuesli.

  • @AppleSouffle I know. Life is sooo harsh.

  • @boldemuesli I assume it's a Chinese documentary translated into English. There are a few things that kind of are weird. First off, the fake sounds. Secondly the lack of people wearing grey clothes. Most "monks" in Shaolin nowadays are actually artists for tourists. You need a special license to visit the actual monks & around the monestary are tons of wushu schools that just have fancy moves & that's it.

  • @GaolisVideoLog wow, I didn't know that. Thanks for making me smarter today :)

  • please get that karate shit outta here have u not learned nothing have u got eyes well obviously your eyes cant see properley i think one should be enough! :)

  • THE ONE

  • I never understood why their weapons are so thin? Are they just dummy weapons for training?

  • @Weston1968 yes the swords you see in the video are just for practice. In ancient China the real swords are lethal and swordsmen are considered the ultimate warriors of the society.

  • @byc181190 Thank you for the reply! Do you train in any form of Martial Art?

  • @Weston1968 lol nope but I'm of Chinese lineage so I know a bit about these stuff

  • @byc181190 I have been involved in a few over the years. Great fun & a big confidence boost. You should give it a go!

  • @Weston1968 lol yeap thinking of learning it

  • @byc181190 Try Wing Chun it's well worth giving a go & maybe Karate, Wado is very good. I started when I was 16 so now's the time! Good Luck!

  • its the blade of the sword cant you see how thin and flexible it is? almost paper thin why? i dont know.

  • 4:25 it is so hard to keep it like that

  • Why that annoying noise?

  • I am the ONE

  • @kylemillerphonehome and ı am the second..nice to meet you :)
