  • @guitardude5000 Well, you know some companies started doing them again like this. ;)

  • @guitardude5000

    They do...

  • @HeynesProductions would you happen to know where i can find a board like that? i'm not really sure what to search online to find a board like that

  • @skeeter42069

Check out storesDOTgreenbananaskateboardsDOTcom or dogtowns website. Or just search google. :P

  • @HeynesProductions alright thanks man, i appreciate it!

  • @HeynesProductions srry those boards aren't at all like the boards in the dogtown era. the boards that they rode were less than 7 inches wide and didn't have an angled kicktail. besides finding a good shaped/sized deck, it's also hard to find trucks small enough, otherwise you just gotta go wide and go with some trackers from the late 70s or something. caddy wheels are easy to find though, i love them they ride so smooth.

  • @Ryannnn29

They rode plenty of diffrent boards in the "dogtown era". Plastic bananaboards, boards cut out from solid pieces of wood with rollerskate trucks and wheels on them, plyboards with kicktails and so forth. You can find plenty of the reissues online, just search for "alva reissue" or "tunnel reissue"

  • @HeynesProductions yeah they did, but they didn't ride fatter boards until pool skating started and the kicktails they had were flat and not that angled of a tail. most of the re-issues are late 70s boards, which differ from the earlier boards. finding boards from the early/mid 70s before the skateboard explosion happened is very hard to find, obviously due to the absence of skateboard companies before skateboarding took up again.

  • @Ryannnn29

I agree, it's hard to find a reissue of a solid piece of wood some kid cut out with a band saw. However, that's not what we're debating. The late 70's boards where still part of the dogtown era, you can find reissues of them online, therefore you can find reissues of dogtown era boards online. See how that works?

Same thing with the banana board tony rides in the video, they're still out there. Just check out the site i linked in my second comment.

  • @HeynesProductions cool so you can find me a zephyr reissue? thanks bud

  • @Ryannnn29

Talk to skip at SMA or give a ring to the old zephyr shop. I think they both still sell em. God luck, douche!

  • @HeynesProductions not being a dick bud, just saying

  • @Ryannnn29

And by "just saying" you're being a dick. How parodoxal.

  • @guitardude5000 look up penny boards, might not be exactly the same but they are close.

  • @AlmostZachh Fuck penny board. cheap plastic shit -- not original to ride one of those (though they do function well). you just gotta know where to look to find a good skateboard, but best of all, just ask your parents friends, grandparents or old people in general. They got that shit up in the attic.

  • @guitardude5000 zipzingers!

  • tu crees que es aburrido, pero es sumamente complicado hacer algo en esas "Banana Boards" el Ollie lo invento Mullen hasta despues, esto es la escencia del skate, surfear.

  • es mas aburrido, no hacia ninguna cosa

  • were these videos on the dogtown and z-boys dvd where they show the raw footage becuase i couldnt find any videos of the enitre thing?

  • jay adams at the end.

  • Alva was always the best at walking spinners..

  • i suck at vert cutie,

but i suppose i hold my own,

    the kickflip comment,

i was just making a point.

  • each to their own m8, each to their own :pp

I don't like street all that much ;)

  • why does everyone keep thinking they're king of the world when they can do a kickflip. try vert for a change & see that you don't kill yourself after 5 mins ;))

  • wow your an idiot kickflips werent invented until 1984 9 years after this

  • shut the fuk up domconsiglio cuz without him an the rest of the z-boys skateboarding woulnt be wat it is know...thats not ther style anyway fagget they do this on the vid and sk8 pools u dumb bitch

  • what size boards did they use? and what kind of boards did they use?

  • a normal 70's board, something new school kids can't possibly ride anymore nowadays :))

  • sorry, I forgot to post the size: they mostly were 8 by 28" with hardly any heel to speak of

  • thanx for telling me, I really appreciate it...

  • I still use a 10 by 30" board myself, they kick ass

  • whoa thats super small... does it ride good?

  • actually its quite a big board, nowadays the boards usually are somewhere between 7 & 9"

but since I mainly skate pool & vert I'm loving my board coz its far more stable than most smaller ones

  • thats the size I think I'm going to get, but it might be hard to find...

  • not really, there's plenty of em on ebay, sometimes cheap, sometimes expensive.

    just keep an eye open

  • Near where I live stores sell boards that look like them, but with grip tape and such.

  • im 43 skate as much has possible, i do no old school wasnt my thing back then, i started in 75-6 to about 1979 stopped til 2 years ago now im into ollie culture stuff (hurts me knees though) you can still have style doing flips etc zekethegeke, Haslam? etc

  • thats the spirit m8, I'm 34 soon myself & I picked it back up last year. I'm still loving vert & pool though ;)

  • tODAY I WENT SKATEING AT A CHURCH PARKING LOT AND KEPT HEARING SOME FUCKIN RETARD FROM A HOUSE NEAR BYE TRYING TO GET MY ATTENTION TO STOP..I IGNORED THIS JUST WAITING FOR HIM TO COME UP ME AND MAKE ME STOP..

  • Alva and the DT guys blessed skating with something that permeated and changed the course of skateboarding; ATTITUDE! In your face, FU, I can F'n skate anything, anywhere I want, and kick your A at it. Ditches, banks, pools, walls, once benign objects, suddenly became places of worship. The skateboard became a platform for self expression, and rebellion. A new culture and an alternative identity was born. And it is this attitude, culture, and identity that attracts and drives todays skaters.

  • even though i wasnt even born at that time and im just a 12 year old i have a stupid ass modern board which i hate. i hate crap like ollies and kickflips. we should bring the old skool back instead of tony hawk lets say tony alva! who agrees??

  • I don't agree.

  • why???

  • hahaha please retard without old schoolers like tony alva u wouldnt have rodney mullen inventing those gay-ass tricks!

  • are you saying mullen sucks?

  • nobody said that, but without oldskool, there wouldn't be new school. be grateful to old guys (I'm 33 myself)who basically made skating to what it is today, otherwise you wouldn't be doing any at all m8. sure, I know the feeling when kids laugh at me for my old board (grosso '87), when I arrive at my local skatepark, but I just tell em I prolly skated with their dad when they were still in his pants (prolly slept with their mom too back then ;)).

  • no way i met rodney hes a cool guy...i just hate when people say hes the god of skating when the z-boys are! When i talked to rodney he agreed..i also met the z-boys and they still do their oldskool stuff

  • (tohearthug46) dude, rodney mullen and tony hawk and all the new skaters look up to these guys, dumbass

  • my bad, i misunderstood, i retire from posting comments, sorry dude.

  • Wtf dude your comment didn't make any sence and its alot harder now than back then plus more tricks... get with the times

  • he was at my school today.

  • Even if you dont like their style they still make you look like shit compared to them.

  • c) U wouldnt have ur f-in kickflip with people like Tony Alva, Stacey Peralta, Jay Adams and the rest of the Z-boys as they INVENTED modern sk8in. Sk8in wouldnt even be a sport now without them.

so yeah think before u right a bullshit comment like that

    asshole

  • ive gotta a few thing to say to this ass alex who obviusly know absolutly nothin about sk8in

  • well duh they cant do kickflips. those r cruiser boards. if u guys were smart and couldnt already figure that out

  • alex ur the only asshole on this chat thing

skating came from alva and peralta and adams

most of the tricks now came from oldschool

we pretty much r doing old school now adays

  • alex dumb fuck if they didnt do this they there wouldnt be skateboarding today, they cant do kick flips down 9 sets on those little boards

  • alex wanna know whats so amazing about it? ITS THAT LEGENDS SUCH AS TONY ALVA WHO PRACTICALLY INVENTED SKATEBOARDING, dont get the credit they deserve!

  • no they didnt

    they rode around

these days everyone has tight trucks and they boards have CURVES on them

    they didnt create skateboarding

  • come on man, ur telling me that skateboarding would be the same if those three guys didnt skate board?

  • they mad it better and u know it.

  • no thay just...made it addictive...and fun to watch...but vert is just as hot,but todays kick's are starting to look like yesterday's hand stands and nose wheelys...robotic...

  • OMG! alex u an idiot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • obviously alexmargera dont kno shit about skating.
