  • I still have my 2005 mini. i love it.

  • I used to have this, and everyone noticed it was tiny- Then.... I got a 24" imac, and now everyone says it's Huge- What an Irony!

  • Bring your own Display, Keyboard and Mouse. Epic!

  • I still have my original Mac Mini. 1GB RAM, with a 1.4 GHz PPC Processor

  • BYODKM LOL :D

  • 2005? I don't think that's right. I'm pretty sure this Mac Mini I'm typing on was last updated in 2004.

  • @Rifalltoo Mac mini was introduced in January 2005. Apple did have a small form-factor computer befofe the mini, the Powermac G4 Cube, but it was considerably more expensive.

  • @Zereniti77 Then why does my software update say 2004? Eh, I'm not going to worry about it. Probably just some freak weirdo incident with the internal clock.

  • @Rifalltoo I don't think that Software Update is saying what you think it's saying. Mac mini was released in January 2005. Don't believe me? Check Google, Wikipedia, Macrumors (check their news-archive)...

  • @Zereniti77 I know. It makes sense now. The mini's internal clock was mis-set, so it thought it was 2004 when it was upgraded. That was a bozo move on our part. Lol. I have a time machine.

  • Just re-watching this and thought… oh my! Steve's gone. Hope his great way of leading Apple never ends, and that Cook can be as good as Steve. =)

  • 40GB, oh damn. a quater of thts my music :L im getting the 2011 mac mini for xmas

  • RIP Steve Jobs ill always remember the iBook

  • keynotes will never be the same

  • Rest in Peace...but all those keynotes are sooooo ludacris. I wish I could tell the audience to chill out..

  • He should have called it the Mac Micro..R.I.P Steve Jobs!!

  • in a comedy film there was a guy cleaning his nose with a machine called - ipick.

  • we will miss you steve R.I.P

  • I love it how Steve says "Analogue and digital video out."

    RIP Steve

  • RIP steve jobs

  • i gotta get a job now

  • My Mac mini from 2006 with the 1.66 GHz Core Duo is still running great and can even manage YouTube 1080p with it's weakly GMA 950. That's a stark difference over the previous gen mini where the G4 and it's Radeon 9200 can't even play 360p properly.

  • 499$? THAT'S CHEAPER THEN TODAY'S MAC MINI, apple your supposed to make products cheaper , not More expensive, then cheaper again -_-

  • @ttMikee

it´s called inflation. i bet you win more money today than in 2006

  • introducing the descendants of the G4 Cube

  • Loving my Mac Mini :) Have no plan to replace the 2010 Mini for a while!

  • To bad the new Mac Mini's don't have a DvD drive. Completely took a step backwards in 2011.

  • @Agumon5 yes it dosent have a cd/dvd which sucks but most of the resources went to the processor and bigger hard drives. My grandfather just bought one with an cheap 30 cd/dvd laptop usb drive and love it and it pretty fast as well. The only this is that it should and could be closer to 500 dollars not 600. wtf

  • "Aw man I want a Mac, but they're too expensive." Bitch please!

  • ah yes, i love my mac mini.

  • Old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The modem is useless today because no one is using dial-up internet today.

  • @AZ100x Yea the new one came down $100 so hopefully they keep going down

  • @FenrirLupus an hackintosh :)

  • Aaaaaaa!!!! Fantastic!!!!

  • BYODKM. BRING IT ON.

  • The Mac mini has started to become a bit more expensive as time goes on.. hopefully someday it will be back towards the $499 mark. :-)

  • @AZ100x Tommorow....

  • If only they were $499 still.. :(

  • @AmazedAlex maybe they would be even cheaper if they still had a 1.2Ghz processor, 256Mb ram, and a 40Gb hard drive instead of 2.3Ghz processor, 2Gb ram, and 500Gb hard drive..

  • @AmazedAlex uhh they are? i just got one :l

  • @AmazedAlex According to WolframAlpha, $499 dollars in 2005 is, inflation-adjusted, $586 today. Mac mini starts $599 these days, so the inflation-adjusted price has stayed more or less the same.

  • love that wow at 1:50

  • compare 499 v.s 699 2010

  • The mac mini here in Norway cost 1000 $ not exactly affordable

  • @FenrirLupus your a mac mini dumpass go take a dump on some audience member

  • LMFAO Slut-load combo drive

  • If only all Macs where 500 or 600 dollars! Don't get my wrong macs are good but they need to be cheaper. I had like another 1000 dollars on my credit card because they're so expensive!

  • cool

  • k what the hell does the audience keep laughing about??

  • @FenrirLupus Mac Pro Nano

  • honestly the only great idea apple came out wtih lol

  • 1:16 almost said slut load

  • oh mac mini goooood

  • the only thing i dont like about mac power button is in the back?? and only 4-5 usbs

  • I love the mac mini. It's awesome!

  • Personally I think apple should make something like a middle category between Mac mini and Mac pro that doesn't have a screen. Like have a core i3 processor and the latest graphics chip, but with a price point of $999. How about a miniature black case? Schools would love that

  • @rhino9686 Also add the design of the G4 Cube. It looks cooler and it's easier to upgrade.

  • @FenrirLupus i want to stab you

  •  I have one of this , and I LOVE IT !! greatings from italy 

  • Your username is freaking hilarious

  • its comical how much the audience laughs and claps, and for nothing... best part is the unveiling of...... drum roll..... the BOX it's packaged in!! omggg!!! i love you steve jobbss!!!!! wooooooo!!! shit that box is awesome!!!

  • i dont get it, if the keyboard uses a usb port, the mouse uses another , how bout my flash drive, i know about keyboards with a usb hub in it but this is really stupid, only 2 usb ports?

  • @86123maxxi I bought this computer when it came out--I bought a hub with it; it wasn't a big deal. The current Mac minis have four usb ports. They're a definite niche product though, I think most people looking for a decent mac desktop would be better serviced with an iMac.

  • @86123maxxi Usb 2 is just a faster version of the original usb. It doesn't just have 2 usb ports it probably has a few more than that.

  • @M1sterHamilton nope it only has 2. i had to buy a separate usb hub.

  • @M1sterHamilton you are wrong, i just bought a used Mac Mini G4 off eBay and it came with only two USB ports. Anyway, i traded the Mini off for a 1.5 GHz PowerBook G4 Alu 15 inch.

  • @FenrirLupus and that would be a DIY PC

  • apple have already made it, it's call the power mac 4 cube. check it out.

  • I think Apple's next new product is the "iDontNeedThis"

  • @kevynspeed Aka the iPad

  • @FenrirLupus so pretty much a regular ol' tower? might as well just make a hackintosh

  • Mac Mini, costs less, still expensive.

  • wow this wasn't even Tiger yet

  • I got this mac. it really satisfied me. check my youtube page for review. I <3 APPLE

  • hm... I should get a mac... its cheap now... I never had mac before... I just want to try it..

  • I loved how when Apple first used to do this stuff, they were actual innovators, and people used to applaud. Now, you get a few laughs here and there, but nobody really cares anymore. The iPhone 2G was their peaking point, but eh, not anymore.

  • @FenrirLupus Let's see... Upgradeability, power, and no keyboard, mouse, etc.

Hmmm.. Sorry but the closest one I could think of is the G4 cube, but it doesn't meet one standard, it ships with keyboard, mouse, etc.

  • Nothings even funny and the audience is laughing like he was kat williams or somebody

  • Ironic that he compared it to the XServe, since today an older MacMini makes a GREAT home server.

  • @MrStephenRGilman R.I.P Xserve

  • this is how tiny it is, *drops it*

  • @iLowGasPricesx i thought the exact thing!

  • Steve: "The mac mini is tiny, has usb 2.0, ethernet and more! And it's very very tiny! "

  • Comment removed

  • 5 years later (2005- 2010) and the Mac mini still rocks today! Long live the Mini!

  • The new one should still be those prices...

  • he is the best on stage.

  • I've had the Mac-Mini for three years now, all I have done is upgraded the processor and memory, I love it and wouldn't give it up for anything

  • When they get down to $199 I'll buy one! Lol

  • it should have had at least a mini monitor

  • My 2005 mac mini turned out to be really bad.Always had a problem (i'm an IT technician & Apple fan ).

  • Why is this Person screaming when Steve showed the Disc out of the Combo Drive?

  • @Terrie3 because they finally realised how tiny it is with the scale of the cd to compare to.....

  • I wish Apple would make another G4 cube-sized desktop with actual desktop components. Not like the Mini, which uses mostly laptop parts. Won't happen though, as a desktop with regular desktop parts wouldn't be able to be sold with Apple's margins.

  • Mac minis now are so damn fast!

  • Yay, $499 at introduction, €799 today in the Apple Store in Ireland.

  • @PS2Gameplays romania=1000 euros

  • They were more excited when Jobs' showed them the box, as opposed to the actual mac.

  • @JohnnyKennedy93 thats the best bit

  • BYODKM lol very high tech but too expensive and kinda sucky but others are good its good and bad at the same time so APPLE is very HIGH_TECH

  • lol BYODKM

  • If this is the mac mini, does this mean it's going to go out of style in a couple of years and be replaced by something smaller? The Mac Nano might be a pretty cool computer :)

  • the cube was easier to open

  • I got one of those Intel Mac Mini and I really push this thing with only 2GB of RAM. I run Windows 7 and Snow Leopard at the same time and do tons of video rendering. These tiny things ARE AMAZING!

  • steve jobs could take a dump on an audience member, and they would still laugh and clap.

  • @TilaTequila73 mac is to PC as AMD is to intel if you dont understand that you have no idea the power of hyper threading there is no advantage to using a mac to a PC if mac has an "exclusive program" theres a good chance windows hasa similiar if not better program that does the same thing probly better well the bottom line is gates dick will always be in jobs ass

  • @TilaTequila73 introducing iPOOP :) LOL

  • @TilaTequila73 iDump?

  • @TilaTequila73 haha

  • damn expensive

  • @maridude maybe so, but i find spending endless hours solving problems on windows computers that will always feel uncomfortable to use much more expensive. For me, this was the first computer that I actually spent more time using than troubleshooting.

  • *Steve Jobs* "What is a computer"

    *Audience* "HAHAHAHHAHAHAH"

  • I'd like one but I can't afford one.

  • that's a computer?

  • what!? thats not a coumputer its like a memory thing.

  • They thought He made a joke with His pics

    From the mini

  • 2005 was an awesome year for the Mac.

  • I WISH I COULD SWITCH LIVES WITH THAT GUY! :) LOL

  • "hook it up.... to, lets say, to our 20 inch cinema display"

"BAHAHAHAHAHHHHAHAHAHAHHAH" Is the crowd stupid? What the fuck are they laughing at?

  • Had one of those original 1.25GHz minis for a short time. Was not terribly impressed with it. They have improved a lot since then with more ports and supporting more than 1GB of RAM.

  • This are the apple fanatics ... the adore this guy, they even want to f*** him, no kdding!

Of course they laugh when Steve pulls one of his lame jokes.

  • Mac minis are awesome

  • ... -_- yea... what a waste...

  • Just another perfect creation of Apple®.. But now tiny ! COOL !

  • damn doe the price $499 is alot lol $599 was just a joke i guess back than...

  • Wow, a box!

  • 256mb ram, damn, only 5 years and loads of people have 4gb+

  • It's funny that Steve still wears those clothes today

  • Damn! That was shitloads of money at that time! 256MB of RAM? I had a AMD Duron 1.6GHz, 512MB of RAM and a 60GB HDD in 2004 !

  • Why is everybody laughing at everything he says?

  • @jgrosse5554 same qustion here^^

  • "You could hook it up to our 20 inch cinema display.."

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!" *audience rolling around in tears*

Something tells me the people in the audience are looking at something else while Steve talks. Either that or they supply laugh tracks at the apple introductions, which is starting to not seem too obsurd right about now...

  • love the old video the first mac mini.

  • i wish iMac Mini would come in colors like the iPod Mini. it'd be so cool.

  • only 80 G hard drive? I bet it works only as good as a $300 PC

  • you realize this is from 2005, right?

  • @dclaver2 you do know this was from Jan 2005 lol the new mac mini has a 320GB Hard Drive and the higher end server Mac mini has two dual 500GB hard drives

  • BYODKM==

  • ilife '05 lol... where;s ilife 10?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

  • my netbook is 1.6 Ghz wow

  • my grandpa gave me this as a gift last year

  • I just bought a Mac Mini for my media center, i LOVE YOU EBAY 1.8 GHz Intel Core Duo 80GB HDD 1GB ram for $150.00 with keyboard and mouse!

  • @braydenmartindale Wow, only $150? It sounds great!! Do you have Apple (mighty,or magic) mouse and keyboard?

  • @PatriotSteve1983 Yeah the seller included a mighty mouse and pro keyboard with it! Amazing! He said there was a problem with the soundcard or something but it works fine! I use it as a media center. Also said it only had 512 MB ram and 40GB HDD but "about this mac" reports 2GB and 120GB hard disk!

It never hurts to check out your local Craigslist/kijiji site!

  • Im going to call mine.... Hmm?

    Oh I know...

    STEVE! :D

  • god i love my mac mini. i named her sasha :D

  • I am new to mac and wondered if anyone could help me. is it possible to copy a .app file into the applications folder as I would like to copy the photo booth.app file from a mac book pro to a mac mini to try and install it. any idea if this works? Thanks

  • @TJC450- I wouldn't be surprised if someone bought a mini and threw the mini out and kept the box. :p

  • I think the Box got more cheering than the computer its self XD

  • Mac Mini is kind of expensive but I find it very reliable!

  • You're a person that doesn't know what a Mac is about.

  • Grandeeeeee!

  • meehcan somebody rescue mehh from my loneliness really bored today

  • i noticed somethoing jobbs used a cannon pixima or maybe still uses it

  • nice but the power supply is have the size, it's good on desktop, but not that portable really i wish the power supply is integrated in the same box..

  • I was going to buy the iMac but if this will hook up to my Dell Monitor... then I'll just get this.

  • It's amazing how laughable the specs are now when we look back, and only with a 4 years difference!

  • @anzin74 I'm wondering if it can hook up to a Dell Monitor... I know what he said but that's the only thing keeping me from buying it.

  • @CadenJo Well, it should be able to, you'll just need to buy the appropriate adapter for the Mini DP, and so long as your monitor isn't the old projection type ones.

Have you tried googling this? You'll be surprised at the answers you'll get.

  • If anyone know would these mac mini's work fine with Razer Arctosa keyboard?

  • theyre cheering at the box it comes in......

  • "hilarious"- those keynote speeches must be the easiest comedy gig ever. he's gettin giggles even before the punchline. or am i just not geting the jokes? I would love a mac mini

  • can you use 1920x1080 resolution on a mac mini

  • @quest8 They now have a NVIDIA GeForce 9400M so, yes

  • pretty sure you can the mac mini can do pretty much anything any of the other macs can

  • @LaveaFirmis Can this Mac Mini hook up to a Dell Monitor?

  • Yes thats the whole point of it, that its very compatible

however the mac will look much nicer on an Apple screen or a better screen than a Dell

but it'll do the job well I'm sure

  • @narotu200 This is back in 2006.

  • i have the 2006 version and i look on mines they didn't put a Mic port now that stupid

  • I use the new Mac Mini 2.53Ghz Server ($999 version) as basically a backup and file storage for my Macs. My household currently contains 5 macs; my MacPro, my brother's Macbook, my dad's Macbook Pro, my mom's iMac 24" and our new Mac mini. The mac mini is REALLY fast and competes with my mom's 2.66Ghz 24" imac. I love the mac mini cause its a great machine for anyone who wants to pay a good price for such an advanced machine

  • i have a mac mini got it in 2008 with the core 2 duo and 1gig ram and i have a mac keybord but i use a samsung 22" and the g3 logitech
