Photoshop Tutorial: Text along a Path

I have watched several clips saying the same thing - I use v7 - I draw my line with the pen tool - and shape it (the path) I then select text tool (and make sure it is set to paths) and then I go to the end of my line and begin typing - right??? it doesn't stick to the path? what am I doing wrong please
