Connie is my fave female country singer of ALL time...but I cant forget Patsy (a legend as well), Tammy Wynette, beloved Dolly....and last but NOT least the coal miner's daughter herself, the great Loretta Lynn...(not one other name will I add to this list)
The only other country lady singer that is as good as Connie Smith, is Patsy Cline. IMO, they stand alone over all the other women singers! What a great voice she has! And this Bill mack song moves my soul every time I listen to it! Thanks!!!
I can't say enough about this lady. I have loved her since the first time I saw her sing . Those blue eyes captivate any man and her voice is beyond any female Ive ever heard. When she sings you can,t take your eye's off of her . I am sure she loves the Lord . I am so glad she and Marty are together ,I believe he treats her good and God made a blessing when he made Connie
I remember it well, being at the dairy barn for the morning milking with WBAP on the radio, running the cows through with Bill Mack signing off to Connie Smith singing this song. It brings back special memories of a time that's back in time. Since then, the old barn no longer milks, although it still stands, barely. Great memories!
This is a great gospel song. I have Connie's original recording. Yes, Bill Mack wrote it. Back in the 70s, I used to drive in the middle of the night, listening to Bill Mack's radio show on WBAP in Dallas. Sometimes I'd be the only vehicle on the road for miles, way out in the country. Bill would finish his show at 5 in the morning by playing Connie's recording of this song. It would make my hair stand up. I hope Bill Mack and Connie Smith are reading this. I can't thank them enough.
@ldffly I had a nightly run from Austin to Dallas back around 2000.. And much like you.. Connie's sign off song ending Bill's show was something I always looked forward to. I was actually doing that run when Bill ended his long and fruitful time with WBAP.. I hand delivered a small note of Thanks to Bill to the WBAP studio at about 4am on the day of his last show. One of the early am personalities was kind enough to deliver it to Bill for me... Bill rode with me many miles.
@StandardMeasurement I also used to love Bill's interviews with Marty Robbins. I guess those days will never come back. It's ashame. And after Bill's show ended, there was "Good Morning Texas" with Dick Yaws. Thanks for backing me up!

I'm glad to hear Dick Yaws' name again. As Ed Bruce sang 'another piece of America lost'. Ah those days.
