  • what materials was coraline made of?

  • lol 1:02 coraline pushes that guy away

  • 00:55-1:06 the best part

  • Amzingly fantastic. Best animated movie. period.

  • i want a coraline puppet...

  • Anyone notice that the spring trees flowers / leaves are made out of strawberry popcorn? Lol it's soooo cool!!!!!

  • awesome movie

  • hahaha this is so cool! i love this movie

  • Lol 0:58

  • I love the song you hear, does anyone know wich song it is?

  • Coraline: GET THE FRICK AWAY FROM ME!!!!! YOU'RE MORE ANNOYING THAT WYBIE!!!!!

  • i *LOVE* this movie !

it's amazing how they did it all

  • 1:19 I really want a puppet as flexible as that for my animating

  • At first when I watched this film I thought It was Tim Burton, because it is slightly reminiscent of The Nightmare B4 Xmas (and I'm not just saying that because it's an amazing claymation) But then I noticed it's not Tim Burton's typical style. Sure it's got a creepy intrigue, but it's not gothic, and it actually tries to SCARE you and it does so with an UNDERLYING plot. Anyway I was BLOWN AWAY by this movie and If I were at least 7 years younger It would be a childhood classic of mine!

  • 1:18 Lucky dude. Very lucky dude.

  • woowooow .. i just happen to LOVE animation movies and MOST OF ALL STOP ANIMATION, cause it's such an amazing-hard.and,totally awesome mega foxy hot ART!

  • They should totally make a short film about this. We need moar Coraline.

  • Brilliant observations!!! Almost a good idea for a film in and of itself!

  • Watching this movie makes it very hard to believe that it's stop animated.

  • great!!!!!!!

  • this is very creepy it kind of makes you think maybe just maybe we are not so different have you ever feet like someone is tuching you maybe someone is pulling your strings

  • How freaky and surreal; makes you wonder if life is like that.

  • @Shiek927 it IS

  • I can do an "Other Mother" impression.

  • LOL!! 0:56 To 1:05 !!!!!!!

  • they should make a full-length film based on this section that i have watched literally dozens upon dozens of times in a row

  • it would be so much fun to play with those things in the house thing and stuff i wonder how much all of that is worth? lol I LOVE IT!

  • i knoww.. i want all the puppets :P

  • lol it would be awesome

  • See the DVD special features for more Henry Selick and crew in the making of this stop-motion animation (silicone, not clay) movie :)

Metal armatures with silicone hands, faces, etc.. Love it:) clay animation just doesn't have the same cool look as Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, or Coraline.

  • ...that is AMAZING. XD i've already watched the movie when it came out; seeing the 'behind the scenes' stuff is really entertaining X3

  • What's the song in the background? It's beautiful. :)

  • It'd would have been AWESOME to be in this movie!!!!!!!! =D I sure wanted to play Coraline, I always do imitations of her when I'm bored :)

  • I love the little 'puppet vs. creator' montage. Coraline has so much life, despite being a puppet, it's almost scary.

  • Oh! I didn't know they were puppets! I thought they were clay XD

  • if they were clay they would dry out, and make it to hard to move the limbs as they do.

  • well, technically speaking not all clays dry out at the same rate. Certainly Play-Dough or ceramic clay dry out quite quickly if you leave them out, but there are also wax-based clays such as Sculpey which will not dry out in air: they have to be baked. Sculpey is very popular with amateur and even professional stop-motion animators.

  • Clay is loved by aardman,

Where as the Selick approach - Nightmare before christmas,James and the giant peach + Coraline have all used puppets as opposed to clay.

It's an aesthetic thing aswell as functional, with clay it can often look more amateur as fingerprints etc show up on the model. With latex foam or other such puppets (coraline) you can get what's known to animators as "chatter" or "boiling" its when you can notice little movements in the puppet outside of the intended

  • you got served by mysticwolf11. in your face.

  • use your imagination. And you will see... if you can't think of atleast one way to make a movie via stop motion and clay.. then tv and internet has killed it.. if it has.. id go sit in a dark room for a very very long time.. it will come back :-) serious.. as long as you keep clay moist and/or in a moist enviroment it takes a long time to dry out. and as mystic says wax based don't dry out till baked. another thing is the craftman ship of the people that make these can sculpt them in minutes

  • This is one of my favorite movies EVER!

  • Creeepy. :o

  • Oh...

    oh god

  • best movie in the world cant wait to buy this movie

  • i love the movie. but the director henry selick i think seems really creepy.

  • i have seen this movie twice it is amazing! if you hav not already seen it you are really missing out

  • la. lalala.lala!lalallalllalalallalallalalla~~

  • I would be a good puppet actress! I LOVE constant attention.

  • That's a really nice point of view. It certainly helps the animators to deal with the stuff they want to portray. Craftsmen to their bones.

  • i would love to see the end of the video but... it has stopped!!! please fix this dilemma that has happened :D lol i wanna see what he says

  • ..........i-i have n-n-o coment

  • W-Well, ok. that was...weird.

  • The "other mother" puppet is sooooo creepy, it ALMOST reminds me of The Joker.

YAYAYYYY!!!! I want to see this the day it comes out cuz its gonna ROCK!

  • Fear the BUTTONS!!!

  • movie looks cool, i remember seeing the book but i wasn't into reading much when i saw it :/......Henry Selick did a great job on this project though

  • Hurrah! I'm glad to see you guys finally got the sound working. It looks fantastic. I'm really looking forward to seeing this film!

  • He looks like the puppets in his movies, in a similar way that some people look like their pets. I think he looks creepy cool. I can't wait until this movie comes out!!! I'm really excited.
