  • how do you trigger Record to record? you can do everything else, but make the program record by midi sync.

  • why not just use cubase, pro tools or logic to record audio?? reason is a great tool but i that is all, i could never use it as my master sequencer. each to their own i guess

  • Long time Reason user and now Record, love em both...but, simple/flexible input/output routing in ProTools, Ableton, etc. is flatly way easier than Records virtual cables, inverted IN and OUT, wtf, etc. After 30 minutes trying to re-sample output of a mix track to an audio track, gave up frustrated. Opened Ableton, set it to Record instrument, wow, I am re-sampling. Another "complex audio engineering tool" Record "simplified" right out? Uh guys, some of us "dumb musicians" need this stuff.

  • ive only got the demo of this but its a great program. so rewarding! how does your guitar sound so clean though? if i use an amp off Record or even use one of my FX pedals its always really 'hissy' and not too good when i turn the gate on

  • what is playing at the start of the video???

  • Omg I love Record & Reason!

  • I honestly find all the Proplellerheads softwares just straight up hard, like wtf? im trying to learn using your expensive ass software im not a pro so thats why i use FL Studio 10 and Mixcraft 5

  • What is your set-up for Record? I have the program, but I am having tons of problems getting the program to actually record anything. Plus, when it does record, the lag is just terrible. Any help?

  • your string buzz too mush :/

  • @kaubasa record with reason best program ever....

  • Hey! great video man i've got a little question

I got record and not reason so its all new for me!

Now i figured out how to record my singing but when i listen back to it, i've got this dull, thick sound. Like im singin behind a glass mirror or something. How can i make it sound crips and soft, i cant find a treble button and i'd be suprised as this program doenst has it!

    Thanks in advance mate :)

  • your signals gettin a lil warm there pookie

  • seriously , i want this . I already have reason and it's such a jewel .

I hope i'll be able to get a real computer , a good audio interface and record as well . It will be so great .

  • As long as the Propellerheads insist on keeping their users from VST instruments, they will continue to be known as makers of easy-to-use beginner software. Maybe that's the market they're aiming for, who knows.

  • @KevinDolin that is the dumbest thing i have ever heard. Propellerhead is probably the most un-userfriendly software for producing, but it is the best. Reason doesn't need vst's because anything can be done with reason. Actually, have you ever used reason?? because that is the biggest load of shit i have ever seen

  • @nick20200 Reason fanboys have been making this claim since the days when Subtractor was its only synth.

"Reason can do anything!!!!" they said. If so, why was Malstrom added? Why was Thor added?

Malstrom does things the Subtractor can't do and Thor does things the Malstrom can't do. Guess what? Hundreds of different VSTs can all do things that none of Reason's synths can do.

No 3 synths on the planet can do "everything" and you're an idiot if you think this is true.

  • @KevinDolin again im asking if you have used reason?

People think that you need to have heaps of vst's to sound good. The most popular vst's aren't even modular, so their goes versatility down the drain for vst's.

And please, dont tell me you have never heard of layering. Because thats what vst presets use. and guess what...you can do that with reason aswell. you realise, all synths follow a simple code which can be easily replicated with reason. I know what im talking about.

  • @KevinDolin and btw. you realise some of the biggest names use reason rewired into logic, so dont say shit about it being the noob software. I think we can both agree that Fruity loops has taken that position.

  • @KevinDolin

It is omnipotent. More instruments don't bring more possibilites, but more convenience.

Reason + any audio editor can do EVERYTHING

  • @epten Spoken like someone who has never used a real DAW. The list of things Reason+Record can't do is practically endless.

  • @KevinDolin im messing sequencers, synths and audio since 1988. asking just of curiosity, I don't want to insinuate anything, you can choose not to answer

I would agree that reason+record lack many of the features of "conventional" daws, but that does not mean that there are things which can't be done. They can, only differently. The unique worflow is one of the main strenghts of r+r. And with 32bit fp - if it only had that epic sampler and not a single other instrument it would still kick ass.

  • There are enough DAWs that use Vst but Record (and Reason) is STABLE ! It never crashes unlike many other vst DAW.

Propellerhead should just update their Effect-Quality ...

  • i used it everyday and compare to cubase or protools it's very relaxing, to don't used midi chanel, the goal of this software is just to make music simple as using a tape recorder or a sampler & other hardware drum machine & synth, the EQ, FX and compression are realy evolved and it's very good and close to an analog mixing desk...

  • Has anyone tried to plug like a boss gt effects pedal in this? if so, how do you do it??? Please help me

  • @GH3H3RO1212 Hello, I did it and you can check my video "Megaman X Chill Penguin Medley" which is recorded with a Boss GT-10 (guitars). Enjoy it's 10:00 :P

  • Can I still buy the $150 program for Reason users even if my Reason isn't..erm..registered? Or is that "dongle" going to stop me from being able to use Reason in Record?

  • @apepdp13 Record will still work in that case - but if you were to buy Reason Record Duo then u will get Reason 4 + Record, and a free upgrade to Reason 5 when it's released

  • about time propellerhead made this.. they should have had this all along with reason..already settled on protools a couple years ago though.. maybe in a couple years i'll switch but they were too little too late for me and protools gets the job done

  • dam fuking men this is fuking daming asomeeeeee now my workflow gonna be so fuking grate with reason that this gona explote buahahahhahaha

  • this might sound like a stupid question but is reason and record together or seperate programs? ive been using fl studio for a long time and im hoping to use reason and record with rewire

  • when this finally supports plug ins then you would have to be retarted not to drop everything your doing with every other daw and get started on the future, GO RECORD! someday you'll be the industry standard and we'll finally be rid of that headache "PRO" tools... UGH

  • thanks i learned alot :)

  • great, but the drums should have a 4/8 groove :P sounds very bumping with 4/4 with that riff :P

  • this is better than fl and pro tools....and logic pro

  • @jimmyshivam

How can you compare this to these DAW's. Record is not a DAW, it's a recording program. While I can't comment on Pro tools or Logic, FL has far superior workflow to that of Reason and Record. Recording artists might not be bothered by stuff like that as they might not spend alot of there time in the piano roll, but it is very important to people who deal with midi alot like dance artists. Just remember the best music program is the one that is the most relevant to what you make.

  • It beats the hell out of FL.. nuff said

  • haha, you really compare this to FL!?

as it's name may reveal, RECORD is made for recording music, recording real instruments, vocals etc. FL ia a pattern based sequencer, mostly used for electronic music. surely you can do both things in bott sequencers but basically it's two different things.

  • I was replying to slightlytwistedagain lol.. I agree with you. but even as far as electronic music goes, Record could easily beat FL =P

  • as i said, i think that you can't compare record to FL that easily. to be honest record looks like a toy to me. this guy in the video is spending so much time recording different takes and then cutting them together to ONE good take...man i would rather spend this time to practise guitar playing and nail this riff in one damn take. what i like abut it, is that the whole project and it's content is saved in ONE single file...awesome!

  • @ChrisScribs

Record on it's own. Not a chance. Tried the demo for a bit and it doesn't have any synths needed for dance music. You have to get Reason for that and even they are basic. Multi samples are no substitute for synths. If I found Record to be better at workflow than FL then I would have got it. The only one that has come close is Presonus Studio one.

By the way, explain why Record has the advantage over FL on dance music =)

  • @slightlytwistedagain Record And Reason Kill Fl, have you Used Them when there not a demo?

  • @Randomstation

Demo doesn't make a difference apart from continuing saved work. I gave my reasons so why don't you explain yours. I won't be interested though in what you say if you talk like a fanboy.

  • @slightlytwistedagain im not trying to start a fight im just saying once you can take time with your work its much better and did you have a midi controller, because otherwise it doesnt really work?

  • No worries. Sorry if I sound sharp. I've had a Casio CTK 631 which is a dinosaur of a MIDI controller and had no trouble using that in FL 6 and it wasn't USB either. I just plugged it in and set the settings in FL. However I did use my mates M-Audio MIDI keyboard which is USB and there was a problem that the keys weren't correct as they all shifted a semitone down. But I blame M-Audio for that as their drivers were not working in Vista. Or are you on about a MIDI controller in Reason?

  • @jimmyshivam Yep you got that right that's why I make my music up in Record, never Protools, the sequencer sucks in PT, but Record's seq is like the MPC I am loving it.

  • @jimmyshivam lol.. FL Studio is much better

  • @HaatoSK fl studio much better?? :)))) i've started with fl 3, and its in my heart, but remains for the children..

  • @alexstavi FL Studio 10 is the best the rest is just a mess :) i like fl studio the most.. its your opinion if you dont.. but i dont miss any feature :) and everything is just better for me :) but its doesnt really matter about software ... its about you .. :D

  • @jimmyshivam Yes it is !

  • this is the next pro tools.

  • LOL this is the next fruity loops

  • aha at least FL supports plugins tho :P which is the down fall of this "DAW"

  • i really hope your joking lol!

  • um.. ok....

  • so if i wanted to record my motif on record it would work

  • thanks, that is helpful. Do you have any problems with processing power, like not having enough?

  • what does crossfade do?

  • Nice job. It's helping me with Record a lot!

  • Eddie- you are my hero!

    xoxo
