  • FUCK THE PLANET!!! YES!

  • very nice dan .

  • I thought it said "tree failing compilation"

    But you cut trees good.

  • Nice work man! What are the names of the songs used in the video

  • why are you cutting 1 meter over the ground?????? it makes no sence, just waste of wood

  • @everything there is always a reason why I notch at any particular height. It's extremely rare that I get paid for logs. So preserving board feet is almost never a concern. When it is, I cut a nice low humboldt. Many of those cuts were made a little high just to provide a better camera angle. I often cut low, well into the trunk flare, so that I can grind the stump without the need to flush off the stump. cuts can be made high to get above dirt or shorten the fall in a tight DZ

  • @murphy4trees ah okey for the camera, im working for swedens biggest forestry company, only felling trees for wood and fire material, im only cutting high stumps when im working with windfalls, when the dirt is on the wood, (i don't like sharping ^^) otherwise i get my ass kicked :P

  • nice ash at the end.. think its like 5 bucks a board foot and that tree looked worth at least 5-6 grand

  • I did this once in Africa and the tree rotated on the cut and demolished my garage!

  • Text Book Perfect ! this should be used for instructional purposes.

  • You missed @ 2:31.

  • @757Watson sure enough.. 6 inches to the right.. over-compensated for a light lean in the stem.. I would have done a lot different on that drop if I had to do it over again. call it a learning experience.

  • lol

  • @murphy4trees Cool....I have never seen that before and thats a great idea.... Ok, one more.. In a couple videos it looked like when you made the back cut you start from one side then wrap around the back side of the tree to finish the cut, does that change the way the tree falls vs just cutting straight in from the back?

  • @motoliterider Not necessarily.. if the notch was made with a level cut, then it is simply easy to start at one corner of the notch, adjust the height relative to the notch as desired (usually 1" or less above), then swing the saw around, and as long as the backcut is also a level cut, it will remain at the desired height above the face.. Often easier, though with anything complicated I most often plunge the back cut.. If you cut too much of the corner, it might effect the fall.

  • When you land the tree's on logs is that to minimize impact to the yard/grass or is it for easier cutting after the tree has fallen?

  • @motoliterider both, though mostly to protect the lawn, yard, curb etc.. Nice to keep the logs out of the dirt too..

  • you are an artist my friend....much respect

  • @SuperblyRat Agreed

  • do you ever use double sink cutting?

  • @dfcvda what does double sink cutting mean???

  • @murphy4trees I was trained by a guy that called them sink cuts but I think its notch cutting, so what i meant instead of cutting one notch you cut two, I `m quite new to this lol

  • @dfcvda I'm curious what double sink cutting is...?

  • @juanhaylove12 notch cutting, instead of a single notch cut you cut two at right angles and this creates a safer cut, this is what I was taught and to be honest I dont believe in it and I cut trees conventionally now.

  • @dfcvda That cut was developed for use on front leaners.. IMO there are much better cuts to use, though to be honest aI have never tried that, and guess I never will.. not much need..

  • @murphy4trees yes thats right, thanks.

  • tree-mend-ous

  • Awesome !!

  • i wanna go cut down some tree now. just for the hell of it.

  • Must have good skills/insurance to fall trees like that in suburbia! Great job BTW.

  • Saftey first ,I would hope you know what is under the ground in some of the areas you are felling big trees. No different than digging . call first 811 one call.

  • Awsome drops my friend. Like 1:11 right between house and pole lamp. Risky business but so much fun. Best job in the world. Very nice precision.

    Take care and stay safe:)

  • I thought the first few trees were going to barber chair, seems like your holding wood was not even all the way across the diameter of the tree. Skinny on one side fat on the other or just to thick to the point of being out of proportion to your stump shot. Just some helpful criticism from the limited experience of a rookie.

  • @CKS5000 One might leave a little more holding wood (HW) on one side (or sometimes COMPLETELY cut the wood on one side) when the lean of the tree would make it break off early if left even all the way across. It's to keep the tree hinged as desired. You can eliminate the HW from that side and leave the tree to hold onto the stump until the face closes and breaks off where you originally had it gunned. The man in this video definitely knows his way around a stump and it shows.

  • dont run so far stay and watch the show ;]

  • @REDNECKCABLETV He exits the danger zone at a 45-degree exit religiously, which is why he has so many clips to show us all. He can still turn his head and watch because it hasn't been taken off his shoulders by the butt of a log that "mysteriously" kicked up and sideways after hitting the ground while trying to look like a tough guy by staying "as close as he can". You go watch shows and let the pros make 'em, ya hear! Lol

  • Mr. Murphy i own a tree service out of south eastern Pennsylvania and i also attend Penn State University and I'm sure people give you a rath of hell because they think they know everything about tree work. As far as im concerned you always wear a helmet and chaps which stands out in my mind because of all the no namers in my area. 4 guys arond here are known as the TREEMEN or TreeWhatever and they have guys who are unsafe and they smash peoples proper. stay safe and keep up the tremendous work

  • i own a cut above tree service of white bear lake mn. and i love this vidio nice job man.

  • what is the 2nd song called?

  • @ohiomonsters1990 Thank you very much... Its nice to hear that type of feedback.. I sure hear enough of the other!

  • @highcountrytimber

really???? I go to great effort to cut clean faces... show it regularly.. the loggers freak out calling it a waste of time, but I AM hapy to spend the extra 20 seconds, as I may only fall 5-10 or less trees per day... the extra 20 seconds times 100 trees a day really adds up..

  • @murphy4trees

What am refering to is the little piece of wood that tear off the stump or the log. Your face cutting is fine.

  • @highcountrytimber Dutchman normally refers to an unintentional bypass dutchman, in other words bypassing the two cuts that make the face. This is the #1 mistake made by novice fallers.. causes the hinge to seize after the kerf closes, after which the hinge must fail before the tree can move, after which gravity takes over and there is no control of the fall, or worse yet, the trunk splits and barber chairs.. Either way it can get very ugly.

  • at 154 - the face cut is too big - no prpblem though looked an easy fell - if however you were winching back against a lean - then you can have problems as a friend of mine found out

  • @cleveroonie not much of a tree.. Maybe 14-16" DBH... lots of reasons to cut a deeper face, including the need to get the hinge as far back towards the center of gravity as possible... On bigger trees I tend to cut smaller notches, just casue they are faster and easier, and in most cases offer plenty of control... I've got videos showing a mini and a micro notch.. Lots of people freaked out..

  • WOW! that one at 7:33!

  • Great video....nice work falling all those trees, very accurate falling!!!

  • your awesome dude.... did u ever work for Asplundh??

  • @ElBenDeJalisco12 Never did.. I bought an old asplundh truck though 97 GMC with a LR IV

  • NOPE...Just with best tree climber there ever was or will be who DID once work for Asplundh!

  • @rusliding how's flight school?

  • I'm getting there...taking a check ride next week to be multi engine rated, I will be comercial in about 6 weeks, then 8 weeks to become a teacher. I have to learn the fundamentals of teaching without having a big stick in my hand

  • The tree at 2:42 was just about all dead.

  • Great work!! (great film editing too)

  • Great vid, Daniel. There`s some work there! Last two trees very nicely dealt with.

  • Well Done. Great show!

Murphy where is treeslayer. Is he still climbing?

  • 5 Stars brother! It must be nice to have those wide open spaces to fall whole trees...

  • Nice work, Daniel!

  • Now THAT was worth the watch, Dan.

  • Nice work Murphy.

  • Nice felling compilation. I see you're a fellow Pennsylvanian, equidistantly opposed to the center of the state.
