This video is my "happy place"...I have an extremely stressful job and when I come home every night, I pull this up and the anxieties of the day don't have a chance.... Watching Tommy makes me ridiculously happy.....
Cotinue from my last post a few more words Tommy Steele is still as charming as he was in his younger days as I said with his charming smile and twinkeling eyes that still charmes me he is great I wish I culd meet him and talk to him face to face it would have been great but that is a thing that I yeast can dream about I yeast love him.
@Ingvillc Tommy's twinkling eyes....ah yes, they're transformed my whole skeletal structure into a big blissful blob of goo on innumerable occasions...and so incredibly expressive.... merriment, confusion, sadness, anxiety, tenderness.... the man is magic, what can I say..... (actually a lot more )...
I am glad to see that i am not the only one that still has a crush on the great and very hansom Tommy Steele even if he is long before my time but I have always been a big fan of music from the 50,60 and 70 I haven t heard or seen Tommy Steele for a long time but fell for him agen when I saw finians ranbow and the happiest millionear agen so now I cant stop listening to his songs and see his movies agen and agen he is great and still as hansom as he was in his younger years with his smile.
@Ingvillc There is NO one like Tommy....(end of statement, anyone who disagrees with me, no offense, is just plain flat out WRONG and every unbiased bone in my body will confirm that fact)
For me, this isn't just a video... it's an Experience.... no, more than that....
Every time I watch it, it's a... CELEBRATION.....
Big, silly, grin on my face and deliriously happy to know Tommy is still everything he was over forty years ago and a lot more besides....hard to explain.....
What had captured my heart as a 12-year-old was no less valid over forty years later....
Tommy's undeniably a lot older, but he's still TOMMY, the years haven't taken anything away from him, that's for certain....and it makes me incredibly happy to know he's still sharing his gifts with the world.......
Thank YOU very much, operathephantom, for uploading this video. You have no idea of the joy you've brought to this (not so) old lady'........
Absolutely no other tv/movie star/celebrity has ever challenged his number one position in my heart...
That's why I was so thrilled to find this video. Yes, granted it's almost eight years ago, but that's 37 years AFTER I saw him in Millionaire - and he's still performing with the same beloved voice, hearthugging smile, boundless enthusiam, dash and dazzle that I loved in his movies..... when I bought Millionaire on dvd years ago and watched it, I fell in love all over again..
You couldn't just wait for it to come out on video. This was decades before vhs. When Half a Sixpence hit the theater, I saw that twice - LOVED IT - got the soundtrack, wore that one out, too. Also saw Finian's Rainbow - only saw that one once, but still wore out the soundtrack. Sorry - I'm blithely blithering on and undoubtedly boring everyone with my reminiscing...honestly didn't mean to do that. Just remembering the HUGE impact Tommy had/still has on me..... .
but it's been almost 45 years since then and he can still melt my almost 57 year old heart into a puddle of blissful ooze.... My parents got me The Happiest Millionaire soundtrack that Christmas and I was home from school sick for 6 weeks and I wore that record out...learned all the songs... saw the movie three times...this was decades before vhs, if you didn't see a movie when it came out, you had to wait for it to be re-released to the theatres years later - if it was.
His ever so expressive voice strummed my emotions like a harp, his eyes so full of merriment and laughter called me friend (yeah, sounds corny, but that's how it felt) and....he was (is) the whole package - not just so good-looking it should be illegal, but he had (has) it all - the consummate entertainer, act/sing/dance... and that huge grin invited you into his world.....hard to explain and I'm probably doing a lousy job...
There are no words to describe how ridiculously happy, how insanely joyful this video makes me every time I watch it.... Tommy Steele was the absolute first love of my life . My mom took me to see The Happiest Millionaire, Tommy sang, danced and dazzled his way through Fortuosity.... and I was a goner for all time. Had never heard of him - didn't matter. Had no idea he had been Britain's first teen idol - I found that out later on. All I knew was my 12-year-old heart would never be the same....

And, Tommy, may The Lord bless you and your loved ones for all the happiness you've given to us, your fans....
(Wish I could tell him that in person, but I'd probably be too choked up to do more than squeak at him in awe...)
