The vocalist sounds a bit like Graham Bonnet, just much worse technically (whereas Bonnet is incredible). He would be pretty good if he had proper technique to hit those highs, the result here is hilarious!
Dude! Thanks for posting this! Ibought (then lost) the cassette-single when it came out, and never forgot this fantastically hysterical song (I loved how it showed Def Leppard's sense of humor...) I can now share it with my teen age boys :)
I heard this back in the mid '70's, laughed till I had tears running down my face, forgot about it for awhile, then just lately thought about it,and found it on youtube! Still funnier than Shit!!!
I love this song to this day. Back in the UK this was a b side on Rocket. I actually had the 7" but swapped it with my mate for something. Wish I still had it.
@defAlixxRockIt61348 No, it's not Joe. It's their tour manager (then Steve's guitar tech) Malvin Mortimer, aka Stumpus Maximus. Joe is playing piano though... when he can stop laughing long enough that is. ;)
This song brings back memories...I remember going to the local Pizza Hut when I was in grade school and dropping almost an allowance worth of quarters into the jukebox so I could play this song over and over.....why? because this lady that worked there hated the song and talked shit to me for calling her daughter on a school night....LOL....This is a sad and pathetic story I realize, but it seemed logical at the time..
@cheesenoodle65 Clearly, you need to read the description. The guitars are recognizably Phil and Steve. And I do seem to recall this indeed being the B-side.
OMG! As a DJ, I played this in my bar during a contest for people to guess who it was!! Can't listen without laughing so hard I get choking! It gets worse as the song goes on!! LOLOL Love when he burps!! FUNNY!
OMG!!!!! This is soooo funny and stupid at the same time!!!!!!! Esecially when he burps at 5:52 then says "scuze me" I would HATE to be the recorders enless i was drunk or had already fainted!!!!!!!!!!!! Put this on facebook!!!!!!!!!! i did and i got lots of comments!!!!!!!!
@KizzMehButtox Apparently Joe is the one playing piano, but they were all laughing so hard that @ 1:04 you can hear Joe muck it up. If memory serves, they tell the story on the back of the 45 cover.
I just remember my cousin having to pull the car over on the side of the road because we were laughing so hard we had tears in our eyes and she couldn't see to drive.
I remember my former high school having a jukebox with Def Leppard in it...and I always played this B-sider and drove everybody in the lunchroom nuts! Can't get enough of that burp towards the screaming end. Was nothing more than a cover of a classic taken as a joke...evidently I was the only one that enjoyed it.
Thanks a ton Robcuf for posting this..I have been trying for a really long time to get this song ever since I started listening to songs on Youtube. On a lighter note it is good that Mortimer was just a part time vocallist with the Leps..;-)...Also the best part is the loud "burp..'xcuse me''..LOL

Hahaha genius - wonder if Engelbert has ever done ever b-side pub version of "Rocket". Did they perform this on the Hysteria Tour?

I love this song, the last time I heard it was in the early 90's. We played it so much that they took it out of the jukebox.
