jmkcornel , that sucks, I had the same loud vibration sound and it spoiled the fun of touching the phone so I got it replaced, new one certainly has a lot less vibration sound, but it's still, not as annoying as previous one. Did you notice that inserting the MicroSd card is tough on this phone and I tried inserting MicroSD card and now it does not come out by pressing it again, I've to use tweezers to pull it, inserted is smooth and I can lock click sound, what could be the problem?
Did you notice any dead pixels in completely black background under dark room?
Also, did you notice bit louder vibration sound when touching the screen? I think it's a defect. Try turning off touch tone and only enable haptic feedback and see if you hear annoying unusual vibration sound.
The North American (NAM) model supports the 850 MHz 3.5G band so you can use carriers like AT&T to get high speed data. With the Euro model you can get 2.5G/EDGE data in the US, but not 3.5G.
oh thank you very much for the info. uhm do you know if theres are other differences like features of the phone?... and if lets say you buy the phone in the philippines and use it here in the US is there gonna problems?
The user interface is pretty lame and very outdated looking. For this device to compete with the big dogs it need a much more modern looking UI, otherwise they are wasting a great device.
Yes, the UI is not as slick as the iPhone and it would be nice to see some work in this respect. However, there are some very customizable features and powerful components that make S60 devices extremely useful for many of us.
i know how it works. it runs dual CPUs so that one cpu can be dedicated to another program being run simultanously. a single processor cannot run simulataneously
mm you are right about the dual processors running but it doesnt mean its 2x 332 Mhz overall...N82 uses a TI OMAP 2420 as CPU, there is an application core and a DSP; one is ARM11 and runs @ 330MHz, the second, an ARM7 @ 206MHz. But the OMAP 2420 doesn't support 5M Pixel camera, so NOKIA adds an OMAP DM290 which supports up to 7M Pixel's camera, realtime encoding up to VGA @ 30FPS, video decoding. but yeh N82 should run simultaneous tasks better than N97. Im really put off by the N97s hardware

If you add the phones4u 'are you popular' Facebook application you have a great chance of winning this phone.

proximity sensor on the left..

Ahh, thanks for that info. The 5800 has this as well, but it is not as visible as the one on the white N97.
palmsolo 2 years ago
great review, please show more videos. i want a white one, but the processor is slower than an N82 and it doesnt have a 3D graphics accelerator..
lextasy88 2 years ago
the processor is not slower than the one of the N82 ;). The N82 has a 332 Mhz processor, the N97 a 434 Mhz.
betterbenice 2 years ago
no it doesnt, the N82 has a dual processor. the n97 only has a single processor
therefore it has a 2x 332 Mhz processor.
lextasy88 2 years ago
thats not the way it works =.=

Can you verify that the us version is made in finland please.
smellati 2 years ago
I don't think any version is made in Finland. Because Nokia said making phones is Finland costed too much...
