Did maraishi know yogananda?

Maharishi always spoke highly of Yogananda. He said Yogananda's Kriya Yoga was the best meditation technique before Maharishi's effortless Transcendental Meditation technique came out to the world.

Maharishi had high praise for Yogananda. Said something to the effect that he had the fastest approach to higher states of consciousness up until his (Maharishi's) teacher gave him Transcendental Meditation and the direction to bring it out to the world.
