Let's say I had a wah that I wanted to run in the front of my amp and the g-system through the effects loop. Is there a seemless way to set this up? I'm thinking about getting a g-system but I'm new to this routing and patching world. Thanks
@JayDeeSG What you would need to do is hookup the G-System with the 4-cable-method which is shown in the G-System manual. Then you would hookup your wah into one of the G-Systems loops. When the G-System is hooked up in this setup all the loops are placed before the preamp, as well as the G-Systems wah, filters, compressor. Everything else on the G is placed after the preamp such as delay and reverb. The ONLY drawback is that the modulation block on the G is also placed after the preamp.
where's Slash when you need him? oh sweet child of mine..........this thing aint cutting that tone i'm sorry.....too much frosting on the cake....but probably good for recording
@Vetof1If you want distortion, why not buy a high gain amp? I have a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier that can hammer out deathmetal to pristine cleans. Gain is something you would rather have in the preamp valve stages rather than some digital effect pedal that can induce more unwanted hiss into your performance.
@crispycannibal@crispycannibal ............i agree .i´m gonna get a mesa lonestar .... and also this unit ...... so i guess my sound is gonna get frikin insane hahha cheers
@slashzakkkirk hey man no this is all top quality, reverbs, delays, detunes, pitchshifting/ harmonizer, phasers, flangers, auto whas, and amp switching with plenty more, you have to supply the distortion/overdrives... they allow you to keep your distortion tones you like. weather it be pedals, rack. or switching between two of your favorite amps
@Miden82 Hahaha a co-worker of mine used to wear those things, and we ripped on him mercilessly lol. He said they made his legs quit hurting, but we insisted he just wanted to wear high heels .
Sounds over processed IMO? These units always have a terrible synthetic sound. I really can't stand all that auto wah, flanger, plunger type tones. Can't see where I'd ever want to sound like Kenny G playing guitar. Keep working on this technology, I'm sure one day it'll get there...but it hasn't yet.
I really need for the two preamp signal paths to be processed independently in the pre/post gain sections of the G System. Knowing the loop portion of the system is analog, I just need to know if this is possible or not. Having to use one amp or the other or stacking them on top of each other is a deal breaker for me! Any help would be appreciated!
Unfortunately the G system cannot do that, to my knowledge at least. I tried it myself with a signal splitter trying to get it into stereo but it didn't work that way for me. I had to stack the amps. It's still a damn good pedal though.
I went ahead and took the plunge anyways. Really is a great unit. I'm buying the Nova System now to take to small outings and such! TC really makes great stuff!
I'm thinking about purchasing the G System, but have a question concerning application. I want to run this in stereo utilizing the preamp sections from two separate amps at the SAME time. The post gain effects (Delay, Reverb, etc) would need to be connected via the respective amps effects loop. I see a hookup configuration for this in the manual, but it's unclear if the preamp from one amp will feed the preamp of the other since I would be using Loop 4 and the Insert Loop.
@jerbrook1060 We are two in the same boat now... I've been trying to find a way to deal with this but using the loop 4 would feed the insert loop... The G-Force has this application but not the G-System.
I went ahead and purchased anyways. I just adjust the output of the L/R outputs per present as the outputs feed the power amp section of the amp. You lose the preamp tone control, but and can switch back and forth if one preamp is more desirable than the other. It's a good work around, but this is an area where a little more thought should have been applied. Thanks for the comment!
seriously though just cause its a little and I mean a little brighter in sounds with 1/4th the ability of other processors does not mean it is pro! It just mean that the buyer is following trend that is actually not well thought of and stupid...U think gt-10 is shit...they told Oliver and Wilbur the same thing!
That guitar he's using is a Brian Moore c-90p with the synth hookup built into the guitar. I have one, but without the synth hookup. KILLER guitar. The axe in the video, like mine, is American made. These guitars aren't cheap, but they're one of the best out there. You used to be able to get them in a FEW stores. Now they're only available direct.
lol the TC isn't the preamp! the TC just provides very high quality effects, that run through any valve amp etc! clearly you dont know whats going on...
oh... btw look in the background.. two koch TUBE amps running in stereo! ;)
stereo is the way to go, get a mesa power amp like the 2:50 or 20:20, triaxis pre-amp, and with the t.c. electronics you will rule the world. expensive but you won't buy anything ever again for a guitar rig.
thing is with that i duno how to change channels on a midi pre amp ive been reading about it loads and i though if i was going to go down that route i would have a little midi pedal to change it. if you know how i would control on the g system i would love you forever
yeah i never went to a custom board to control 2 different machines, that's what you're talking about right? knowing how it works I would think that there is a generic board with 2 midi cable inputs. then it would just have to have the electronics to know how to control 2 at a time with just the press of one button. Like, if you want reverb and distortion, but then you want chorus and clean chanel, and only want to press one button. It's very possible.
yeah, i was really torn between this and the eventide eclipse. i ended up getting the eventide and i ended up buying the roland fc300 and a separate midi switcher to switch channels on my mesa mark iv. now i'm thinking that i should have gotten this because of the switching and the pedal board layout. but i think the eventide is better on the effects end. any comments?
they are completely insane, they sound so good, and you can set it up to meet your standards, meaning presets, sending certain effects to the loop and some out front, i have a 22 pedal rig and i am thinking of just moving to this unit, its pricey but is worth it you can get any sound out of it, and it sounds good. Doesnt have OD, but TC is coming out with a NOVA DRIVE that is the best OD i have ever heard so you plug in with that and it works great, cant go wrong with a G system and a good OD
i agree 100%, and am totally psyched for the nova drive to come out! this way i wont have to carry 4+ drive pedals with me on tour, and the parallel routing? legendary.
@blekdood Most people on Harmony Central that give this unit a bad review, have NOT got it set up correctly. 4 cables are need and they need to be stereo cables, not the normal mono jacks.
That's a load of crap. By stereo, you mean balanced (TRS) cables. And, there is absolutely no reason to use them with a guitar. A guitar does not have a balanced signal, so a balanced cable does no good. An amp does not have balanced inputs, so again no good. I've seen the manual where it says to use balanced for inserting a preamp, even if the preamp doesn't have balanced i/o....It's all crap. Balanced cables don't do a thing if you don't have balanced i/o at each end, and throughout the line.
@PorcupineFloyd68 TC Electronic tell us balanced cables. I have tried mono and then switched to balanced cables. Sounds great with the balanced cables.
@darrenw TCE tells you balanced for inserting a preamp "even if your preamp does not have balanced jacks." You wanna know what happens when you do that?...absolutely nothing different than using an unbalanced cable.
In all reality, the difference you did or didn't hear is probably caused by better quality cables, shorter cables, or the fact that you were expecting to hear something better.
Balanced cables will have no effect on your guitar signal in the way that you're pretending that they will
running commentary: chorus is very good. very clean. auto wah is good. but believe it or not the wah on my gt-10 is crunchier and you can even control the tempo of the auto wah. ordinary delay. crazy effect there. but you can create this effect with the gt-10 or the x3 live as well. reverse delay is good. never had any experience with this effect yet so not my territory. ok distortion. gt-10 the master of wah by the way. all in all too much money for too less. bill gates might like it!
Compesson, this is distortion revisited.
