LMAO @ all the comments praising this performance after I found it listed in ESPN's YouTube Hall of Fame. Everyone saying this is great is obviously a little too loyal to The Boss.

Bruce ruined that one...sorry, but it's the truth...looks like an old guy trying to recapture something he once had...he's got a look on his face like he's havin a big crap...pretty funny to watch and kinda sad at the same time
perhaps its a little harsh but still true. I know he loves music and its been his life but the popularity game and reaching new fans at his age is not one to play. Stick to the game you're good at I always say.
Its not really harsh, some people just find Bruce Springsteen to be annoying. His voice just doesn't do it, he sounded like he had never heard the song in his life.
Wow, that jam is some of the greatest rock & roll I've ever seen, by anyone, ever, period. I love it at 4:18 when Bruce motions to the sound guy to "TURN IT UP." IMO, this version is way better than Pearl Jam's live version.
how cool must it be to be Eddie V.? he's shared the stage with Bruce, The Who, The Stones, REM, Ramones, Tom Petty, The Buzzcocks, Ace Frehley, The Strokes, The Doors, U2, Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, Dave Grohl, Mike Watt, Tim Armstrong, Patti Smyth, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Cheap Trick, The Supersuckers, Mike Ness, Neil Finn.... jeez.. the list goes on and on... as a fan of music, this has to be a list of career highlights for the man.. keep kickin' ass Eddie Ved!!
awesome vid. i love the respect they have for each other.love the big man solo adds a cool touch to the song. best part is the jam by ed and bruce at the end
I know I'm gonna get flamed for this, but i'm gonna do it anyway. It was an electric performance, it was awesome to see Eddie and Bruce on the same stage, but Bruce fucked up the lyrics.
This is freaking AMAZING god, i wish i was born like 15 years earlier. i missed so many great milestones in music. bleh ,it makes me sad. (!!!i missed the whole seattle/grunge era!!!)
That's the beauty with music - itr can live forever if it's good enough. I'm forty, I lived & breathed this stuff, I still sing my heart out when these songs come on say in the car - my kids think I'm mad.
It can be hard to define rock & roll. However, like the Supreme Court Justice who couldn't define pornography, but knew it when he saw it, **THIS** is rock & roll.
well i'm sure deep down Eddie may have felt slighted by it, but this was a ROCKING performance..Maybe when Bruce whispers in his hear at the end he apologized? I doubt it, but who knows..it's two totally different types of music, so, it happens. i love the sax solo. Its really FUN just to watch the two of them together, Bruce just looks like he is having fun..must have been amazing to be at that show
I was at this show with my dad.. hearing Bruce sing Better Man with Eddie, hearing him sing "Running on Empty" and "Racing in the Street" with Jackson Browne ALL IN THE SAME SHOW.. was one of the most amazing experiences of my life, definitely the most amazing and surreal concert experience I ever had, and I treated my dad to this show 2 days before he left for the Middle East (both of us being huge Springsteen fans), and he returned safely in 2005. I wont ever forget it
what it must be like for eddie to watch his idol sing one of his very own songs...

@elatlover "Except Eddie." Surely, you must be joking. Vedder sucks compared to Springsteen in just about every aspect. And he knows it...

Think your being a little harsh but I do agree Bruce isn't great on this one. Just don't think it suits him.

I'm not questioning his ability as a musician TG. On this song he just didn't bring it for me...Song doesn't suit him.

The Big Man is Clarence Clemons. He's been part of The E Street Band since the 70s.
And he is AWESOME.

You know, it never occurred to me before that "Better Man" could be enriched by the addition of a sax solo.
But it can.

The Boss quite messes it up in some points, but I don't mind! He's still my hero, just as Eddie :-)
