no offence, but the several places where the video skips leads me to believe that there might be some video editing involved. Not that your lying about it, its just seems slightly less authentic to me
nice. i could be wrong but at 0:20 it looks like u messed up and started to cover it up. once again i could be wrong. but great job! i wish i could do it that well. ehn i start to play after breathing and switch away from cheeks i always stop for a second kind of like im tounging.
i play the trumpet also, and good job. The only problem i saw was that you got a little flat when you did circular breath, but otherwise, nice. Oh, and i learned by using a straw and a glas of water also : )
well it all depends on the individual, but really you just need to build up the muscles that are used for it. i remember i tried learning it for a bit and wasnt very good at it. i tried again a few months later and it just kind of clicked. and thankyou
What was your point in doing this, to let people know that it could be done? People know that it can be done, what people want to know is, how is it done.please respond.
the point was bc i felt like it, and to show it being used. i mean the was i learned how to do so literally by going to google and typing in "how to circular breath"
also, there are plenty of how to circular breath videos done by much more adequate players than myself already on youtube
yes, if one is so inclined/interested and LOOKS for about two seconds; there are plenty of great videos of instruction. This video helped me because I get to see it done with an instrument other than the one I play. Thanks for posting it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Now Behold! hehe.
Thanks for responding. I understanding now, and I will take your advice. But most of these video's only show that they can and not how. I guess I'm looking for a step by step (simplified) method of learning this skill. If you have any suggestions, please do. Thanks
Wish I could do that... too bad I stopped trumpet to fill the missing tuba spot. now I cant play trumpet very well :( and its impossible to do it on a tuba. its uses too much air :(. maybe I should start trumpet again...
I've been doing circular breathing for a short time, myself. Yet another weapon in our musical arsenal! You do it well, by the way. Keep at it! And, tell the truth...have you ever won any "bar bets" by wagering who can hold a note longer, and then proceeding to hold a note "forever"?! ;)
i have more videos dude, this is just me displaying some of the things that i can do, and i just did some lip trills to fill in the space between breathing. but thanks for contributing
well thanks to marching corps i have a pretty large lung capacity so i dont actually use it too often. i did use it when i marched with carolina crown every once in a while and i do it alot durring slow lagato pieces in wind ensemble
haha yeah... when I said that last comment, I figured more people would recognize his interp. then Raphaels ;) Yeah I know a trumpet player Rolf Smedvig, he took lessons from Raphael haha funny enough, Rolf made it in the Boston Symphony by the time he was 19. He's now with a group called The Empire Brass :)
yeah that all has to do with embouchure strength. so like... isometric exercises (the pencil exercises, for example) or full range lip slurs (like double pedal c to double G, or pedal F to high F, etc.) and no pressure.
there are 6 open fingerings in the normal 2 1/2 ocvtive register. but once you get below a concert E4 you can play everything open and once you get above a concert Bb6 you can play everything open. anything below what i told you and above what i told you is in the pedal range and is open but to help tuning you can still use valves. the normal register notes that are played open are Bb4,5,6 F4 and 5 D5. those are all in concert pitch. does that answer your question?
where does the video skip? not that i honestly care if you think its fake, i havent even played my horn in 2 years.

i learned by using a straw in a glass of water. there no resistance, and you can actually see it happening.
-as youre slowly breathing out through your mouth, alow the air to begin filling your cheeks
-when your cheeks are full, begin pushing the air out of them
-as you push the reserve air out your mouth with your cheeks, inhale thru your nose
im not sure how clear that was, i only had a minute to type this up

o u make it sound easy dere's a guy o here with a bassoon who jus makes it sound so complicated
