  • Hey man:) im a massive fan of your videos for two reasons, Warwick thumbs are my favourite bass and your grooves are amazing! I do have a question for you though, i'm saving for a 5 string thumb this year and im not sure whether to get the new 2011 bubinga BO model or a NT model. I know NT models are supposed to be better but is the difference really worth the extra $2000? Please reply if you have the time as i respect your opinion seeing as how you own a BO and an NT. Thanks dude:)

  • @gunryobassist

    Hi! )

    Thanks, nice to hear, man!)

You should try get old (!!) NT because Warwick turned to crap after 2006. If you really can afford buy a WW NT -do it and don't doubt in this, you'll happy :)

B\o a nice bass, but NT sounds better in ALL respects.

You should try both the bass before buying

    sorry for my english :D

  • @1010100101010001 Hello again:) thankyou very much for your reply, and your english is great so no need to apologize hahaha. Could i just ask one more thing though? Why is it that Warwick turned crap after 2006? What happened?

  • @gunryobassist

    Hi.

I really don't no what happened, but It doesn't sounds as cool as before..

New models this year, with a thin neck disappoint me at all .. was not expecting this from WW

  • @1010100101010001 Ok then, i guess i'll see if i can find an older one. Thanks again man:)

  • @gunryobassist

    good luck)

  • @1010100101010001 Cheers:)

  • @1010100101010001 Which is better? Bolt on or neck thru??

  • @bullsnake70

I'd say neck through for two reasons.

    1. A string stretched on two separate pieces of wood, no matter how tightly bolted to each other, doesn't resonate to it's full capacity. They are two pieces of wood, whereas neck-through is one stable piece, the string resonates to only one another surface. This is info I've READ about it, and reason number

    2. I've played a neck-through Warwick Thumb NT 5. It's owner had to physically separate me from that woman. Not a bass - it's a woman!

  • @sirobelec47 Damn, bro...what makes it so womanly other than the sound?

  • @bullsnake70

The feel. They say the guitar is more difficult to begin, but the bass is harder to master...

Go to a music store and grab two basses, one a bolt on, the other a neck-through. Preferably pick up a Fender Jazz Bass and a made in Germany Warwick NT in order to make the guy there know you mean business and make his eyes pop. When playing, you will notice that your whole body arranges one way when playing the Fender, and another way entirely for the Warwick. I like the Warwick feel.

  • @bullsnake70

I probably am saying nothing you don't know if you've been playing for some time. When going to high-level basses, a neck-through is only a player's preference. For a bass, besides the sound, is important to be comfortable when playing it.

I tried with my poor vocabulary to explain what a neck-through does and mean.

  • @sirobelec47 Thanks man! You did a good job explaining!

  • after 1998 they stopped hand making the basses and switched to the machines. thats why i hunted down my 95 nt thumb. great playing by the way.@1010100101010001

  • @gunryobassist Try to get an year 1990-2000 model because before 2000 warwick's were made by hand, nowdays almost evry warwick is done in factories so thats probably why pavel says they are horrible nowdays... i think i can agree but not sure... I do like the 2011 model of NT Thumb, i know pretty thin neck but the video on warwickofficial youtube channel about adjustin the bass had that model and it sounded/looked pretty cool :O

  • wicked!

  • well i'm blown away. especially if you wrote that yourself

  • 5 words total. fucking epic

  • the tiny double thumping passages make it really rock!

I like to do so aswell and this is why your style is pretty familiar to me but your integrated chords, which I (till now) did never use, are awsome! Think I need some practise to do as you do.

great playing, bro! Dreadlocks and 5-string funk metal rocks!

  • Amazing :|

  • holy shit, nice slapping, and dredlocks. :P

  • Good Job!! Damn!! You're good!

  • how much cost??

  • Love it man!

And loving the dreadlocks haha! I've always wished I could pull off dreadlocks.

  • you and the warwick Thumb NT pwns dude!

  • how old are you man?

you rock! i always wanted a bassist like you in my band! :D

  • what tuning are u in man?

  • @atomisk

I think he tuned a half step down, because the strings are easier to grip and pop, is this right?

  • я в афиге!! круто!!! очень очень круто!

  • Fucking great bass and slapping o.O

  • good job dude nice play , whats ur setup?

  • Dude... mind-blowing..

  • yo can you teach me how u do that fast popslap technique at 0:25? Or if there is, show me a lesson video about the technigue or what ever it is :D

  • @KamiDisturbed It's called the "double thumb" technique. Look it up, Victor Wooten does a great job of explaining in his video.

  • doublethumb wtF? cool ichek it out. really looked like poppin or atleast doin something with the index finger but still wtf? :D Wooten Ftw XD

  • Sweet.

  • hmm... pretty awesome.. but thats not anymore miracle to me when watching your videos you know? awesome speed btw in popping :) good melody. 6/5
