  • about @ 3:55 you can just tell they've switched back to the live version...

  • Further...the "ahhhhh"'s of the video don't last as long as the audio track.... pretty definite the audio is the studio original, spliced, here...

  • It's just as well it plays the studio version, the live ones never seem to cut it.

  • Great!!!

  • Great!!!

  • The video IS from a show in France, but the audio is the original LP version... rather obviously... I remember listening to this on the radio a lot back in the 70's... love their music; thnx f/ posting....

  • @kewlbreez77 I must question this. Justin's lip-synching is perfect. Is that possible? His guitar is his favorite, an Epiphone Casino, bought out by Gibson before Justin bought it. So that grind is faked also? The Story in Your Eyes must have been the same guitar? I’ll let the experts weigh in.

  • @MyPaulHenry I believe the music audio is the studio version, & audio after the music is actual live audio from the show, as at least in some of the vids of this show on youtube one can hear the audience applauding at the end. Otherwise they're studio versions spliced with announcement b4 songs, & audience reactions after. Anyway the music is great, it's stupidity that the pseudo R&R HOF has not inducted them already, particularly now that they've included, ahem "music" that is not even music

  • @MyPaulHenry 1 more thing, @ about 1:20 Justin steps forward to the mike & you can see him begin to pronounce "ride my", then backs away, if the mikes were that good, why do we hear nothing? Because the LP version gets spliced in approximately @ the 0:22-0:25 mark. I'm sure there's other places where you can see the diff., but I'll just listen and njoy what I've been njoying for decades! PS it's not lipsyncing, just the splicing of LP w/ the vid, that's it, & a job pretty well done at that.

  • @kewlbreez77

I have to disagree, they start to sing, Ride, but it sounds like they had a false start, it's quiet as they say it then back away from the mics.

It's been way too long since I've listened to them, guess it's time to pull their CDs out again and compare.

  • @kewlbreez77 Super. I caught the 1:20 moment you mentioned, and you are right. I think I see what you are getting at. They are chopping the studio audio rather than Justin failing to get it right. Is that it? It sure did sound perfectly like the LP, which I thought odd considering this was a just a club. The guys stepping back and forth to the mikes in unison gives the illusion that are doing a perfect rendition of their studio version. It still is, as you say, great.

  • @MyPaulHenry ....sorry, but a final "PS" here, not to make you crazy, dude, but don't you recognize the famous "echo" to the voices from the orig. studio version here?! Anywho...enjoy it, as today's, ahem, "music" can touch these guys! Just like Deep Purple, WHY ARE THESE GUYS NOT IN THE R&R HOF?! Absurd......

  • @kewlbreez77 Look, the more feedback the better. I like learning. I am not sure about the echo because I have not listened to the studio version for many years. And I am shocked to hear they are not in the HOF. Is Ride My Seesaw, their first huge Rock hit, not a Rock song from around 67 that still holds up? If Dylan is in the HOF, then the HOF is a sham. He had only one major Rock hit that I can recall: Like a Rolling Stone. Dylan wrote ballads. I don't much care for Hall's.

  • Nice stuff. Rare and all. Utterly contrived... ( you may notice Mr. Pinder's Mellotron is a Hammond B3 )

  • Justin Hayward was such a beautiful man.

  • 10 people fell off a see-saw as a child

  • i love his song...i sing it with them...if they could only hear the female background sound! it's hard to remember the words at first...i come from a family of musicians,my sister played the piano, her husband was in a band and played the base guitar,my other sister plays guitar, piano, and sings, her husband is a sound engineer and produced an album...

  • Happy trails, yes indeed.

  • I was going to say it sounded lip synced until they blew it in the second stanza. So is the music pre-recorded and the the singing real?

  • "hippies"? definitely a pre-1970 person from the sounds of it. In the 70's, we may have looked the part, long hair only, but to be a true hippie, meant so in the heart. I do not think this band considered themselves hippies. They were 'far-out', but not hippie.

  • incredible voices

  • hippie?! you mean the guys ? this is 1970, Justin had already bought a rolls royce , two mercedes and properties in Cornwall, John bought a mansion in Cobham and a rolls, Tony Clarke bought his first bentley, they flew their own 707...brilliant, talented, wealthy and classy 'hippies"...fantastic band from day one with the release of 'Days Of Future Passed'. a fan since 1967.

i know what you mean, hippies loved their songs.:-))

  • Excellent video from on stage back in the day. Felt like I was watching them in a club scene....great stuff

  • I still like this old hippie music !

  • lost my virginity to this songl. wow what grand memories.!

  • This video is brilliant!

They're already playing the song long before you become aware of it. They're not fading up, their playing that soft, gradually getting louder. What an incredible use of crescendo!

  • Kinda cheesy.

  • @Xaxaar Camenbert Then!

  • @Xaxaar ...and Rochefort 5 stars!

  • i think i fell in love 3 times with this song.......wonderful! thank you!

  • EVERY generation has its music!!! The MBlues were the best! Made LOTS of good music! Can't get enough or hear enough! Hey, where's T. Leary??? :D BTW, you don't have to put anyone down to enjoy someone else's music! Just listen to the someone else!!!

  • real as real comes : )

  • The Best Band . Period

  • I love film.

  • Farrah Fawcett come ride MY See Saw...lol

  • @ycanada She did, I saw her at your place waiting by your swings and see saw in her red bathing suit !! Happy Thanksgiving :)

  • This tune alone made me understand how psychellics really could bring a smile.

Have I been doing weed for 40 years? This tune suggests the answer is YES.

    aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

  • WOW Listen to those vocals. What a top song! I was lucky enough to see the Moodys several years ago. It was the best show I have EVER seen.

  • I agree with woods024. I'm soooo glad I grew up in the 70s and listened to great music that you could understand the words and had a great beat to it. Not the crap the the kids listen to today !!

  • on favs for like 6 months now and still say its genuien : D

  • Thanks "Johnnie" for showing me what great music is all about. I will never forget you, forever in my heart x

  • Why is everyone comparing this to the "rap crap that kids listen to these days"?! Just listen to the damn song, and ENJOY it. No need to put down other types of music!

  • Love it Love it Love it!! Remember the big build up to this song when I was a small kid, playing this for you J.J, I will never forget you Big Brother and thank you for playing their records really loud, happy memories of you. x x x

  • bummed the dude on the right didnt wear his tux :(

  • This video makes me feel like I was up on stage with them, very cool.

  • I saw the MOODYS recently at ravinia in Chicago.

    Love you JUSTIN.

  • yeees, I am so happy, I could listen to this music, when I was young....All these bands were great, and make me happy until now, even I am older.....

  • This was the song and the band that made me want to play the drums. that was 40 something years ago. I work in a hall where they will be playing in October. I hope to meet them.....and tell them.....it's all because of them...and their musical influence on a 4 year old.

  • I love this song so much!!!It's one of my top faves of all time!!!!I love it soo much!!!

  • This is the happiest song EVER.

  • Comment removed

  • Saw the boys in 1994...they simply kicked this song in the ass my God I love these guys like a beautiful woman...

  • I love the Moody Blues and Rap and Punk and Jazz....why does it have to be one or the other?

  • Fuck Ace O'Connell. Fuck KBAT.

  • If it wasn't for me not listening to father and he made me sit on the stoop i never would of heard of thses songs. Thank you also father for having me sit and listen to thses songs.

  • And to think the Moody Blues are not in the rockNroll hall of fame ???

They had as many hits as Pete Rose, another "should be" hall of famer.

  • Digging my era, like no other era will ever be. I like see saw's..

  • I was tripping on salvia the first time I heard this song. It was epic.

  • Live performances do not get any better than this.

  • Awesome awesome and AWE-SOME! What quality..what vocals..what musical craftsmanship! I saw them at the Ontario Place Forum in 1986. It was a warm, breezy summer evening in July and we sat on the grass smoking spliffs of black hash while these guys caressed our minds and eardrums with huge song after huge song. One of the best concerts I've ever taken in. Thanks for an incredible uploaded performance.

  • exquisite my french friend!

  • Love the live singing - no faking it with special affects on the voices

  • On of the best band ever !!!!!!!

  • First let me say that I love the Moody Blues, so this is not intended to take away from any of their greatness, which is immense, but... for what it's worth, this is not fully "live" as was commented by duncanparsons here. You can hear the synth or mellotron at the beginning of the song coming over the P.A. system, with the band following the cue. At about 3:10 you can clearly see Hayward's guitar neck and he is NOT playing the licks, only rhythm guitar. Since they have no other guitarist...

  • a truly great rock song - heard this with a girlfriend lying in bed in the middle of the night and never forgot it.

  • Real music that has stood the test of time.

Will today's music be around in 40 years? Time will tell.

  • WOW. I've never seen a video where they were so young. Thanks for sharing! I would've been ticked if I were them when this footage was played back: "What the heck? They never got a shot of us from the front?!?"

  • This is the tune that they did their encore with at the concert at St Michele Winery in Woodinville,WA on saturday,06-04-11.......They absolutely BELTED this great song out....whatta concert.....favorite band of all time.......my high school sweetheart[incidentally my wife of almost thirty-three years]surprised the living hell out of me when she picked up two tickets for the show...we sat five rows back from the stage...........got blasted out of there but loved every frickin' second of it......

  • Listen to "Candle of Life"... Moody Blues forever!

  • this is true talent ,bands from the mid 60's to the mid 70's kicked but, all those bands were very artistic,, too bad the ones that think they are musicians can never walk in there shadow,,moody blues is a one of kinda band!!

  • 8 people are deaf.

  • What a great song!!! can't wait for the hologram of this!

  • Another great video. Thanks.

  • without going thru all the comments to check - this sounds remarkably like they are 'performing' on top of a record or tape being played.. they are clearly singing (there's that false-start into the second verse), and there's probably some of their instruments going thru - but the ending is a bit of a give away (compared to the Caught Live performance), and notice that Graeme barely plays the kick at all..

    very curious!

  • I'M bummed they are not coming to the East Coast this year. The farthest Eastern Concert is Chicago. I might just have to take a road trip! I saw them twice last year and both concerts were awesome.

  • @wy14591 When are they playing in Chicago?

  • The Moody Blues will be in Tucson, Az on May 11th. My girlfriend & I will be their. Also we are going to Las Vegas to meet them at a Storytellers show on May 13th. I have been a fan since the 70s and 1st saw them in Germany in 1978 at their 3rd show of their Octave tour after not touring for several years. Will be my 2nd time to see them perform in Tucson.

  • Was it not the Moody Blues who first ran a track of drums live in this song. The firsts in music

  • This is one of my all-time favorite songs. I have seen five of their concerts, the last time in the mid-90's in Austin.

None of the live performances I saw were as good as this one...

  • Sometimes Red Sox Baseball Fans think they see "Moody Blues" legendary guitarist Justin Hayward sitting behing home plate to the left...Dan O'Niallain

  • They sounded great live, didn't they? Nice harmonising.

  • Of all of the 1970 Paris concert videos floating around out there, I love this one the most because it so clearly is live. There are too many "mistakes" here that are not on any studio album. This makes the performance so much greater, because this is awesome. The "mistakes" of the Moodies are far superior to the "perfection" of so many artists today.

  • @macsdounix I agree with you - this is one of the best live performances by any performer. The clarity is great, and you can easily hear and see John Lodge err by singing way too early. I saw them perform twice: in 1974 (with all five) and in 1991 (with all but Mike Pinder).

  • @JSP1996 Ditto. Seeing the Moodies for the 3rd & 4th times this month. 11th in Tucson & 13th in Las Vegas and attending their Storytellers meet & greet. My 1st concert was Oct 78, Nuernburg, Germany, their 3rd show after not preforming for several years.

  • Eternal...

  • my parents raised me on this band, its almost magical that whenever i hear the moody blues it brings me back to all sorts of moments when i was younger, all those awesome youthful days with this song blasting out the back deck for everyone in the neighborhood to hear!!!

  • On my 33rd birthday I saw the Moody Blues in Atlanta, Georgia on my birthday January 1st . They are Fantastic still.

  • AMAZING BAND!!!

  • I've listened to it all, or so it seems. Always treated musical delights like a trip to Baskins/Robbins, so many differents flavors to enjoy along with the comfortable favorites. There are the some genres I don't care for (or maybe not ready for)

THIS is quality stuff, never tire of the Moody Blues!

  • I'm so glad i grew up listening to this music than the rap crap kids listen to these days. Thank You Dad For Having Great Taste In Music.

  • @woods024 amen! By the time I have kids all of their friends will think the stuff THEIR parents grew up on (like Kanye and Katy Perry) is what "classic music from the good old days" is supposed to sound like. At least my kids will be raised right!!

  • @woods024 It's funny because I've grown up listening to pop, rap and screamo genres most of my life, Yet I still found some way to find this amazing band. :D

  • @woods024 i love rap and this song don't be so ignorant and stuck up.

  • @woods024 hey, you're bein dumb. I mean, this is AMAZING music, but don't discount the entire rap genre just because the mainstream of the era sucks a dick (or because you might be racist but I can't go and assume that). The mainstream of 1970 sucked a dick too.

  • @mbera11 As I Read Other Comments It Seems People Agree With Me More Than They Take Your Point of View! Hell I Don't Even Know Any of Them. Imagine That! Cant Spell The Word Crap Without Rap!

  • @woods024 Hey I'm Sorry You Never Went To School And As Such Don't Understand How To Capitalize Words, how's it feel knowing that every rapper has a better command of the English language than you?

  • pbmax Like

  • Absolutely incredible!!!

  • LOL... zephyran0, if ' they missed a rehearsal or two'.. it doesnt show to me, I was noteing how incredibly insinct (sp?) they are with ea other...

  • Excellent song, but I think they missed a rehearsal or two before the gig...

  • @zephyran0 At 1:19? LOL The vocals sound great though.

  • Great song to smoke dope too.

  • 8 dorks! probably street trash. I'm 57 and my dad likes this. crossed some bounderies over the years. Great band!

  • @jbeng1953 Cmon man? Street trash? Thats what we were called for listening to this music! Just not from our time man. Gotta give a little to get a little!

  • 8 dorks! probably street trash.

  • 8 dorks!

  • LIVE FADE OUT... COOOOOL!

  • Listen to the harmony!

  • @nednederlander93 yeah no shit jackass, but i must admit you are rigtht. this band is awesome!!!

  • I first saw them preform at the Shrine aud. in 1969. They blew me away then and the other 3 concerts i've seen them at. By the way. the grouo before them at the Shrine was Jeff Beck with a new singer named Rod Stewa

    rt.

  • In 1967 Dr. Don Rose from KFRC AM radio, San Francisco. I believe it was him who said this group is the "Sistine Chapel" of rock and roll..Moody Blues is one of my all time favorite bands..

  • Is that Kevin Bacon playing guitar?

  • Moody Blues Forever!!

  • Obviously were listening to the whole pre-recorded song, plus low-in-the-mix vocal and room mikes.

But what's important is that musically this is one heck of a great song!

  • I have to agree with the pre-recorded track, check out other LIVE Moody Blues concerts like the Isle Of Wight 1970 concert on youtube, there is a HUGE difference.I have to give credit to the MB's because this whole 1970 in Paris show was done very cleverly and obviously a lip-sync to studio-recorded tracks if you listen to some of the other LIVE concerts on youtube. If you watch closely you can see them back away from the mic's ,and the vocals do not fade near the end of this song.

  • @undergroundbasement - I also am certain it's pre-recorded track they're using. I've seen them live twice and they don't sound even close to their studio versions which I like much better. I was disappointed.

  • @MoodyGirl67 Riggght, and they perfectly synched up a the drummer's LIVE performance with a pre-record track. You conspiracy types are a blue lunar.

  • Harmony at its beast...Got to love em

  • It was a glitch. You can see J-Hey mouth something at 1:20 to get them in sync.

  • Isn't it time for the originals to tour one last time?

Yeah, that means you, Pinder and Thomas!

  • fucking awesome!!!

  • I disagree it was a slip-up at 1:19, I think they just added that for the live version, I mean a slip-up in 3-part harmony?

  • awww that hit the spot

  • awesome

  • there was stereo since the fifties

  • Love them so much, agree it will never be the same without Ray and Mike.

  • Just not the same band without Mike and Ray in the lineup.

  • @tezzwazza You obviously are one of those kids who enjoy computer made music. The type that takes no talent to make. I can sit behind a computer and hit buttons and make music all day.

I could NEVER get up in front of people pick up a REAL instrument, and have sound flowing from my lips in harmony like these guys can. And neither can you or you music. Go play in traffic and let natural selection take its course.

  • @SuperSweetblue : Whoa cowboy. Like all things, so called 'computer made' music does in fact take talent and skill if you wish to make something that exceptional. True, computers do allow hacks to make music, but again shit is is shit even if it's dressed up with auto-tune. I make computer music, make no mistake, I could also get up with a band and play the keyboard, for an entire live set ... give me a set list and a week to practice and commit it to memory. The Moody Blues are awesome btw.

  • @SuperSweetblue so very true!!!!!! these are true artists like all the bands of late sixties and early 70s to bad we dont we dont have real talented artist like that anymore!!!..what happened to the talent???

  • @SuperSweetblue you're forgetting that music is pure magic and is meant to be enjoyed no matter what medium is used to create it. computers are just another instrument to create sounds that would otherwise be impossible to create. if you tried to create a piece that is worth listening to on the computer im sure you would find it difficult, perhaps not as difficult as turning your ego off and performing for others and letting the music flow from you but none-the-less a difficult feat!

  • @SuperSweetblue MICHAEL TSARION IS THE WORLDS PREMIER CONSPIRACY RESEARCHER/LECTURER/AUTHOR. DR. BILL DEAGLE, LEO ZAGAMI, JORDAN MAXWELL AND ALEXANDRE DUMAS PERE ARE HIGHLY INFORMATIVE AS WELL. P.S. MELTING EUPHORIA IS SIMILAR TO OZRIC TENTACLES AND GONG.

  • @tezzwazza que pendejo1!

  • Six people were upset that they didn't get to ride the seesaw.

  • @robq73 AweeeA

  • Thanks so much for posting this. Outstanding video and audio of a great band in their prime!

  • this was outstanding, click favorites

  • too bad their aren't groups coming out like this anymore The Moodies were once dubbed the Smallest Orchestra in the world

  • Awesome.

  • n[oribn[ndrb[n

  • This video was clearly recorded live You can clearly see where Justin and Ray mess up by almost coming in at the wrong time on the song and John starts laughing at the mistake so this had to filmed live!

  • just take a trip\

  • Why is always the drummer that gives away that a group is faking it? Come in on the song at the right time next time!

  • In Search of the Lost Chord: Great concept album!

  • Love the Moodys they are just my favorite band of all time. I was a toddler in the late 60's but remember them well. My Mom listened to everything. Absolutely love the Moody Blues...Have all their DVD's and rare concert footage...:)

  • Wanta take a ride?

  • "To talk to Art Bell West of the Rockies dial 1800 876 6000(...) This is Coast to Coast AM with Art Bell"

    XD Love classic C2C!

  • One of the few bands that sound great live, and not just in the studio. I saw them at the old Garden State Arts Center in Jersey. The sound was was unbelievable! Great Band.

  • OMG...MOODY BLUES ARE THE MUSIC GODS OF THE 60'S AND 70'S!!

  • Awesome Harmonies one of the '60's & '70's best performers

  • LOL looks like Justin says "MY BAD" at 1:19!! Absolutely live!!

  • @lala5732

You're right! And then Lodge laughs!

  • i got a kind of neat connection with Justin Hayward... we both have a birthday on October 14 !

  • @blozier2006 How lucky are you...I just love Justin...The Blonde Prince...He was too pretty:)

  • Let me get this straight, Ray Thomas (with moustache) vocals and flute, Graeme Edge, drums, John Lodge, organ, Mike Pinder, bass guitar and Justin as we all know. Am I correct?

  • @Feisty1967 Pinder is the keyboardist, Lodge plays bass

  • @Feisty1967 close John Lodge Bass Guitar, Mike Pinder Organ/Keyboard/Mellotron

  • Oooops! at 1:19

    LOL!!

Hey, it happens to the best of us . . .

  • Who Is Smoking At The Beginning Of This Video??????

  • @MoodyBluesFan100 Justin Hayward.

  • Awesome! One of my favorite Moody Blues songs! To watch it live is even cooler!!!

  • question, What are the chances that they were singing live to the pre-recorded track while the drummer provided accents on the cymbals? see, their guitars aren't plugged in, and this was before there were wireless jacks. notice also how the song fades out -- like the studio cuts, and like the other cut, Tuesday afternoon. goto 2:40 here and see that the drummer is not applying the kick according to the beat you here. it's still live, and the harmonies are BRILLIANT, but it's not totally live.

  • @wycliffite There are "three" versions of the classic Moody Blues live video for "Ride My See Saw" on YouTube...

    1. Lip-synched version (studio track only)

    2. The simi-live version (this one, adding live vocals only)

    3. The live version (NO backing track, all vocals and instruments live)

All are worth hearing, the versions are radically different, and it's interesting to compare them to each other...

  • @clayopalstar It looked to me like just a little
