  • THIS SONG CAME OUT WAYYYYY B4 I WAS BORN BUT I LOVE IT!! :D

  • That is what always got me about this song...how it changes to a minor key, and the song shifts ever so slightly from happy to uncertain at the end ........almost enigmatic

  • i love the beginning of this song

  • What a great songwriter Rod Temperton was. "Grooveline" was only one of many he wrote, including some of Michael Jackson's biggest hits.

  • groove line tonite OOOOO OOOOO

  • This song is timeless!! I was 16-17 years old when Heatwave was peak. Brings back lots of memories. I can listen to this song no matter how I feel and it puts me in that energetic feel good mood!!!! Yes!!!..8-)

  • This is my go to song whenever I'm on a long trip, whether its by car, train,or plane.

  • When you heard the first few instrumental bars of this song---it would make you run to the dance floor in the clubs. Even today---this song is still the bizzness!

  • Smooth, rhythmic, groovy, sultry, danceable, skate-able, happy and loveable. Good music. Ditto!!!

  • 14 dislikes missed the train

  • @ msmillievanilli the Wilder brothers are black, they're mum is light skin tho.

  • The Rhythm guitar is just BEASTLY!! That sh*t is so effing good...

  • @skush123456...

This song was written by Rodney Temperton; the keyboard player in Heatwave.

He is a british white guy who wrote many jammin bass lines. He wrote Thriller for Michael Jackson, among others!

  • thanks Dantoine

  • Ten people got kicked off the grooveline for not being funky enough.

  • @TheLightoftheworld9 REALLY!!! every time I hear grooves like this I am reminded of a more fun and carefree time in life, well hell i was a kid. But my older sister had to take me everywhere she went and was an avid "record" buyer. Oh the good 'ole days!

  • @skush123456 Thats some real shit! And funny too! Your Dad was paying major respect in his own way. If more Americans could be honest like your Pops the country would be much better. Peace!

  • @skush123456 Maybe he identified because they are not all black and the leader was only half. I loved Heatwave because they sound good just like I like Carrie Underwood today for the same reason...she sound good.

  • @skush123456 This may be politically incorrect, but that comment is hilarious. Everybody got on the grooveline whether they wanted to be or not.

  • @skush123456

And I'm sure he didn't know a white guy wrote the lyrics and music...?

  • @rblend Don't forget the same white guy who wrote many songs for The Late Great Michael Jackson.... In fact Heatwave turned down a couple..

  • rod temperton wrote all these great songs and he also wrote songs for Michael Jackson on Off the Wall and Thriller

  • On the boxes, WBLS & KISS FM, NYC late 70s.

  • The guy who wrote this tune also wrote 'Off The Wall' and 'Stomp' by the Bros. Johnson.

  • these great songs came along and everyone went to the clubs on friday night to drink, dance and try to get your swerve on a young hot one. if you had any money left you went out on saturday night and did it all again . it was when the disco clubs were the best. these days they stand in the corner and never move. bring back the red hot wax and get it spinnin again

  • You bet your ass the printer made a mistake and left the "C" off the first rap records..

  • I think I remember hearing this song in either New Jersey or New York on WBLS.I think I was about 11 or 12 years old when I first heard it.

  • We 're riding on the Soul Train every Saturday in the 70's.

  • now thats whats up

  • from the master rod temperton.

  • @MrOld1964 AAA-MEN

  • Im proud to say that I'm 22 and I love this song. I hate that music doesn't sound like this anymore. It aint all about sex and killing. People use to just have fun.

  • LEAVE YOUR WORRIES BEHIND! WERE RIDING ON THE GROOVELINE!

    TONIGHT!

  • I loved growing up in this era- times were really good- I had a great childhood and was exposed to the music industry early in life- this was a great band- there are no more bands around these days- today it's like everyone for themselves- they wanna have ALL THE MONEY- but leave no mystery about love and fun...smh...

  • I was a nightclub DJ in the same club from 1976- 1986 and I played this and many other great funky songs during this time... I was way ahead of the wave I was one of very few female club DJ's during that time and known all over my city...not that it matters but I'm white...there was no female around doing that at the time...I had some wonderful times!!!

  • @MsArnone PS thanks for the post, brings back GREAT memories...Heatwave, Gap Band, Kool and the gang, MJ, Prince...etc etc

  • awesome group, awesome song.......it puts the jingle in my jangle....why isnt anyone out there doing this kind of bass anymore, and the lyrics not bad either.....

  • This music is still being played in clubs all over the U.S.

  • When I finish grad school, I think I'm going to have to rent out an old building and have an old school music fish fry. Fish and nothing but Old School!

  • I've loved this song since I was 9!

  • This song is soooo hard. no one make music like this anymore, such a groove.

  • DAMN.

  • Loved dancing to this song in Kearney, Nebraska at the Backlot in the late seventies.

  • one of the baddest jams ever made

  • This Shit got FUNK. Nobody got funk these days.

  • DAMN....this is some real pimp music! CLASSIC!!!

  • drivin my new camaro sat nite downtown main street love it love it leave your worries behind greattttt

  • Love how they have the Obama ads on here. What, only people who support Obama listen to funk? Think again.

  • A great song that came out of a wonderful time period Today...nothing but negative vibe and talk of killing and death. Then, we lived to enjoy life and make friends. Didn't matter color, race or ethnic culture. We were about fun and good times!! Nice to hear this again.

  • Throw in that bass riff and it doesn't get any better than this!

  • Temperton wrote the song but the magic is his keyboard hooks. Snippet at 3:33 then busts it open at 3:49. Is it any wonder Michael Jackson hired him to write the top tracks for Thriller, the greatest selling album of all time. A genius ahead of his time on Grooveline!

  • Who knew a geeky looking white Englishman could have so much soul and funk? Hats off to you Rod Temperton!

  • @mimidec67 I was thinking the same thing!

  • @mimidec67 Yeah he's a pretty funky dude! He wrote "Thriller", as well as many other good songs for many well known Black artists.

  • Great bass line!

  • @ralfcos Yep I agree! I like the chorus effect or whatever it is, that they used. lol

  • i super love this song, awesome jammin....LOL LOVE IT !!!!!

  • @acehasreturned14 cool,..u got good taste in music :)

  • 70s born and 80s raised, but I love me some ol' skool!! The stuff today has nothing on this. They just don't make it like this anymore! I had the privilege of listening to this stuff on Saturdays while cleaning up around the house with my folks. Good times :)

  • I remember hearing this song for the first time and I switched to disco, funk and rap from hard rock and became the only white guy in my neighborhood walkin around with the big ass radio blasting the best shit ever!! ( And no, nobody bothered me, at 17 I was 6'3" and 220 lbs...lol) I miss just busting out the wheels of steel in a park and just starting a big ass party!!

  • l know you youngster don't about this but let me tell you we just had to kick when we heard this, the 70's was the shit and of course the unforgettable 80's.We had ball back then and.never did we want to hurt no one we just partied, till we could'nt party no mo.

  • i was born in 78 im glad i was born in a year with decent music.

  • Someone at the Grove when this came out? Wow! I was in Europe then Willow Grove in 81. Loved Heatwave Army Kats!

  • Back in the days disco there was plenty of good music to dance too.
