Only got into BC2 on PC recently and my first mistake was mainly using the Assault class at the beginning. Anyone new should use the Engineer class in this video because the first weapon does more damage and is not as reliant on magnum ammo. Then there is map knowledge to learn which is really the most important thing. It depends on your character whether you carry on but if you like a challenge it's a must buy. I guess some players can't face being slapped about at the beginning.

Most of them are probally call of duty players,who don't understand you just can't camp in this game and get away with it like you can in cod. Everywhere is a death trap in this game,and thats what i love about it hahaha. Whats even better this game rewards you for going after the objective,while in cod its all about who gets the most kills.

Awesome match! I love that gun, I use it all the time without magnum. I do have the explosive and rockets/grenades perks, though. (I play defensively anti-vehicle.)

to be honest i don't think magnum is essential but skill is and i don't think people should blame themselves getting killed alot because of not having magum ammo, skills is more important. But magnum ammo does give you a better adv.
your way of using the smg ( i do the same thing) is the best with the aks 74u. it has les damage than the ump, 9a91 or scar l but it has a high rate of higher and a high accuracy.

I got this game less than a week ago, other than learning some of the nuances of the game I've had no issues getting kills/points. I like it better than CoD, mainly because it's more towards my playstyle in that BFBC2 is more open to improvisation and modifying tactics on the fly rather than CoD's run and gun. I haven't seen much of an advantage with players of high levels other than the fact that they get more options for their preference of gun.

The one thing I don't like about deathmatch modes, why I don't play them, is that I Can Never Find Anyone! My teammates are always where the enemies are, as are you, it seems, but I'm always running around with no action AT ALL!!

I am ASTONISHED that in a 100 kill game NONE of the buildings were completely destroyed. Usually in 75-kill games, by the end all we're playing in is rubble.
New players aren't at a huge disadvantage because of lack of specs, if you play smart specs don't make a big difference. The problem is that most low rank players are new to the game (unlike jay) and don't know how to play smart.
@jayekaiser what do you think about body armor. I've done some thinking and i realize that with 25 extra health on core mode that makes you withstand 2 more shots with most guns. However, with magnum ammo, it normally only helps by one bullet. Which do you think is better?
it seems to me, the way for a new player to level up faster is to play conquest, not sqd. every capture is worth 3 kills. so even if you aren't a gunslinger, you can learn and work the maps is such a manner as to capture flags without being too vulnerable. your point is well-taken, tho. map knowledge and sound strategies are keys to success in any game. (good reflexes don't hurt either).
@lawman2k I will be playing a lot of conquest and rush in future episodes, I played SDM in this one sort of as a "warm up" and as a way to pitch the idea
I know this has been said before but the PC version looks so fast paced in terms of movement speed and sensitivity, as well as the amount of time to kill for some reason :P Great work Jaye, I'd like to see more of this series (although I'm well past the "newb" level) :P

Like the idea. I remember when I first bought the game: Lag was ever present, EVERY1 was using Abakan and I couldn't kill a thing with that AEK-971. I was frustrated but I continued to play. Now I can actually have fun in this game.
Hint: if you start at level 0, be a vehicle whore! There's not TOO much difference in vehicles with upgrades so you can just tank/chopper whore to get your first few levels of XP.
Tip #2: SWAP KITS when you find them! If you're level 0, all the kits you find will have perks you can use!

Funny thing is, magnum is apparently only a 25% boost in damage compared to CoD's 40% boost with SP, so that makes you wonder even more if the big name CoD commentators knew what they were talking about. Magnum isn't that big of an advantage.
A good tip for new console players is to use the onslaught mode to familiarize themselves with 4 of the maps. Map knowledge helps just as much, if not more than ones kit. Still, I found unlocking everything didn't take long at all and I'm glad there is a 'handicap' - makes you a better player. Onslaught mode will also allow you get used to the heli's which have a steep learning curve. I'm level 43 and only just got the chance to really practice the Apache because I bought Onslaught mode.

Jay, do you always use Magnum ammo? Do you recommend using it most of the time? I just started using it today at level 32 and I must say it's pretty insane. Normally I use the accuracy upgrades, or the Ex. Upgrades, MKII, Spot scopes, Med H+, R+ but magnum ammo seems so prominent among players that I had to give it a shot. It's crazy how much easier the game becomes.
When my main account got banned from EA games for 72 hours I made a new account and had a lot of fun restarting. I had better games on the character with no mag ammo, body armor, or Ex2 than my main who had everything unlocked. Those perks really don't make the player who uses them godly compared to others that don't as flanking tactics and getting the upper hand on the enemy will always be more deadly than some perk that gives either +25 damage or health.
in some or most pc games you have to shoot your pistol (or other semi weapon) at a steady rate. Idk lol thats my case when I used to play PC because I was laggy. so yea you probably lagged... and now my explanation is kinda useless

lol, I noticed PC gamers complain about the tanks a lot. I was in a game of heavy metal and over the text chat I read "GET OUT OF THE TANKS SCRUBS! FUCKIN' NOOB TANKS!" and I saw that at somepoint early of the video. Maybe its just the fact they have the ability to bitch about it to everyone or not but I rarely hear my squadmates complain about tanks on console, and I usually play with randoms
This happens a lot on ps3 when it doesnt sync your stats. It happened this past weekend for me and that stuff is hard but you have to play smarter and not engage a player unless you have an advantage.
@johnniem2nd Yeah it glitches a lot. Pretty much every time I turn it on my stats are dropped or revived. They do always go back to normal but it's kind of a pain when you're rank 1 for a match or two.
And have you noticed, sometimes your map goes away and you don't see player names or anything? I hate that.
i hardly use magnum no matter what gun, id rather have body armor so if my teammates die i can take more damage so i can stay alive as their mobile spawn point
You forget, that not only do noobs have to deal with not having all the unlocks, but they also don't know HOW to play the game. You're doing well because you're experienced. I'm not sure if this level 1 thing is worth making a whole series about.

@sweetxix Sorry, I misunderstood. Yes, If you link Battlefield Play4free to the same EA account as the account you use for console BF games, it will raise your veteran status across all platforms. You can do this with any full game, but not expansions/PC mods.
I've heard with some people the veteran system can be quite buggy, when they link games to their account their veteran status doesn't go up when it should. This happened to me so I went into EA live support chat and they fixed it.

@linharesmcphd I think not having the gadgets that your kit was built for is even more frustrating than lack of magnum/body armor - although it is nice once you finally unlock them
I laugh at the people who disparage hip firing. If someone is at close or even medium range, you're putting yourself at a huge disadvantage by not hip firing because you think it's "nooby". Once I figured that out I almost never lose a close or medium range battle with an SMG. Works for most assault rifles as well, but is not recommend for LMGs for the obviously spread reason.

Great idea, and great video! Personally though, I've never found magnum ammo that useful and would much rather pick something else, but I have a lot of playtime in the game and know how to work around that while newer players (and experienced alike) might find more use in sheer damage output.

IIRC 9A-91 damage without magnum ammo (20) is stll greater than PP2000 with magnum (~14).

hip firing with the ump is actually quite effective at mid range, despite the small clip size it manages to land for me :)

With lots of map knowledge vs the terrible players in your video you did ok. But id still agree with the cod crowd that your at a massive disadavantage early on, epsecially in earlier patches of the game. getting an 94 and gustav'd when you have the crappy default Assualt rifle plain sucks

Like the idea. I remember when I first bought the game: Lag was ever present, EVERY1 was using Abakan and I couldn't kill a thing with that AEK-971. I was frustrated but I continued to play. Now I can actually have fun in this game.

Hint: if you start at level 0, be a vehicle whore! There's not TOO much difference in vehicles with upgrades so you can just tank/chopper whore to get your first few levels of XP.
Tip #2: SWAP KITS when you find them! If you're level 0, all the kits you find will have perks you can use!

Funny thing is, magnum is apparently only a 25% boost in damage compared to CoD's 40% boost with SP, so that makes you wonder even more if the big name CoD commentators knew what they were talking about. Magnum isn't that big of an advantage.

A good tip for new console players is to use the onslaught mode to familiarize themselves with 4 of the maps. Map knowledge helps just as much, if not more than ones kit. Still, I found unlocking everything didn't take long at all and I'm glad there is a 'handicap' - makes you a better player. Onslaught mode will also allow you get used to the heli's which have a steep learning curve. I'm level 43 and only just got the chance to really practice the Apache because I bought Onslaught mode.

Jay, do you always use Magnum ammo? Do you recommend using it most of the time? I just started using it today at level 32 and I must say it's pretty insane. Normally I use the accuracy upgrades, or the Ex. Upgrades, MKII, Spot scopes, Med H+, R+ but magnum ammo seems so prominent among players that I had to give it a shot. It's crazy how much easier the game becomes.

When my main account got banned from EA games for 72 hours I made a new account and had a lot of fun restarting. I had better games on the character with no mag ammo, body armor, or Ex2 than my main who had everything unlocked. Those perks really don't make the player who uses them godly compared to others that don't as flanking tactics and getting the upper hand on the enemy will always be more deadly than some perk that gives either +25 damage or health.

I would emphasize picking up kits more often. As you can use all their toys. But if you're just showing how to rank up without doing that it is understandable.

lol, I noticed PC gamers complain about the tanks a lot. I was in a game of heavy metal and over the text chat I read "GET OUT OF THE TANKS SCRUBS! FUCKIN' NOOB TANKS!" and I saw that at somepoint early of the video. Maybe its just the fact they have the ability to bitch about it to everyone or not but I rarely hear my squadmates complain about tanks on console, and I usually play with randoms

This happens a lot on ps3 when it doesnt sync your stats. It happened this past weekend for me and that stuff is hard but you have to play smarter and not engage a player unless you have an advantage.

@johnniem2nd Yeah it glitches a lot. Pretty much every time I turn it on my stats are dropped or revived. They do always go back to normal but it's kind of a pain when you're rank 1 for a match or two.
And have you noticed, sometimes your map goes away and you don't see player names or anything? I hate that.
I love this game though.

i hardly use magnum no matter what gun, id rather have body armor so if my teammates die i can take more damage so i can stay alive as their mobile spawn point

You forget, that not only do noobs have to deal with not having all the unlocks, but they also don't know HOW to play the game. You're doing well because you're experienced. I'm not sure if this level 1 thing is worth making a whole series about.

@sweetxix Sorry, I misunderstood. Yes, If you link Battlefield Play4free to the same EA account as the account you use for console BF games, it will raise your veteran status across all platforms. You can do this with any full game, but not expansions/PC mods.
I've heard with some people the veteran system can be quite buggy, when they link games to their account their veteran status doesn't go up when it should. This happened to me so I went into EA live support chat and they fixed it.

My daughter just created a new account (energizerbunney) on the PS3 and has been doing just fine - but does get frustrated sometimes not having even a health pack as a medic at the start!

I laugh at the people who disparage hip firing. If someone is at close or even medium range, you're putting yourself at a huge disadvantage by not hip firing because you think it's "nooby". Once I figured that out I almost never lose a close or medium range battle with an SMG. Works for most assault rifles as well, but is not recommend for LMGs for the obviously spread reason.
