  • ill tell u who we do cuz we watch dis vid

  • Thanks

  • Who watches the Watchmen? ADD addled kids who think this shit is quality.

  • Never really understood what people got out of trolling. You obviously don't like Watchmen yet you watch fan-vids on youtube about it?

    I laff at you

  • Wow if you told me that Gibbons sat down and 'comic-ized' Jeffrey Dean Morgan for the 1985 GN I'd believe you. The similarity between some of the actors in the movie to the comic is unreal.

  • ya rorschach and his actor= perfect harmony

  • Brilliant Music. Top notch!

  • The ozy manip actually isn't far off from the real thing

  • NOTE TO EVERYONE:

read the book, its way better than the movie has a chance to be

  • So true, this movie may be visually interesting but Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons graphic novel is the gold standard.

  • It's not a graphic novel, it's a friggin comic book.

  • Please look up the definition of Graphic Novel. You will see that Watchmen is both a comic book and a graphic novel. It was original published as a comic book then latter published as a graphic novel. please do a little research before you comment.

  • Hey do you define Maus as a comicbook?

How about A Contract With God?

or From Hell?, one can argue the semantics of what constitutes a comicbook vs a graphic novel,

Watchmen is listed in Time Magazines best 100 novels created,

    it's a graphic novel.

  • The denomination Graphic Novel is an unnecessary attempt to make comic-books look "serious" by including them in literature. Well, let's be clear: comic books are not literature, no more than films are photography. They have things in common, but are separated disciplines.

What about "Understanding Comics"? Is it a "Graphic Essay"?

And the so oft-cited inclusion in Time's list is just pathetic. An Eisner Award is by far a better recognition in the field of sequential art.

  • @papapepepenultimo

If comic books are not literature, what are they ?

  • Comic books are comic books, an art in its own right. Or "sequential art", if you will. They don't even need to have a single word on them (what kind of literature can you say the same about? Are there novels without words?)

New arts tend to be looked as a form of an older art. At first, photography was considered an inferior form of painting, cinema an inferior form of theater, TV an inferior form of cinema. And so on.

  • @papapepepenultimo

I don't understand you hatred of the name " graphic novel ". I think there should be a distinction between a single issue and a collection of single issues. That's where the name "graphic novel' comes in. Without it , what would you call a collection of issues ? You can not call it a "comic book" because a comic book is a single issue. So, the name "graphic novel" can be used in other ways than you described. That makes it a necessary name.

  • Well for me Will Eisner's 'A Contract With God' qualifies as a graphic novel it's a combination of words and art that was done as a novel, Osamu Tezuka's 8 volume epic Buddha was also sold as books which were not something stapled together and sold on a newsstand. Art Spiegleman's Maus is something I have no problem calling literature even though it's a combination of words and pictures, Same with Joe Sacco's Palestine.

  • And Robert Crumb's 'Book Of Genesis'

which is an original hardback graphic novel book, of course wheither a retelling of the Biblical Book of Genesis qualifies as literature (IMO it does) is something I'll leave up to the experts.

You're quite right though that the comicbook is "an art in it's own right"

like Chris Ware's 'Jimmy Corrigan, The Smartest Kid On Earth' and Dave McKean's 'Cages' Mazzucchelli's 'Atrex'

This is a young artform with no limits as to what it can achieve.

  • Very impressive.

  • rorschach is just hardcore

  • lol

  • I'm actually glad they changed ozymandias's costume colours for the film. Before he honestly looked like a failed L.A. Lakers mascot.

  • i liked nite owl beeing a little tubby

  • i prefer rorschach bald in a way i dont think the comic portrayal of him looks bad ass.

  • i'm reading Watchmen novel now. just started on Chapter 8, very good book.

but what you expect from hollywood? they are always going to change shit from novels, and leave things out. plus, they are obveiously going to change few character's looks. they do that all the time, its nothing new to Hollywood.

but i am getting tired of Hollywood changing everything. i hope they leave Watchmen movie the same as the Book. even though the characters may not look the same.

  • Oh they are. I heard they even changed the ending.

  • shit, I hope they don't change Adrian Veidt's parts. His parts on the last 2 chapters are important. They are probly just going to make Adrian Veidt this bad psychopath, but really in the book, he is a pyscho but he made a few good points on things on the last 2 chapters.

  • Me too

  • the ending is remaining the same. it was confirmed by zack snyder.

  • Hallelujah, there *is* a god.

  • Watchmen's the kind of novel that I don't think Hollywood people should be wondering how best to interpret. If they can't do it exactly as it is, don't touch it the hell at all.

  • I cant imagin 2 hours doing justice for this. The only way to enjoy the film is to have read the comic first. There are gonna be so many people in theatres going W.T.F...

This should be a TV series....

  • Your both right. I think they should have split the book into a movie trilogy.

  • but I dont want to spoil the movie, am I going to really lost?

  • But your okay spoiling the comic? Its upto you but with a movie you dont get chance to go back if u miss somthing.

If u dont like reading comics there is also the animated comic, you could just watch the 1st issue of that and it wont spoil anything.

  • i hate this song

  • THE BIGGEST QUESTION PEOPLE ARE WONDERING ABOUT THIS MOVIE!!!!!

Does the Owl ship get good gas mileage???

  • lol, i wonder?

  • Looks good but all the actors look way too young for the characters who are all in thier 40's and 50's

  • They are fine, but Ozymandias needs some workout and Nite Owl was heavier and older in the graphic novel.

  • cool thanks for the video, very helpful.

  • Just so you all know, they chose young actors on purpose. This way they can show them in flashbacks as young and "age" them for modern time through make up. This was stated on the official website for the movie.

  • I was actually guessing that, It's the same as they did in Sergio Leones "One Upon A Time In America" ... And that worked great :) I'm so exited about this movie... I wish I was "Captain Manhattan".. then I would already have seen the movie in the future ;)

  • It's "Dr Manhattan" I hope they'll at least have a wig for Rorschach in this film.

  • Doh.. offcorse, I'm always messing up names. Was a bit tired ;)lol, really hope so... Bet it was a weird experience for him going from baldie to redhead for a whole movie ;)

  • Hope this movie does the novel justice, thx for the vid

  • I think Silk Specter should be played by Lena Headey.

  • The man playing Ozymandias is a pussy.

  • I just hope the director doesn't repeat the same move every other director has done when it came down to making a movie based off a comic book. Please don't make this film a nightmare.

  • This song fits the Watchmen comic like a glove.

  • it has ability to fail and ability to be great i hope its great cause i love the book

  • I feel the same way. That's my feeling on most comic book movies. They could be bad but we hope there good.

  • I completely agree. So many bad omens around this movie. Zack Snyder is going to make a 300 of the Watchmen (a box office smash piece of $&^%) He lacks the restraint necessary to direct such a subtle and complex work. Already the characters are made to look way too intimidating, young, and hip. Alan Moore took his name off the movie credits and no one is more unqualified for directing this film then Snyder. Gilliam was probably the only one who could have done this film justice

  • I think the whole cast needs to be older, especially Nite Owl and Ozymandias.

In the story It's been what, 8 years since the "Keene Act" was passed that banned all non government sponsored vigilantes.

They are all now middle aged and older except for the Silk Specter who would be in her mid thirties.

  • the only one that seems off to me is Nite Owl. He looks too young. The others are fine.

  • I agree. Also he is too skinny. Nite Owl should be thick like an owl.

  • this films going to have to three or four hours long to even come close to dealing with even the simplest aspects of this comic =/

  • okay so the casting is all messed up here is my opinion of who should play who.

The Comedian- Jessie the Body Ventura

    Nite Owl II- Nicholas Cage

Rorsach- I think the dude they have now is fine

    Silk Spectre II- Catherine Zeta

    Vietdt- Daniel Day Lewis

    Doc- Will be fine

    Nite Owl- Robert Duvall

    Silk Spectre- Sally Field

Let's Remember the superheros in Watchemen are in there 40's and the comedian in his 50-60's

  • are u sure bout that ?

  • The guy playing Kovacs-I saw him in "Little Children." He's got the creepy act covered, and aside from the hair he looks just like him. I can't say much about Silk Spectre, Veidt and Manhattan, but the guy playing the Comedian looks more like his character than any of the other actors (which is cool because he was my favorite character.) Only issue is Nite Owl - the character looks more like the CEO of Valve Software than this guy...too young, too skinny...but with makeup and effects, meh.

  • The casting for this very important movie seems to be way off the mark. The chap playing Adrian Vedt seems to be completely wrong for the part. And isn't Nite Owl supposed to be a pot bellied, middle aged retired super-hero? I hope Mr Snyder knows what he's doing.

  • I completly agree with you on this one. Everything looks good about this film EXCEPT the cast. The costumes, the set design, Nite owl's flying machine, etc.. everything looks great, with the exception of that cast. They look nothing like the characters on the comic.

    Nice slideshow BTW.

  • Agree with you both! Lets only hope they can act... then thei're apperiance won't matter THAT much. Still, the age problem is strange. If they planning to stay fatefull to the origginal story...

  • That was very cool and actually, sting wrote this song about the government WATCHING US.

  • Really, I did not know that.

Why does he care about the U.S.? He's British right.?

  • The British pay close attention to news about the US. The US has some worldwide influence.

  • this song is very wrong for the story. . .

  • i remember buying dc collector cards and not knowing half of them.

i was a marvel kid to be honest. i guess when it came down to it, the artwork style put alot of kids off.

Superman was cool,as was batman, but these characters never appealed to me. now im older & reading about alans moores The Watchmen, its quite fascinating his look at the superhero. ill read more into the series and hope the movie does not disapoint true Watchmen loyalist.

  • It's Watchmen, not "The Watchmen". . .dumbass. . .

  • how about i cram "the" up your ass and shove "fuck you " down your throat dickhead.

  • Oh, you'd like that wouldn't you. . .? Fag. Unfortunately for you I don't swing that way. I'll tell you what. If I ever get a little curious i'll be sure to give you a call o.k.?

  • It's Watchmen, not "The Watchmen." Dumbass. . .

  • Who cares , Does that matter ? Some one's a little anal retentive.

  • This was REALLY REALLY well put together!

  • Cha5 says it all.Gorgeous video, gorgeous artwork,I like the Sting Music. You have a good eye for casting.Unfortunately, hollywood is ruled by Big Biz and Prostitution.Your Paintings and extra artwork are amazing.

  • No thats the actual cast for the movie, Which

  • Which what?Anyway I've changed my mind, this movie just might be decent.

  • Sorry bout that got caught off. Which to my mind is pretty great. All of them are great actors especially Crudup and the thing that blows me away isMorgan's resemblance to the Comedian

  • Yeah,it's great that lesser known stars have been chosen to represent the watchmen.Imagine how tacky it could have been if big name hollywood stars like cruise, pitt etc had been chosen. That would have been bad,Maybe Zac will make this worthwhile even if Alan Moore is distancing himself from the whole thing.

  • This guy has a point

  • I really liked the artwork in this video,

I still think this Watchmen movie will be a disappointment, But I liked your video.
