  • Fresh Prince sent me Here lol

  • I swear as much as an icon as Oprah is the only thing that comes to mind with this song is Carlton (Alfonso Riberio) doing that dance...lmao. Probably one of the most memorable TV moments!

  • ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?! I NEVER KNEW THIS EXISTED THANK YOU

  • Like if it was carton banks who brought you here

  • I would wash your feet for 10000 years if you did have the 1986-1989 theme because I have been looking for it for years.

You must work for her show to get the full theme. Wow this is amazing.

  • i came up with my own words to this theme song.

ears perked up when this song came on

  • Damn that Carlton can move like no other!

  • I love this theme song so much Im gonna play it at my next party.

I dont care if im the only one dancing.Im gonna play this.

  • @canicole20 LOL thats awesome, I'd dance!

  • Before Quincy Jones and Oprah Winfrey both became very huge success stories, didn't these two BOTH grow up in bad neighborhoods?

They are counteracting the stereotypes that people put on blacks who grow up in bad neighborhoods.

These two are such an inspiration

  • lol i'm envisioning carlton from fresh prince jammin' to this!

  • Oh my gaaaaAAAAAAAWDD!!!! I was thinking about this the other day! I used to bounce up and down as a kid to this!

  • Thank you so so much for posting this!!! my wee heart is all happy!! xx

  • I love this! This is the theme I associate with Oprah show.

  • I'd do oprah,

  • cant listen to this without picturing carlton dancing! LMAO!

  • BEST TALKSHOW THEME EVER

Im sorry, but from 0:57 to 1:23 its so damn funky!

  • I literally laughed out loud with tears rolling down my face, the first time I saw Carlton dancing to the theme!

  • Don't you also have the slow version to this song?

  • @TheRealBigAL1989 FOR THE WIN GOTTA LOVE CARLTON

  • GOD, this just makes me miss the early '90s SO, so much... You have no idea. When I was little, I remember sitting in front of the big TV in the living room, watching "Jeopardy!" at 3:00, and "Family Feud" at 3:30; both on our Dallas, TX, ABC affiliate, WFAA Channel 8 ("The Spirit of Texas!") Then, when 4:00 rolled around, and I heard this awesome theme song, I would head into my room, and watch "Disney Afternoon" so that Grandma could watch "Oprah" on the main TV... Man, I miss bein' a kid! :-(

  • @gameshowluvr86 Aww man..why did you bring up the Disney Afternoon!! Now I am sucked in to a whirlpool of nostalgia!!!

  • @isleofcapri2 I'm tellin' ya, bro... late 1989-1993 need to come back just for a week... ;-)

  • @isleofcapri2

This is why I try not to watch 90's material on youtube because everytime I do I always get sucked into nostalgia.

  • @gameshowluvr86 being a kid in the 90s was the best! and late 80s too

  • Everytime I hear this all I picture is Carlton dancing to this

  • Do you have the 1986-89 Oprah Winfrey Theme Song.

  • @jmjfanss No.

  • Thanks for posting this. Thought I was probably the only person searching for this theme on and off for years :)

  • Hot Chelle Rae sampled this in their song "Tonight, Tonight" right?

    I'm not crazy?

  • @KoopstaKnicka how bout noooo and yeessss int that order.

  • @hopeonelove So, no they didn't sample this, and no, I'm in fact not crazy?

    Very well.

  • @KoopstaKnicka of course your not... just misguided.

  • @hopeonelove I see...very well.

But you have to admit, they sound, very similar.

  • Thank You for posting!! This is Classic Oprah. Probably the best Opening from the entire show's run.

  • Carlton banks...that is all lol

  • thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU, JALDRIDGE86! Forever a hero to many! OK maybe I shouldn't have gone overboard, no? LOL, anyway it does a great service to many like mine who have searched high and dry to look for that great theme (I think 'great' is bit understatement of a word to be honest) only to find out it was in a demo album of a temptation, UGH! If only sooner. I left a comment on the wall of those watching the 'carlton dance' where to find you Trust me it's only the beginning. THX AGAIN!

  • We need an Oprah winfrey 1986 Theme

    I Miss the show.

  • Woh this is amazing quality!, didn't Qunicy Jones produce the first theme song too? Do you have that one too?

  • @RuffDogg1991 The first theme was composed by Frank McNulty. No, I don't have that one. Thanks!

  • @JAldridge86 I suspected McNulty composed the 1986 theme, but I've never been certain until now (I only know he used to be the Music Director or somesuch).

  • @5foot11dude It was produced by McNutty. I liked that one

  • Best talk show theme song. Period. Ever.

  • @excuseyou77 agreed

  • am i the only one that remembers Carlton dancing to this on the Fresh Prince of Bel- Air

  • @tvfan06 LOL gotta love it.

  • @tvfan06 no you're not! :-)

  • @tvfan06

    Lmao Nope me too.

  • Not if there are already YouTube videos exclusively featuring that clip. :)

  • @tvfan06 Nope, you're not the only one, lol. I still got that image in my head.

  • Thank you . . . so did Rod Temperton perform, and Quincy Jones write it? I never knew the Temperton connection! Interesting!

  • @ennsma To be honest, I really am not sure. It sounds like it from what I've read.

  • forgot to say thanks for posting this :) and i'm curious....where/how did you find this "unadulterated" piece?? it is a gem!

  • @ennsma Thanks for commenting! It was actually on a demo album entitled "The Songs Of Rod Temperton."

  • Thanks a huge bunch. I've been looking for this unadulterated piece for *ages*.

Out of curiosity, was this theme introduced at the very beginning of Season 4, or towards the end of Season 3? Do you have the 1986 theme as well?

    Thanks again.

  • @5foot11dude Thanks very much, pretty sure it was the beginning of season 4. I've seen some early 1989 episodes around here with the original theme. I wish I did have that one. Thanks for watching! =)

  • Wow i've been looking for this....... Oprah channel should have this as there universal theme!!!!

  • A 1:41 time machine! wow. I've not heard this in its entirety . . . only snippits from commercial breaks and bumpers. Don't you remember guests crying, shouting, laughing, and trying to talk over this as it pushed them to the break? Ahhhh . . . this, is something you can hum; this, children of the millenium, is a theme song!!!!

  • thanks SO MUCH for posting this! This is one of those clips that you think you will be a easy to find on YouTube but turns out to be a white buffalo...almost mythical that you'll actually ever see it on here...excuse me while I get my Carlton dance on...

  • I had no idea this song was so ingrained in my memory but on her finale show, Oprah played a little bit of this and when I heard it I was like OMG because it transported me back to being a kid again...i prob heard this hundreds of times as a kid in the afternoon after school but back then I was too busy being a kid while this played in the background...i guess it stuck...ha ha

  • Today At 4 On Ch 7 !! I been waiting for this song for years !! YaY

  • @Matty3697 For me, it was "Today at 4:00, on WFAA Channel 8... The Spirit of Texas!" ;-)

  • The GOAT talk show theme

  • omg yes i remember this now esp those cheesy late 80s electronic thumb snaps lol !! sooo outdated. yet, i at 1st i didnt recognize it but now ..oh yes I do lol. Im pretty sure she had this theme around for a good few yrs- like until at least 93 or so?

  • @Jako32 Yes, 1993.

  • I did not know that Quincy Jones did Oprah's theme!

  • @bhayes06 Neither did I. I also had no idea it dated back to 1989...thought it was around '92 or so.

  • @tvpirate05 Yes, used until 1993.

  • @JAldridge86 Thanks...I believe after this theme, they used an instrumental of Whitney Houston's remake of "I'm Every Woman".
