Why do we still debate the existence of God? The sun, love, art, emotion, peace, value of money existences can't be doubted even if they rely on human ideas, behavior, knowledge, social and cultural consensus, yet God has no demonstrable evidence of existence.
I'm proud of being of Christian descent even though I'm not observant. We don't chop off women's clitorises like the Muslims do and we don't annex land from the Palestinians like the Israelis do
@kashifv Oh please don't fool yourself. Stop pretending Christians have a clean rapsheet. Torturing and burning children alive accused of witchcraft (Ghana), Kill to restore Christ's kingdom (crusaders, Anders Breivik, IRA, Spanish Inquisition), defiled other cultures and land for personal gain (Manifest Destiny). Don't delude yourself into thinking your denomination is "better" than anyone other.
Of course christians never admit that if you believe in the bible then you must believe morals are relative to "the times" and god. Many parts of Moses' law would be considered extremely immoral today. The middle east today mirrors the the old testament times very closely. Infallible means incapable of mistakes, the bible cannot be infallible if there are over 3000 noted errors. They are HUMAN errors, but one would expect more from a book which claims divine intervention upon its writing process
@dataDyne6 Could you please tell me one? Cause I havn't found anything. The Bible is God's explanation to man of how to attain eternal life. Can you tell me in your infinate understanding of the Bible the means to eternal life. Also, the Mosaic law was for that time. We are not bound by that law anymore, for we have grace instead. Christs death and blood made it unnescesary for us to live by the Old Testament law. We have grace and mercy now, thanks to Christ, rather than harsh laws.
@Youngwiseman1 1/2 What kind would you like? Translative, contradictory to self, contradictory to the laws of the universe? Understanding how the Bible came to be, and having read it in its entirety, I cannot respectfully say it is the word OF God, rather that it is the RCC's compilation about their accepted god. The Bible contains finite knowledge and there is finite knowledge outside of it(about it). There is not much known about the afterlife, every person's experiences are
@Youngwiseman1 2/2 different(afterlife experiences). They vary too much in both vagueness and in detail to be able to confirm that every person either has eternal life or eternal suffering(hell). Many Mosaic laws are vile and unnecessary, even for their time, and lead me to believe they were derived from the minds of primitive, primal men, and not an all-knowing, malevolent being(s). The new laws don't grant justice either. I know for a fact no church follows 100% of the New (+3)
@Youngwiseman1 I have read Revelation. It arouses more questions than answers them, such as, what is their perception of a star? (A star will come down into the ocean and pollute the waters-????? not a meteor, comet, asteroid.. a star?). As for Mosaic Laws, once again, they contradict the theory of objective morality. The Bible bears the ineradicable mark of primordial minds, who knew little of health, variables to situations, etc... Have you read 1, 2 Infancy?
@Youngwiseman1 +3 Of the New Testament's laws. And the way of salvation leaves God's "grace" irrelevant. Ultimately your God chooses who he favors (those who were lucky enough to hear about Christ and then accept him) to enter into heaven. It is far too exclusive, it is not justice. Many mosaic laws prove that God makes morals relative to the times, and ultimately himself (for giving them). Objective morals mean something is right/wrong regardless of time, culture, etc... (+4)
@dataDyne6 Wow, just listening to that response makes me wanna cry. Tears of pain and sadness for the fact that, when you die, you will burn. God is crying right now, as am I. And it is not exclusive. His grace is for everyone who hear his message and believe, and if they havn't heard, there is still grace for them.
@Youngwiseman1 (+4/2) Objective morals mean something is right/wrong regardless of time, culture, etc... Which means that forcing a woman to marry her rapist and stoning women who have lost their virginity before marriage is either morally correct or it isn't, it always was and will be or never was. These are laws which have nothing to do with Christ's sacrifice. Objective morals cannot be supported by the Bible.
@Everyone ""You came looking for something and were apparently turned away by (?) ... Instead of arguing with you, what part of God are you looking for and is there something you need to help you along the way? Coming here and looking shows some good on your part even though your words conflict ..."" Saw this on a post and thought it was really deep. Anwser this please.
I really don't understand your comments. What,s not to like? We should all be aware of the fact that there will most likely be something in any persons teaching that you disaprove of. I've watched this series. I have almost completly read the Bible. What he speaks of is complete truth. Most people don't like the truth.Like it or not, it is truth.
@DongusEddy Well actually those other religions aid Satan because they are not the truth but they are close to the truth. Satan works through half lies. Those are the most dangerous because people believe them because they sound like the truth.
It is very sad how people will go out of their own way to mock God and all who believe in him.Why do people have to post inappropriate comments?I'm a teenager ,and its sad that I have to say... grow up.
@adushane23 Satan and those who refuse to know the truth spend more time attacking Christianity than other faiths. Why? Why should Satan bother attacking anything other than the truth that will be his undoing? The Enemy fights the greatest threat.
All I can say is that this study is one of the most impactful, intellegent studies that I've ever been in. There a lot of people that really, really hate the idea that their post-modern relativism can't be true, and so this study tends to make them upset, that someone has finally said no. Your ideas are completely wrong as long as they aren't supported by Christ. It's beautiful and much needed for this generation to take away the lens of "me, me, me!" and replacing it with the truth of Christ.
@andythorn1313 The lens of "me, me, me"? Interesting. In my experience, many Christians are quite self-centered and solipsistic themselves. People (particularly religious ones) are quick to use personal conviction, wishful thinking and voices in their head as "proof" of the alleged truthfulness of various bronze age notions, and although they believe they'll be in Heaven for eternity after death, they're swift to grab more than their share of mundane pleasures. In my experience.
@Pomme843 Its the way most humans are. What these Christians who were raised in Christianity don't realize is that if they had been raised in an extremist Islamic society, they would follow the flock before having read the Koran in its entirety, as they are doing with Christianity and the Bible. Its so sad to see how society indoctrinates children before they are old enough to read it alone, constantly breathing down their backs spoon-feeding them their idiocy.
@Pomme843 Somebody obviously doesn't know much about god. Did you know that not every person who says their a christian is? Those people who say they are are known as luke-warm christians. Their the ones who are self-centered, and, if you are a true christian, then you don't beleive you'll go to Heaven, you'll know. Also, God never said we can't have happiness while here, in fact, he said that we should take pleasure in the world. But he did say that the happiness has to be through him.
@Youngwiseman1 What is it that I seemingly don't know about god?
"Did you know that not every person who says their a christian is? Those people who say they are are known as luke-warm christians. Their the ones who are self-centered..."
In my experience, the "most religious" people are the most self-absorbed, e.g. the Pope. The act of praying, too, is egoistical. Although one is praying for other people, it is the one who is praying who feels better afterwards. No one else.
@Pomme843 Also, youngwiseman1, I think your assertion that "lukewarm Christians" are the ones who are self-centered, is an implicit No True Scotsman fallacy. You seem to imply that Christians are non-self-centered by definition - an implication that is deemed as cheating, as in said type of fallacy.
I think it's a bad idea to take pleasure in the world by taking people's money and behaving like a narcisistic psycho. Alos, how do you know what god has said, or even that he exists?
I hated this series. I got so sick of how he twisted people's words and changed the meanings of their statements. I stopped watching them half way. As a believer myself, it's guys like this that make other believers look like idiots.
how can anyone hate this or think its a joke untill they themselves check it out?, its like calling anything (even what you believe who is reading this message) a joke of a trailer without watching it... its like judging a movie from a trailer without watching the movie... you all think your intellegent, but you dont act it.
@KarnageFSF All that is said on the DVDs is based on what people on the street talk, what scientists say, physical, chemical and many other non-Christians ... then the world we live in is just bullshit. Thanks God i am free from this bullshit world !!!
I have gone through most of this study, with only a couple of more weeks left to view...it is an awesome study! To think how wise our forefathers were in putting together this nation. This society was not built as a secular society, but based on strong Christian principles. A good example is the 1690 Primer in which 1st graders learned to read, this was no "see Spot run" or "run Jane run."
I have seen this series. He takes peoples words out of context to validate his agenda. This is the most stupid works of propaganda I have ever seen next to what the NAZI's did in WWII.
This "truth" video polarizes people more than anything. If you believe, you'll believe more. If you don't believe, you'll be annoyed and pulled farther away because this is just religious propaganda. This video contains no evidence that miraculously reveals an astounding revelation proving God exists. It just pounds already believed ideas, into the minds of the believers even more. Anyone who watches, expecting to be lured, if they don't believe, will be turned off.
The group I am in with my church just completed week 4, and it is so insightful. I love all of the lessons I've seen so far. It really makes you think and I hope evryone who even watches the trailer will have the desire to know more and draw closer to God.
I am taking this course at two different locations at the same time! I am on lesson 6 at one of them and lesson 7 at the other! Then my goal is to facilitate some lessons in my home eventually...love it!
I have done this 12 week course 4 times and each time I am amazed at the clear course our creator has set for his people, the clear creator designed patterns found in creation and the Biblical accuracy of the course. The Father of Lies loves to decieve believers -cling to the truth as revealed in Holy Scripture!
Anyone on here can argue what they want about this video and what this blessed man has to teach about the world and God. God is truth! Man is ignorant! The truth of the Bible is from God and that's what helps believer in Jesus Christ to model their lives by. Those who choose not to believe in Jesus as God's son, choose to live in darkness and those who choose to believe in Jesus as God's Son will live in the light and truth! Seek God and you will find truth!!! Disbelife in God is fear of truth
why would i bother watching a biased video about a slanted version of a person's "truth"? the problem is, much like children rqised by religious parents thoae poor kida are presented with facts that only support one world view. same thing as this video and everything i have read on it.
@Trenaur I will pray for you. Children who are raise to believe in God and how He sent His one and only son to die on the cross for everyone's sin aren't forced to do anything! they are brought up in the Hope and Truth God has given anyone who believes on His Son Jesus. What hope does the world offer??? NONE! With God we have everything! We have hope, truth, mercy, grace and love can the world love you unconditionally as God does? This video is far from biased.
@dlaumbach1 Of course they are forced...you act like children have some sort of choice when they are little. You act as if they have the capacity to comprehend the actuual truth about scienece.
I feel sorry for you that you think the world has nothing to offer...that is a sad way to live.
@Trenaur I was a child raised in a christain home and I never felt forced to go to church or to believe anything. I accept Jesus as my Savior when I was 7 yrs old and now at 28 yrs old I still proclaim my strong belifes in Jesus. I take my 2 children to church so they can have the hope of Jesus in their lives and they love it!!! My oldest son ask everyday mommy can we go to church today, I want to go to church mommy. You make assumtions and speak of things that are not true for all.
@dlaumbach1 Your sentence "I accepted Jesus as my savior at 7 years old" immediately proves my point. You, at 7 years old, have not had the life experiences to not only understand or comprehend the real science behind life but you also have not even fully heard about the veritable smorgasbord of other religions out there. So yes, you we're duped just like every other child of religious parents and as you are doing to your children right now. You cannot seriously deny it.
@Trenaur As I stated I know about evolution, duh! they teach it in school and it is FALSE! All children are led by and tought by their parents! That's why parents are called parents because parents are in authority over their children raising them to know right from wrong! truth from a lie! how to read! how to dress themselves! what's healthy and whats not! Does it look like a baby is born and can take care of its self and think for its self immediately no! seriously you speak ignorantly!!!
@dlaumbach1 Yeah so this paragraph pretty much had no substance. What I said before still stands. You demonstrated no knowledge of Evolution other than "IT"S FALSE!". If that is your measure of a counter point then there is no point in talking further about it with you. You and your ignorance of science will blissfully believe whatever you want to believe. But rest assured your TRUTH is not reality.
@Trenaur also I gave and quoted a bible verse as to why evolution is FALSE! it stated in that bible verse I gave in 1 John 4. Evolution is a worldly view from man who wants to refuse to believe in creation. Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. You want to say creationism is false yet you have not prove to me it is false. Have you ever read the bible? what makes you think it is wrong? Because you might not like what it has to say, cause it gives teaches morals?
@dlaumbach1 If you believe everything in the bible is true than it is likely true that your "morals" are reprehensible at best and lawless at worst. If you think the bible is a true source of morals then you either A: have not read it fully (I have because I actually study the arguements on both sides very much, not just "learn about it in school" as you have) or B: are a terrible person. Creationism is false because that notion supposes a god whisped life into being. Doesn't happen my friend
@Trenaur you have not told me anything about evolution. And I don't impress anything onto my children. While they are young yes I teach them what I believe as far as I know that's not a crime? Once they are older they can deside for thereselves what they believe and I will love them and pray for them the same then as I do know. Also just because you have studied the agruements on both sides does not mean you know anything!
@Trenaur yes I did say I was 7 yrs old, you don't have to have life experiance to know Jesus as Savior you just have to believe what God says about Jesus that He sent His one and only Son Jesus to die for our sins. and I also said I am 28 yrs old now and I have had 28 yrs world of life experiances and my belife has not changed, that should tell you something about how Great and Mighty God is, that after all these years I still believe in Jesus!
@Trenaur do you think my parents still tell me what to do and think??? Well I assure you they do not! I am a adult and have been for awhile. Your reply is just proof that you do not understand the Holy Bible nor have you taken the time to learn about it or understand God created all things! :) 1 John 4:1- Dear Friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see weather they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
@dlaumbach1 Do they tell you what to do? Well who knows...I don't know you personally other than your misguided ramblings here. But you are proving that your parent provided childhood brain washing worked on you...so yes in a sense they are still telling you what to do.
I am sure your children are going through the same thing too right now. I feel bad for them that they are always being swayed on an arugement of far rgeater magnitude than their minds can handle right now.
@Trenaur This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowlege Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have herd is coming and even now is already in the world.
To say that I believe because I was raised that way is false because if you raised your children to believe only evolution then you are doing the same and therefore are a hypocrite.
@Trenaur well my question to you then is who brain washed you into believeing evolution? I am not brained washed but thanks hahah.... your funny! I ask do you personally have children of your own? I know there is little point in talking to you because you are close minded and blind. There is absoulte truth! you do not believe there is truth verses a lie? Do you not believe in God because you cannot see Him? why should I teach my children evolution, that man was an ape and evolved into man?
@dlaumbach1 No one did. When I was old enough to understand the concepts being discussed between the bible and other faith based claims of life vs. actual science...the choice becomes clear which is rationale and which is just fairy tale. Yes I have kids and they will decide for themselves when they are older what world view they choose to follow. I am not impressing my beliefs upon them as you are with your kids.
@Trenaur Well I feel for you and your kids. I show my kids love and give them hope beyond understanding. You can stand in judgement of me all you want but you speak of things you do not know about my life. You asume you know it all and are prideful with a big ego. If you studies both creationism and evolution, then how come you have nothing to state about evolution to me? I gave you proof in the Bible, which you don't like but I still showed you why I believe what I believe.
@dlaumbach1 I love how you assume I don't show my kids love...lol. Again, go fully read the bible...it ain't all about love baby...I promise you. I don't have an ego...I just am not brainwashed to believe what amounts to nonsensical bullshit. But hey, more power to ya...I hope for your kids sake that they won't fall into the brainwash trap as you have.
@Trenaur just because you said you have read the Bible does not mean you understand the interpitation of the Bible that's why their are pastors who go to seminary so they can correctly teach the Bible. I did not say that you don't love your kids, although you act as though I don't love my kids because I let them go to church with me and hear what my beliefs are. If you truly believe in evolution I find it hard to believe that you have not talked to your kids about it.
@dlaumbach1 Talking about beliefs is difficult I think for alot of people because it personal you know it part of who we are what we stand for etc. I understand reasons why you might feel evolution is true because its got since behind it and as you say. I don't believe since is the end all be all just as you feel creationism is a fairy tale according to your opinion. I am sorry if I offended you that's not what I wanted to do.
@Trenaur I am not here to judge you, the way that you are judging me. I just want anyone who doesn't know the love of Jesus to hear about it and spark an intrest in finding out for themselves not because I say so but because God says so in the Bible. You want people to believe in evolution so you are no different than me cause you want people to believe what you believe so you don't have to be mean about it.
@Trenaur I assure you I am not flawless or perfect nor do I try to be. As for the Bible it is full of many teachings on right from wrong, Good from bad and so much more etc. If you read the bible and you have one look up John 3:16 thats all anyone really needs to know. As for evoution I will study it more and get the facts so I can answer questions correctly against evolution because I don't believe it, it sounds worst than a fairy tale to me.
@Trenaur I understand we will not be in agreement on this subject but I believe you are a good person who is lost and I wish you a blessed life. I truly care for those who don't Believe in Jesus and I keep you in my prayers and if you ever try to pray I would hope you could pray for me too that God will continue to help me speak the truth to unbelievers. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
@Trenaur and by the way I went to public school and I have herd the worlds view too... believe me we are not apes! Do you not think the church treaches other views? Well my church teachs how the bible proves to be true against all other believes example: mormanism, jahova witnesses, new age, islam etc... I had studies what many of these other belifes clam and according to God Holy word the are false anti- christ.
Would you say that if this was from an Atheistic perspective?
People want truth, they are willing to search for it.
We all, as humans, have the right to try and pursue God.
I think that, and in my own opinion (not criticizing anyone's personal beliefs), people hate the idea of God. They hate Christianity because it argues intelligent design and supports the idea of God.
All of the evidence in the world can't change people's hearts unless they are willing to change.
@104bigTruck I've seen and heard enough to know what this is about. I don't need to watch it and gain any new udnerstanding of yet another person saying that the bible and god is all true.
@Trenaur All I can say is ya better keep investigating because we are all going to be standing before him one day. Anyone reading this should also like myself keep this person in prayer.
@104bigTruck There is nothing that is going to happen between now and the time I die that Jesus is real. You know how I know? Because there is NO fact or basis to believe in Jesus or any other god that has come before the Bible and all the gods in between then and now.
That is what I find the most fascinating about religous people. They turn a complete blind eye to the fact that there are 1000s of other gods to believe but they count for nothing anymore...because why? Your parents said?
@nishbrown The Bible is not a questionable book. It has not been proven false once yet and never will be. And Science (which people try to use to prove it wrong sometimes) just points back at the fact that we were CREATED which makes sense that we need a CREATOR.
@NekoShaani What would I have to prove is false to prove that the Bible is false. Would I have to prove that every claim is false, or that one claim is false?
This series IS worth going through. I did it two years ago and it was amazing. The facts pointed out and the views you hear. I love how the series gives you the views of not just Christians but of Atheists and believers of other religions.
Please at least try it with an OPEN mind before you start hating.
@jesussavesist Half truths are lies. Maybe you should of stayed in skool and studied, you might of understood history on a TRUE global scale, instead of through hatred.
Propaganda Propaganda Propaganda, Please stop fucking with mind!! 2000 years were enough, what we have in our hand, over populations, lack of resources, wars, human trafficking etc etc.. Do you really think prayers gonna solve all this problems... please let be human first, then worry about god..
@ayyawark Prayer might solve grammar problems. If you are really 2000 years old you would understand where the real problems lie. Without God, you probably wouldn't be alive today because conquering people would surely of annihilated your family. Humans without God are savage. Try being "human" first in Libya.

I am skeptical of any "project" that claims to be able to bring Christians back to God. For one thing, anyone who trusts in Christ should be being guided by the Holy Spirit to the truth, even if they are caught up in sins and worldly lies and deception. If the Holy Spirit is not sufficient to keep people grounded in truth, I doubt very seriously that any man or group of men, no matter how educated or wise will be able to accomplish this. The3 best lie is the one that is mostly true, beware...
The so-called "Truth Project" has been very disappointing and frustrating. Dr. Tackett consistently presents a particular strain of Protestant Fundamentalism as representing the totality of Christian belief, and this is 100% not true!! He is not presenting historical Christianity, and he creates many false dichotomies. For example, you can believe the theory of evolution and be a Christian!! Describing God's work through the theory of evolution does not disprove God or diminish His Glory!
In watching more of the series (my first reaction was rather premature), there is much that is commendable, such as challenging believers to actually live their lives in accordance with their beliefs, rather than mere intellectual assent to philosophical propositions. There is also much to disagree with as Dr. Tackett seems to have blinders on to any Christian perspective other than his own. Proof-texting abounds.
@ethios4 You cannot be a christian and believe in evolution.... they oppose each other. cause evolution, if true would take away the power of jesus' death... it is hard to explain, but my pastor explained it well
@wahoooification - I appreciate your opinion, however I disagree. I've heard similar arguments as you mention and I find them to be speculative, based on fallible human interpretation. I believe in the inerrancy of Scripture but not human interpretation. The science is utterly convincing to me, so I conclude there must be a way to harmonize the two. Either way, we can't know for sure, it is not a crucial issue to salvation faith, and thus a unnecessary stumbling block. My opinion.
@ethios4 - Also, I'd like to say I've watched all of the Truth Project now, and it just gets better and better with each Lesson. I was kinda on the fence at first, and there is still some I disagree with, mostly on how much focus is put on anti-evolution, but overall it is AWESOME and well worth watching.
@ethios4 Believing evolution is dismissing the whole account of Genesis, thus contradicting the Bible which is by definition of God's word. Therefore you cannot believe evolution and say on the other your are christian: you either believe one or the other. I lively suggest you look into creationism if you truly are a disciple of Jesus.
@OblivionPicturesCF - That is an overly simplistic view that does not shows respect to those of us who are very familiar with the science behind evolution and modern cosmology, and therefore have a very difficult time reconciling that knowledge with the creation story in Genesis. It is not a matter of doubting God's power or role as Creator, it is wrestling with the massive amount of evidence and logic that points to evolution and the big bang.
@OblivionPicturesCF - I have looked into creationism (and continue to), particularly through Answers in Genesis. Some of it has truly caused me to question the certainty of evolution theory and the assumptions of science, but I am nowhere near convinced because no one has presented a comprehensive and cohesive scientific model of origins from a creationist viewpoint (something I would greatly welcome). At this point I suspend judgment on the issue because....I wasn't there.
@OblivionPicturesCF - Also, it's not just a matter of Genesis. This also ties into the Flood, and the fact that Jesus Himself seems to have taken the Genesis account of creation literally. However, Jesus's primary mission was not to correct prevailing social and scientific misunderstandings of the day. For example, He had the opportunity to speak out against slavery and did not. That was not His purpose in coming.
@OblivionPicturesCF - However, I do believe a literal interpretation of Genesis makes more sense Biblically than the workarounds to fit evolution into the Bible.
Question: Do you take Jesus at His word when he says it is better to cut out the sinful eye than to persist in sin? How about when he says to also offer your cloak to the one who would sue you? Or do you 'spiritualize' and allegorize these sayings? Do you take the Bible literally when it suits you but allegorize when it does not?
@ethios4 One: I've looked in the science on both sides and from a neutral point of view, both theories should be considered (although being a christian I firmly believe the Genesis account) Considering the little space of comment I have, I did not elaborate (continued)
@OblivionPicturesCF Two: So your logic is if we take one part of the Bible litteraly, no matter what the context, the situation, the structure of the rest of the Bible, everything should be taken litterally, word for word (good luck with Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy... and that'sust some examples). That is poor and illogical reasoning . Different people, from different backgrounds were used by God to write scripture meaning the styles of writting will differ greatly from book to book but
@OblivionPicturesCF the main focus and purpose do not change. It is important to understand why the Bible was put together the way it was, who wrote the different books and their background and most importantly to whom they were writting it (I don't believe they knew about our culture way back then....). This is why I will not answer your question since it has taken scripture out of context and rephrased it.
@OblivionPicturesCF - I agree with you about context, that's why I asked the question I did. The same arguments can be applied to Genesis - that its historical/social context is that it is a theological explanation of origins, not a scientific one, coming from a particular place and time in the near east. The Bible is infallible, human interpretation is not.
@ethios4 Actually Genesis is not a theological explanation fo origins considering the ammount of detail it provides, namely considering the Flood. I have just studied this about two weeks ago and it's amazing all the little details we miss when we don't pay close attention to the text (Answers in genesis has some pretty good materiel on that but also Dr Whitcomb). It was not written for 21st century minds which is why it seems kind of fairy-talish for us but that's not the case. (continued)
@OblivionPicturesCF Genesis was originally written for the Israelites in the wilderness who had just come out of Egypt and at that time they did not use the scientific terms, language, culture we use today. Moreover if this was a theological interpretation of origins, I don't think the author would have gone to the extent of giving the exact measurements of the Ark, the genealogies, explained Babel, ect... and througout the book you find that God already has a plan in motin to save mankind.
@OblivionPicturesCF - My mind is far from made up on this issue; I continue to study it particularly from the creationist angle, since I know much less about that. Honestly I hope to one day be able to embrace a literal reading of Genesis without intellectual conflict. Thank you for your thoughts on this.
two words ILLUMINATTI SCUM,, and some more for you,, your all BRAINWASHING , IF GOD EXISTS WHY DID HE ONLY CREATE MAN IN HIS IMAGE, THERE ISNT ANY OTHER LIFE FORMS IN THE MILLIONS OF BILLIONS OF UNIVERSES OUT THER
An organization such as Focus on the Family, which bases its entire worldview and mission on converting people to an ancient, disproven Middle Eastern cult, has no business even speaking about truth, since reality and truth are far from them. They should just go back to wringing their hands about gay marriage and visiting the Creation Museum. They don't know truth, only fundamentalist Christian propaganda.
@MrBlackBrit - yeah I am the loser!!!! you know there is a man in the sky, who will punish me for thinking this piece of crap video is brainwashing people....I bow to you and thank you for calling me a loser. I now believe everything you say! I am thinking how should I thank you for your wisdom, by making you the king of my neighbors kid ant farm or send on vacation to the jungle with your friends the monkeys!!! HMMM THAT'S A PICKEL!!!
I can only imagine that The Truth Project will 'explain' why evolution is 'untrue' while creationism / intelligent design is 'the truth'. What irony, given the title of this dvd series, and the vast amount of evidence for evolution (including how we can see evolution at work before our eyes). The courtroom set in the trailer isn't as convincing as the actual Kitzmiller vs. Dover School District trial in 2005, where intelligent design didn't pass the truth test.
@iteyfc All you non-Christians keep assuming things that aren't entirely true or are entirely untrue about the Truth Project. I encourage you to find a place where a class is being held and watch it. It's beastly
@iteyfc - Yes, and this is one of my biggest criticisms of the TP. I think the Eastern Orthodox attitude is better, which is that the issue of the theory of evolution is private theological opinion, and not a critical aspect of the faith. To me the evidence for evolution is overwhelming, and I have no problem reconciling that with my belief in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have no need for a "God of the Gaps", as God is the author of all things. People needn't choose between faith and reason.
I have also shared your opinion. But I have trouble with this:
If the life of the earth is , say, 24 hours, no life occurs until the 21st hour, when in the course of 2 minutes, we have the Cambrian Exposion of Life from which all forms of phyla erupt, leaving Darwins "tree" looking more like a "lawn".
How is this reconciled?
I also have trouble with other things such as the origination of DNA. Where did it come from? It has been shown to be more complex than any computer program.
@rubbersole79 - Personally I think along the lines that God has guided the development of the universe and life within according to His plan, that He used evolution to accomplish His plan; or the He setup the initial conditions of the universe such that it would develop in the way that it has. This is in accord with my experience of life, where miraculous events occur that are reasonable and yet utterly improbable.
"The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully." -Richard Dawkins
@herald1509 ahhhh i see. well perhaps i should have chose my words more carefully. it seems highly unlikely and almost implausable that the god of the bible does in fact exist. not an absolute statement of non existence, it just seems unlikely.
@herald1509 well this gods word is at odds with what we know about the origin of man, other species aside from man, and of the universe. so this partiuclar god seems unlikely and "untruthful" since inaccuracies can be proven in his word. i take it your some form of believer ?
@hellogreenbear122 Everyone is some form of believer in something. There are linguistic inaccuracies in your typing. Does that make you untruthful? Does it make everything you say inaccurate? But for Genesis 1, you might want to consider the place that genre plays. Check out 'framework interpretation'.
@hellogreenbear122 Yeah I find that if you look at it the right way, the Bible says nothing to go against "what we know about the origin of man" etc. I think the Creation story/poem is true, but not completely literal.
@hellogreenbear122 - I'm not here to argue with you on this, but I would like to point to your post as demonstrating exactly the position that literalist-creationist rhetoric puts people in. I, for one, am sorry that such an unnecessary false dilemma has been foisted on you.
As the way of all things, what effect do you suppose its question, knowledge, understanding and application by billions of persons will have on the state of global economics, science, the humanities, education, government and business?
.
The underlying law of nature is the most important subject any person can investigate and learn about, can proceed to understand, and can then come to personally apply in life.
OK, So I've read some of these comments, I think many of you should go through the series. You'll find A LOT interesting information.
Oh, um, dsmith, Darwin was mistaken in his findings. he looked at a cell and only saw a blob. he didn't have the tech we have today to see the awe striking design of the human cell.
God didn't EVOLVE us...He created us. We don't evolve, we adapt, yes, but not evolve. our understanding has a much better chance in the study of God than anything man can provide.
You must understand that Religion is biased, and thus it will never be completely true. Spirituality, on the other hand, is an individual experience that only you can instigate.
Why do we still debate the existence of God? The sun, love, art, emotion, peace, value of money existences can't be doubted even if they rely on human ideas, behavior, knowledge, social and cultural consensus, yet God has no demonstrable evidence of existence.

They are HUMAN errors, but one would expect more from a book which claims divine intervention upon its writing process
dataDyne6 1 month ago
@dataDyne6 Could you please tell me one? Cause I havn't found anything. The Bible is God's explanation to man of how to attain eternal life. Can you tell me in your infinate understanding of the Bible the means to eternal life. Also, the Mosaic law was for that time. We are not bound by that law anymore, for we have grace instead. Christs death and blood made it unnescesary for us to live by the Old Testament law. We have grace and mercy now, thanks to Christ, rather than harsh laws.
Youngwiseman1 2 weeks ago
@Youngwiseman1 1/2 What kind would you like? Translative, contradictory to self, contradictory to the laws of the universe? Understanding how the Bible came to be, and having read it in its entirety, I cannot respectfully say it is the word OF God, rather that it is the RCC's compilation about their accepted god. The Bible contains finite knowledge and there is finite knowledge outside of it(about it). There is not much known about the afterlife, every person's experiences are
dataDyne6 2 weeks ago
@Youngwiseman1 2/2 different(afterlife experiences). They vary too much in both vagueness and in detail to be able to confirm that every person either has eternal life or eternal suffering(hell). Many Mosaic laws are vile and unnecessary, even for their time, and lead me to believe they were derived from the minds of primitive, primal men, and not an all-knowing, malevolent being(s). The new laws don't grant justice either. I know for a fact no church follows 100% of the New (+3)
dataDyne6 2 weeks ago
@dataDyne6 Read Revelation. It's an eye opener
Youngwiseman1 1 week ago
@Youngwiseman1 I have read Revelation. It arouses more questions than answers them, such as, what is their perception of a star? (A star will come down into the ocean and pollute the waters-????? not a meteor, comet, asteroid.. a star?). As for Mosaic Laws, once again, they contradict the theory of objective morality. The Bible bears the ineradicable mark of primordial minds, who knew little of health, variables to situations, etc... Have you read 1, 2 Infancy?
dataDyne6 3 days ago
@Youngwiseman1 +3 Of the New Testament's laws. And the way of salvation leaves God's "grace" irrelevant. Ultimately your God chooses who he favors (those who were lucky enough to hear about Christ and then accept him) to enter into heaven. It is far too exclusive, it is not justice. Many mosaic laws prove that God makes morals relative to the times, and ultimately himself (for giving them). Objective morals mean something is right/wrong regardless of time, culture, etc... (+4)
dataDyne6 2 weeks ago
@dataDyne6 Wow, just listening to that response makes me wanna cry. Tears of pain and sadness for the fact that, when you die, you will burn. God is crying right now, as am I. And it is not exclusive. His grace is for everyone who hear his message and believe, and if they havn't heard, there is still grace for them.
Youngwiseman1 1 week ago
@Youngwiseman1 (+4/2) Objective morals mean something is right/wrong regardless of time, culture, etc... Which means that forcing a woman to marry her rapist and stoning women who have lost their virginity before marriage is either morally correct or it isn't, it always was and will be or never was. These are laws which have nothing to do with Christ's sacrifice. Objective morals cannot be supported by the Bible.

It's beautiful and much needed for this generation to take away the lens of "me, me, me!" and replacing it with the truth of Christ.
andythorn1313 5 months ago 5
@andythorn1313 The lens of "me, me, me"? Interesting. In my experience, many Christians are quite self-centered and solipsistic themselves. People (particularly religious ones) are quick to use personal conviction, wishful thinking and voices in their head as "proof" of the alleged truthfulness of various bronze age notions, and although they believe they'll be in Heaven for eternity after death, they're swift to grab more than their share of mundane pleasures. In my experience.
Pomme843 5 days ago
@Pomme843 Its the way most humans are. What these Christians who were raised in Christianity don't realize is that if they had been raised in an extremist Islamic society, they would follow the flock before having read the Koran in its entirety, as they are doing with Christianity and the Bible. Its so sad to see how society indoctrinates children before they are old enough to read it alone, constantly breathing down their backs spoon-feeding them their idiocy.
dataDyne6 3 days ago
@Pomme843 Somebody obviously doesn't know much about god. Did you know that not every person who says their a christian is? Those people who say they are are known as luke-warm christians. Their the ones who are self-centered, and, if you are a true christian, then you don't beleive you'll go to Heaven, you'll know. Also, God never said we can't have happiness while here, in fact, he said that we should take pleasure in the world. But he did say that the happiness has to be through him.
Youngwiseman1 2 days ago
@Youngwiseman1 What is it that I seemingly don't know about god?
"Did you know that not every person who says their a christian is? Those people who say they are are known as luke-warm christians. Their the ones who are self-centered..."
In my experience, the "most religious" people are the most self-absorbed, e.g. the Pope. The act of praying, too, is egoistical. Although one is praying for other people, it is the one who is praying who feels better afterwards. No one else.
Pomme843 2 days ago
@Pomme843 Also, youngwiseman1, I think your assertion that "lukewarm Christians" are the ones who are self-centered, is an implicit No True Scotsman fallacy. You seem to imply that Christians are non-self-centered by definition - an implication that is deemed as cheating, as in said type of fallacy.
I think it's a bad idea to take pleasure in the world by taking people's money and behaving like a narcisistic psycho. Alos, how do you know what god has said, or even that he exists?

This "truth" video polarizes people more than anything. If you believe, you'll believe more. If you don't believe, you'll be annoyed and pulled farther away because this is just religious propaganda. This video contains no evidence that miraculously reveals an astounding revelation proving God exists. It just pounds already believed ideas, into the minds of the believers even more. Anyone who watches, expecting to be lured, if they don't believe, will be turned off.

This video is far from biased.
dlaumbach1 1 year ago
@dlaumbach1 Of course they are forced...you act like children have some sort of choice when they are little. You act as if they have the capacity to comprehend the actuual truth about scienece.
I feel sorry for you that you think the world has nothing to offer...that is a sad way to live.
Trenaur 1 year ago
@Trenaur I was a child raised in a christain home and I never felt forced to go to church or to believe anything. I accept Jesus as my Savior when I was 7 yrs old and now at 28 yrs old I still proclaim my strong belifes in Jesus. I take my 2 children to church so they can have the hope of Jesus in their lives and they love it!!! My oldest son ask everyday mommy can we go to church today, I want to go to church mommy. You make assumtions and speak of things that are not true for all.
dlaumbach1 1 year ago
@dlaumbach1 Your sentence "I accepted Jesus as my savior at 7 years old" immediately proves my point. You, at 7 years old, have not had the life experiences to not only understand or comprehend the real science behind life but you also have not even fully heard about the veritable smorgasbord of other religions out there. So yes, you we're duped just like every other child of religious parents and as you are doing to your children right now. You cannot seriously deny it.
Trenaur 1 year ago
@Trenaur As I stated I know about evolution, duh! they teach it in school and it is FALSE! All children are led by and tought by their parents! That's why parents are called parents because parents are in authority over their children raising them to know right from wrong! truth from a lie! how to read! how to dress themselves! what's healthy and whats not! Does it look like a baby is born and can take care of its self and think for its self immediately no! seriously you speak ignorantly!!!
dlaumbach1 1 year ago
@dlaumbach1 Yeah so this paragraph pretty much had no substance. What I said before still stands. You demonstrated no knowledge of Evolution other than "IT"S FALSE!". If that is your measure of a counter point then there is no point in talking further about it with you. You and your ignorance of science will blissfully believe whatever you want to believe. But rest assured your TRUTH is not reality.
Trenaur 1 year ago
@Trenaur also I gave and quoted a bible verse as to why evolution is FALSE! it stated in that bible verse I gave in 1 John 4. Evolution is a worldly view from man who wants to refuse to believe in creation. Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. You want to say creationism is false yet you have not prove to me it is false. Have you ever read the bible? what makes you think it is wrong? Because you might not like what it has to say, cause it gives teaches morals?
dlaumbach1 1 year ago
@dlaumbach1 If you believe everything in the bible is true than it is likely true that your "morals" are reprehensible at best and lawless at worst. If you think the bible is a true source of morals then you either A: have not read it fully (I have because I actually study the arguements on both sides very much, not just "learn about it in school" as you have) or B: are a terrible person. Creationism is false because that notion supposes a god whisped life into being. Doesn't happen my friend
Trenaur 1 year ago
@Trenaur you have not told me anything about evolution. And I don't impress anything onto my children. While they are young yes I teach them what I believe as far as I know that's not a crime? Once they are older they can deside for thereselves what they believe and I will love them and pray for them the same then as I do know. Also just because you have studied the agruements on both sides does not mean you know anything!
dlaumbach1 1 year ago
@Trenaur yes I did say I was 7 yrs old, you don't have to have life experiance to know Jesus as Savior you just have to believe what God says about Jesus that He sent His one and only Son Jesus to die for our sins. and I also said I am 28 yrs old now and I have had 28 yrs world of life experiances and my belife has not changed, that should tell you something about how Great and Mighty God is, that after all these years I still believe in Jesus!
dlaumbach1 1 year ago
@dlaumbach1 Uhh...you being 28 years old still beliving what you were taught at 7 years old is proof of brain washing. Not proof of the divine. lol
Trenaur 1 year ago
@Trenaur do you think my parents still tell me what to do and think??? Well I assure you they do not! I am a adult and have been for awhile. Your reply is just proof that you do not understand the Holy Bible nor have you taken the time to learn about it or understand God created all things! :) 1 John 4:1- Dear Friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see weather they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
dlaumbach1 1 year ago
@dlaumbach1 Do they tell you what to do? Well who knows...I don't know you personally other than your misguided ramblings here. But you are proving that your parent provided childhood brain washing worked on you...so yes in a sense they are still telling you what to do.
I am sure your children are going through the same thing too right now. I feel bad for them that they are always being swayed on an arugement of far rgeater magnitude than their minds can handle right now.
Trenaur 1 year ago
@Trenaur This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowlege Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have herd is coming and even now is already in the world.
To say that I believe because I was raised that way is false because if you raised your children to believe only evolution then you are doing the same and therefore are a hypocrite.
dlaumbach1 1 year ago
@dlaumbach1 This reply makes absolutely no sense at all.
Trenaur 1 year ago
@Trenaur well my question to you then is who brain washed you into believeing evolution? I am not brained washed but thanks hahah.... your funny! I ask do you personally have children of your own? I know there is little point in talking to you because you are close minded and blind. There is absoulte truth! you do not believe there is truth verses a lie? Do you not believe in God because you cannot see Him? why should I teach my children evolution, that man was an ape and evolved into man?
dlaumbach1 1 year ago
@dlaumbach1 No one did. When I was old enough to understand the concepts being discussed between the bible and other faith based claims of life vs. actual science...the choice becomes clear which is rationale and which is just fairy tale. Yes I have kids and they will decide for themselves when they are older what world view they choose to follow. I am not impressing my beliefs upon them as you are with your kids.
Trenaur 1 year ago
@Trenaur Well I feel for you and your kids. I show my kids love and give them hope beyond understanding. You can stand in judgement of me all you want but you speak of things you do not know about my life. You asume you know it all and are prideful with a big ego. If you studies both creationism and evolution, then how come you have nothing to state about evolution to me? I gave you proof in the Bible, which you don't like but I still showed you why I believe what I believe.
dlaumbach1 1 year ago
@dlaumbach1 I love how you assume I don't show my kids love...lol. Again, go fully read the bible...it ain't all about love baby...I promise you. I don't have an ego...I just am not brainwashed to believe what amounts to nonsensical bullshit. But hey, more power to ya...I hope for your kids sake that they won't fall into the brainwash trap as you have.
Trenaur 1 year ago
@Trenaur just because you said you have read the Bible does not mean you understand the interpitation of the Bible that's why their are pastors who go to seminary so they can correctly teach the Bible. I did not say that you don't love your kids, although you act as though I don't love my kids because I let them go to church with me and hear what my beliefs are. If you truly believe in evolution I find it hard to believe that you have not talked to your kids about it.
dlaumbach1 1 year ago
@dlaumbach1 Talking about beliefs is difficult I think for alot of people because it personal you know it part of who we are what we stand for etc. I understand reasons why you might feel evolution is true because its got since behind it and as you say. I don't believe since is the end all be all just as you feel creationism is a fairy tale according to your opinion. I am sorry if I offended you that's not what I wanted to do.

@Trenaur I assure you I am not flawless or perfect nor do I try to be.

I am skeptical of any "project" that claims to be able to bring Christians back to God. For one thing, anyone who trusts in Christ should be being guided by the Holy Spirit to the truth, even if they are caught up in sins and worldly lies and deception. If the Holy Spirit is not sufficient to keep people grounded in truth, I doubt very seriously that any man or group of men, no matter how educated or wise will be able to accomplish this. The3 best lie is the one that is mostly true, beware...
apologeticsman 1 year ago
The so-called "Truth Project" has been very disappointing and frustrating. Dr. Tackett consistently presents a particular strain of Protestant Fundamentalism as representing the totality of Christian belief, and this is 100% not true!! He is not presenting historical Christianity, and he creates many false dichotomies. For example, you can believe the theory of evolution and be a Christian!! Describing God's work through the theory of evolution does not disprove God or diminish His Glory!

@ethios4 - Whatever loser. You're not a Christian. You might say you are... but you're not really. Pity.

@MrBlackBrit - Logic, reason and evidence are far better weapons in the war for Truth than name calling and slander.
ethios4 1 year ago
In watching more of the series (my first reaction was rather premature), there is much that is commendable, such as challenging believers to actually live their lives in accordance with their beliefs, rather than mere intellectual assent to philosophical propositions. There is also much to disagree with as Dr. Tackett seems to have blinders on to any Christian perspective other than his own. Proof-texting abounds.
ethios4 1 year ago
@ethios4 You cannot be a christian and believe in evolution.... they oppose each other. cause evolution, if true would take away the power of jesus' death... it is hard to explain, but my pastor explained it well
wahoooification 1 year ago
@wahoooification - I appreciate your opinion, however I disagree. I've heard similar arguments as you mention and I find them to be speculative, based on fallible human interpretation. I believe in the inerrancy of Scripture but not human interpretation. The science is utterly convincing to me, so I conclude there must be a way to harmonize the two. Either way, we can't know for sure, it is not a crucial issue to salvation faith, and thus a unnecessary stumbling block. My opinion.
ethios4 1 year ago
@ethios4 - Also, I'd like to say I've watched all of the Truth Project now, and it just gets better and better with each Lesson. I was kinda on the fence at first, and there is still some I disagree with, mostly on how much focus is put on anti-evolution, but overall it is AWESOME and well worth watching.
ethios4 1 year ago
@ethios4 Believing evolution is dismissing the whole account of Genesis, thus contradicting the Bible which is by definition of God's word. Therefore you cannot believe evolution and say on the other your are christian: you either believe one or the other. I lively suggest you look into creationism if you truly are a disciple of Jesus.
OblivionPicturesCF 1 year ago
@OblivionPicturesCF - That is an overly simplistic view that does not shows respect to those of us who are very familiar with the science behind evolution and modern cosmology, and therefore have a very difficult time reconciling that knowledge with the creation story in Genesis. It is not a matter of doubting God's power or role as Creator, it is wrestling with the massive amount of evidence and logic that points to evolution and the big bang.
ethios4 1 year ago
@OblivionPicturesCF - I have looked into creationism (and continue to), particularly through Answers in Genesis. Some of it has truly caused me to question the certainty of evolution theory and the assumptions of science, but I am nowhere near convinced because no one has presented a comprehensive and cohesive scientific model of origins from a creationist viewpoint (something I would greatly welcome). At this point I suspend judgment on the issue because....I wasn't there.
ethios4 1 year ago
@OblivionPicturesCF - Also, it's not just a matter of Genesis. This also ties into the Flood, and the fact that Jesus Himself seems to have taken the Genesis account of creation literally. However, Jesus's primary mission was not to correct prevailing social and scientific misunderstandings of the day. For example, He had the opportunity to speak out against slavery and did not. That was not His purpose in coming.
ethios4 1 year ago
@OblivionPicturesCF - However, I do believe a literal interpretation of Genesis makes more sense Biblically than the workarounds to fit evolution into the Bible.
Question: Do you take Jesus at His word when he says it is better to cut out the sinful eye than to persist in sin? How about when he says to also offer your cloak to the one who would sue you? Or do you 'spiritualize' and allegorize these sayings? Do you take the Bible literally when it suits you but allegorize when it does not?
ethios4 1 year ago
@ethios4 One: I've looked in the science on both sides and from a neutral point of view, both theories should be considered (although being a christian I firmly believe the Genesis account) Considering the little space of comment I have, I did not elaborate (continued)
OblivionPicturesCF 1 year ago
@OblivionPicturesCF Two: So your logic is if we take one part of the Bible litteraly, no matter what the context, the situation, the structure of the rest of the Bible, everything should be taken litterally, word for word (good luck with Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy... and that'sust some examples). That is poor and illogical reasoning . Different people, from different backgrounds were used by God to write scripture meaning the styles of writting will differ greatly from book to book but
OblivionPicturesCF 1 year ago
@OblivionPicturesCF the main focus and purpose do not change. It is important to understand why the Bible was put together the way it was, who wrote the different books and their background and most importantly to whom they were writting it (I don't believe they knew about our culture way back then....). This is why I will not answer your question since it has taken scripture out of context and rephrased it.
OblivionPicturesCF 1 year ago
@OblivionPicturesCF - I agree with you about context, that's why I asked the question I did. The same arguments can be applied to Genesis - that its historical/social context is that it is a theological explanation of origins, not a scientific one, coming from a particular place and time in the near east. The Bible is infallible, human interpretation is not.
ethios4 1 year ago
@ethios4 Actually Genesis is not a theological explanation fo origins considering the ammount of detail it provides, namely considering the Flood. I have just studied this about two weeks ago and it's amazing all the little details we miss when we don't pay close attention to the text (Answers in genesis has some pretty good materiel on that but also Dr Whitcomb). It was not written for 21st century minds which is why it seems kind of fairy-talish for us but that's not the case. (continued)
OblivionPicturesCF 1 year ago
@OblivionPicturesCF Genesis was originally written for the Israelites in the wilderness who had just come out of Egypt and at that time they did not use the scientific terms, language, culture we use today. Moreover if this was a theological interpretation of origins, I don't think the author would have gone to the extent of giving the exact measurements of the Ark, the genealogies, explained Babel, ect... and througout the book you find that God already has a plan in motin to save mankind.
OblivionPicturesCF 1 year ago
@OblivionPicturesCF - My mind is far from made up on this issue; I continue to study it particularly from the creationist angle, since I know much less about that. Honestly I hope to one day be able to embrace a literal reading of Genesis without intellectual conflict. Thank you for your thoughts on this.

@iteyfc - WOW! You are a complete fool. Seriously, mate. A complete fool. You haven't a clue to the truth as your mind is one screwed up mess.
MrBlackBrit 1 year ago
@iteyfc - Yes, and this is one of my biggest criticisms of the TP. I think the Eastern Orthodox attitude is better, which is that the issue of the theory of evolution is private theological opinion, and not a critical aspect of the faith. To me the evidence for evolution is overwhelming, and I have no problem reconciling that with my belief in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have no need for a "God of the Gaps", as God is the author of all things. People needn't choose between faith and reason.
ethios4 1 year ago
@ethios4
It has been shown to be more complex than any computer program.
rubbersole79 1 year ago
@rubbersole79 - Personally I think along the lines that God has guided the development of the universe and life within according to His plan, that He used evolution to accomplish His plan; or the He setup the initial conditions of the universe such that it would develop in the way that it has. This is in accord with my experience of life, where miraculous events occur that are reasonable and yet utterly improbable.

herald1509 1 year ago
@herald1509 ahhhh i see. well perhaps i should have chose my words more carefully. it seems highly unlikely and almost implausable that the god of the bible does in fact exist. not an absolute statement of non existence, it just seems unlikely.
hellogreenbear122 1 year ago
@hellogreenbear122 'Unlikely' based on what?
herald1509 1 year ago
@herald1509 well this gods word is at odds with what we know about the origin of man, other species aside from man, and of the universe. so this partiuclar god seems unlikely and "untruthful" since inaccuracies can be proven in his word. i take it your some form of believer ?
hellogreenbear122 1 year ago
@hellogreenbear122 Everyone is some form of believer in something. There are linguistic inaccuracies in your typing. Does that make you untruthful? Does it make everything you say inaccurate? But for Genesis 1, you might want to consider the place that genre plays. Check out 'framework interpretation'.
herald1509 1 year ago
@hellogreenbear122 Yeah I find that if you look at it the right way, the Bible says nothing to go against "what we know about the origin of man" etc. I think the Creation story/poem is true, but not completely literal.
georgefrankleroy 1 year ago
@hellogreenbear122 - I'm not here to argue with you on this, but I would like to point to your post as demonstrating exactly the position that literalist-creationist rhetoric puts people in. I, for one, am sorry that such an unnecessary false dilemma has been foisted on you.

THE MOST FUNDAMENTAL QUESTION OF ALL:
.
What is the underlying law of nature.
.
