  • Brilliant. Your enitre 83&84 series is a wonderful documentation of an extraordinary artist who is tremendously underappreciated. ... Too many long words, I know. I'll just say WOW! ... And, thank you.

  • Augustus, answer me! Will you drink my coffee!?

  • Cale makes angry cool like no other, He is the Travis Bickle on piano.

Anyone heard of when he decapitaded a live chicken during a performance and some members of his band quit in disgust?

Now thats a five star vid i'd love to see.

  • >SIMPFANN

    >"This song was written by a good friend of mine"?

    >I thought Cale and Reed hate each other.

Reed is Cale's good friend just as heroin can be your good friend... ;-)

  • I wouldn't know. I've never done heroin. Only heard the song ;)

  • fucking intense man

  • Thanks for the yummy posting

  • I love the Velvets, but I've always felt that Cale's piano versions captured this song better than the original.

  • "This song was written by a good friend of mine"? I thought Cale and Reed hate each other.

  • Excellent . . . like all yr postings, man! Reminds me of Cales' Sydney performances!

  • State theatre 1983?

  • No . . . I caught him (with my wife, who wasn't a Cale fan - until then!) at the Enmore Theatre. Many years before that, he played a packed gig at a smallish venue in George Street; it's name escapes me right now. Just Cale and the piano. Brilliant!

  • I have an old cassette bootlegged off jjj, (or was it jj back then?) from the early eighties, just him and his piano (guitar occasionally). coming off his angry late 70s punk, touring on 'Honi Soit'. i think some of the audience were expecting an electric "band' experience and are a bit dismayed but even so. it is a phenom performance. Fear, Waiting for the man, streets of laredo. looking 4ward to seein him next week at the Enmore...Again!

  • yeah .. . know what you mean! I thought the 'raw' Cale was awesomely powerful - cutting to the core of issues! Enjoy the concert, man!

  • I really like the '84 version (starts at 4:12).

  • Cale is a genius

  • One of the few covers of WFTM, even by Velvets alumni, that keeps the 8 beats to the bar drumbeat Moe immortalized. :)
