  • I took mine at 6 weeks and he cried for another 3 weeks solid! If you are really awesome with animals you can try it. 8 weeks is better.

I bought mine at 6 weeks when I was in high school it was a summer litter. I literally rocked mine on my chest for hours a day and he slept on my chest in a lazy boy till he could go all night without crying.

We were so close we were like brothers...I was Daniel Boone and he was my side kick.

  • @cchanderson I have a new litter after not having puppies for over 3 years. I have 1 female that I am keeping, so she's already getting spoiled. I have 3 males. 1 will be dark ticked, and the other 2 will be more white like their Grandmother, who is the Mom of the litter on the video.

  • @gsps3 We call the "dark ticked" ones Liver in the real world of GSP's.

  • Any time after 7 weeks is fine. Even though they are eating solid food, my start at about 3 weeks, they still need the Mom and littermates to learn proper behavior. Hopefully they weren't kennel dogs and had a lot of exposure with people and birds if it will be used for hunting. I will be having a litter in about 5 days. It's been 3 years since my last litter.

  • Im looking into buying a GSP. They are only 6 1/2 weeks old. Am I just looking for trouble getting them this young? Owner says they are weaned, eating solid food and partially potty trained.

  • I love my GSP! all 3 and my GPS had a litter and had 9 boys and 1 girl and they were born on August 6,2008

  • We sadly lost our 9 year old GSP this year to cancer and we miss him soo much he was a great working dog for my husband but most of all our best friend he was a great big softy, these are the most loyal and obedient dogs and so loving,we are getting a new GSP pup in 2 weeks time and i cant wait to bring him home so another 2 years training but well worth it, your pups look so cute i hope they bring as much joy and love to whoever buys them as our boy did, thanks for the video its great x

  • I just got a GSP and an ESP mix and his name is Winchester and he is sooooo cute, he is about 10 weeks and already will retrieve for me:)

  • @PurpleSharpiexoxo Keep working on the training and retrieving and you will have a great dog. The early training is very important and make sure you use positive rewards and encouragement. Good luck.

  • I am now on my second GSP and I wont own a different kind of dog myself. My wife on the other hand needs to have these little yap-yap ankle biters around that serve as her guard dogs. I wish I had more room so I could breed mine or find someone he could breed to, but everyone want a registered dog. Mine has the best nose and stamina of any "professional" and I cant find any takers.

  • i loved my pointer so much and he almost got to 15 years old

  • Do they llhave their "spots at birth or later? thanks

  • They only have the dark brown when they are born, the rest is white. The ticking (spots), come in as they grow.

  • i really love these dogs but i have trouble finding close breeders. know of anyone close to chattanooga tn?

  • so cute i remember my dog when she was that small :)

  • I had one once. really miss that dog. he was so damn hyper

  • It seems that everyone who has one, or has ever had one, loves these dogs. Mine are lucky because we go to the dog park every day, so they run for about an hour. If they don't get the exercise, they can drive you crazy.

  • My gsp is 14 and still very healthy and active! gsp's are great companions, sweet and loyal! Best dog I have ever had!

  • A friend of mine had one that lived to over 17 years old. i hope mine make it that long.

  • I hope mine does too. I cant even imagine being without him!

  • we have a gsp xD cutest breed in the woorrlldd

  • I have a female about 14-15 yrs old and she is the best!

  • aww i love german wirehaired pointers,i remember when mine was a puppy.haha now shes a big monster.

  • Do they shed a TON of fur?.. Just wondering.

  • i have one. my house and truck have little hairs everywhere

  • @phantasymystshu

They shed a bit, but not much.

  • pointers boy

  • where r u guys located?

  • We're about 30 miles SW of Chicago, Il.

  • thx for this video. I was wondering, if i want 2 dogs, should they be the same age or should 1 be let's say 5 years older? I've always been a dog lover, and now i'm defiantely going to get a GSP. But we have the land for 2 dogs, just wondering yur suggestions on the breed of a second dog, and the age difference that you'd recommend?

  • thier so cute

  • Cute dogs and thats very true what u wrote about them. My long haired pointer is so active, she likes to run, I go hunting with her every week-end. German pointers are one of the best hunting dogs.

  • are they for sale?? im looking to buy some...

  • This was the litter from last year. Star had her last litter on August 5th, but those are all gone. I will breed her daughter next Spring when she will be 4, so we should have a litter next summer. Let me know if you need help looking for one sooner.

  • i have a german short hair. her name is hex and shes just about 4 years old

  • What a beautiful bunch ! I have sadly just lost my lovely boy Harry, he was 12.5 years old. I miss him dearly x

  • I saw your video. He looked like such a happy, wonderful dog. My oldest is also 12,she still hunts, but her back leg is bothering her. I have a new litter, but probably won't keep one this year.

  • Sorry to hear about your 12 year old gsp. I am not sure of the problem with her back leg, but my Harry had great trouble with his back legs and I used to put a special boot on him which helped him for about 6 months to continue with his walks. If I can help you in any way please let me know x

How exciting to have a new litter ! :O) so sweet!

  • My GSP is always sleeping! They are very cute dogs

  • My mixed breed dog was housebroken when we got her at 8 weeks old. She never went in the house, except for a few times when we let her in rooms she wasn't usually allowed in. The one named Gus reminds me of my uncle's German shorthaired pointer named Gus. What a great dog! He lived to be 18.

  • We have a new litter that is 5 weeks old. The owners of Gus are getting another puppy from this litter. I will get some new videos out.

  • if you are someone who lives in an appartment is it sonvenient to have one of these

  • German Short hairs like to run, they need lots of exercise, I got 2 of them and I love them, they make such good pets and they are smart and lovable...

  • i have a german shorthaiir;

    hess beautiful

    ;xo

  • SO cute i have a german shortharied pointer there so cute while babies but they can be very messy trouble making dogs when no one's watching :)

  • aww i have a german shorthaired pointer too, theyre sooo cute. i have a 6 year old and he's my best friend. <333

  • aw i have a german short hair =]

  • i just got a gsp last week and he is so funny! HE IS ALWAYS CRACKING ME UP.hes prety good with going to the bathroom outside. if you take him outside he will go but he doesnt know ow to hold it yet ntill he goes outside. your puppies ae big well they look big for their age! but they are beautiful puppies!

  • My GSP is wicked hyper, she never stops wining.....I know that it is in their breed but sometime I wish she would just shut up, it gets so annoying, but I love her

  • How old is she? My 3 year old lays around all day with the older ones after they run for about 20 minutes in the morning and about 20 minutes in the evening. They do "talk" to you and expect you to understand them. We should have a new litter at the end of July, so I think I'll keep another one.

  • wow.. how much are they... i miss my old GSP D:

  • I got the exact same problem. My GSP NEVER gets tired, she keeps on going. She also needs a lot of attention, wants to run outside all the time.

But it is like you said, you just gotta love 'em.

  • I had a GSP named Holly, I loved her sooooo much she passed away at the age og 16in a half. after seeing that I want to get a nuther one

  • i'm getting a gsp next year, are they good family dogs yeah? aren't they stunning?? does anybody know of gsp breeders in scotland? that would be great if you could give me details.

  • Nice video, I've added it to our forum

  • GSP3 I have emailed you for advice on a neighbors GSP who is neglected. Please help if you can. Thanks for sharing your video & responsible caring of these beauties.

  • They are the best dogs ever.I have a 1 year old couldn't imagine life without him

  • Nice, informative video. I have a male GSP (3 years) and a female (6)...she also taught him a lot - I agree with having more than one GSP, if possible - they are great at playing and relaxing together. These are not a breed to be 'abandoned' all day without stimulation! They are loving, like company, need lots of good exercise (just point them at a wood or open field and they'll work out the details for themselves!). GSPs are just the best of all dogs (and I love all dogs).

  • They are so cute, I have a 4 year old gsp and I wouldn't trade her for the world.

  • I am looking at buy a gsp pup within the next year. Where are you from? You seem like a good breeder.

  • My gsp is 10 years old... he's such an awsome dog i sugjest a gsp to anyone

  • My oldest is almost 11, and I have 1 beautiful male puppy left from this litter.

  • Wow! They live that long! I have a GSP puppy too ^_^ Great video!

  • A friend just lost his which was 3 months away from 17.

  • They are the best dogs. I have 3 and would love to keep one of these puppies,( they are so smart), but since they live so long 15-16 years, I would end up with 8 if I kept one every 2 years. It's always better to have at least 2.

  • aw, i love gsp's. nice vid!
