  • flags should be banned at glastonbury

  • Joy Division-slash-New Order are w/o question one of rock's most undeservedly underrated artists. We will never fully grasp the extent of their influence. & this only cements their true greatness. While unfortunately eclipsed by much of today's tosh often labeled as 'music,' where everything sounds like nothing (meaning everything sounds exactly like something else), I take great comfort in knowing JD-slash-NO really did change the world. Even if the Beatles do get 'all' the credit.

  • I wish they were still together so that when they played this or any JD song, Sam Riley from the film "Control" could sing lead . . .

  • mr. sumner is part of warsaw joy division new order electronic bad lieutenant and has nothing to be ashamed of nor embarrassed about.

  • This nearly made me cry.

  • DANCE TO THE FUCKING RADIO!!!!!!!

  • @tanksvz1128 - why even say that then?? we all know it was ians song, i think bernard knows that better than you or anyone. JD fans still wanna hear the original band play JD tracks...what do you want them to do, play the tune with no vocals?... get real wont you........

  • Tranmission 2 = great backing music but let down by just awful vox! shame.

  • watch( tranmission 2 cover anamnesi ) the voice is perfect

  • @dr10381 Okay listened to it, honest opinion? great music sound's like Joy Division BUT the vocal's are terrible! sound NOTHING like Ian Curtis! i sound more like Ian than that guy! music=9 vocal's=1

  • @jameyinegypt

he never wanted to sing like Ian, I think it makes more sense to sing his own way, rather than trying to sound like Ian, more honest.

  • A nice little tribute

  • Love you Barney, but there was a reason Ian was the singer.

  • Ian was more real, epylepsy dance was showing of his feelings

  • Epic!

  • NEW ORDER = EXCELLENCE!!

  • new order are fucking excellent

lost count of how many times i have seen them . this is just respect for the departed ....

  • 'SALFORD RULES'

  • good instrumental, but I miss soooo much ian's voice

  • think the reason they dont have the same presence of joy division is because they arent joy division. joy division ended when ian curtis died. new order is totally removed from joy division as much as paul mcartneys band wernt the beatles so how could they possibly have the same presence. great song brilliantly done.

  • I know Barney''s vocals aren't as chilling as Ian's, but I think this is a nice tribute and Barney is a great singer in his own way.

  • the actot sam riley did at pretty fuckin good job by singing and acting like he was ian, so i think that they should hire him for a show or something! r.i.p ian

  • I agree with lower down that Ian did pour his heart out when he sang this, but Barny isent Ian.

P.S. bye the way yes i did see Ian and Joy Division many times, in those halcion days.

  • In April 1980 I was a broke Uni student in the states, but I knew of the JD shows planned in New York and New Jersey.

I planned to hitch a ride and see them...

So, I watch the YT SE video and marvel...

  • no.... why!!! wtf is this shit!!!!

    RIP Ian :(

  • Nothing without Ian,

    But still a good performance.

    Rest in Peace Ian.

  • you've seen ian have you?!

    didnt think so

  • Your comment had no relevance on mine.

I was simply saying that New order don't have the same presence that Joy division had. And Bernards voice is no way near as powerful as Ians, therefore making the performance lack in certain area's. So please keep your pointless comments to yourself. thankyou.

  • and i was simply implying that you are comparing new order(now in their 50's or whatever) to ian who was in his 20's. you dont know how good ian would be now?! im sorry but i refuse to accept that these guys are nothing without ian. songs like crystal, bright light on the horizon, waiting for the sirens call etc are songs that prove new order has maintained a reputation of creating great songs throughout the ages, separating themselves from a 'popular because they used to be joy division' label

  • Sounds great. Bernard's "Yeah!"'s and going through the motions singing in the climactic chorus lessen the impact somewhat, but the band sounded too good to bother. Too bad about the weak volume of the vid.

  • i can just imagine ian juimping around on that stage while the crowd go fuckin mental, damn i miss him

  • With Bernard singing this song just lacks everything. The difference between the JD version and the NO version is that Ian actual meant what he was singing. He poured his heart onstage everytime he sang this song. Bernard just lacks the passion needed vocally for every JD song. RIP Ian

  • Well stated.

  • @tanksz1128 Perhaps, however I think you're being a purist for the sake of it. These guys didn't listen to these songs in their bedroom, they LIVED every second of them and they were the walking wounded of the emotional war the took Curtis' life. They could have cashed in 30 years ago and lunched off the trade in suicide memorabilia for life, instead the remade themselves. Some of us appreciate the powerful emotion of these songs being played again. Stop being such a musso arse, OK?

  • @tanksz1128

I totally agree with your coments,,,,,

  • @tanksz1128 well at least he gave it a shot

  • @tanksz1128 - How do you know Ian Curtis poured his heart out singing this song everytime ? Stop daydreaming about dead rockstars. I'm sick of Ian Curtis sycophants who believe he's some sort of mesiah ! He wasn't, he was a good lyricist, an average singer in a extraordinary, original band. Bernard is not a good singer, I agree, but he's New Order's singer and if they want to play their songs they should be able to without wining twats like you moaning about Ian Curtis not being around.

  • Music wise it's fantastic but vocally it just lacks that mourneful sound Ian produced.

  • sounds fantastic

  • I want Freddy to come back

  • its not the same with out ian and his dancing

  • great track and great to see them play it n that, but sometimes i find sumners vocals embarrasing, never seems to put any real effort in, all the same i'm dissappointed to hear that new order are no more.

  • FUCK IAN....IMAGINE HE WAS THERE SINGING<333333

    DANCE DANCE...

    we miss you

  • Rip Ian

  • Wow, entirely untouched.

  • Joy Division forever!!!

  • i was there!!! very memorable to say the least, thanks for the upload been searching for glasto footage of No for ages

  • smile on my face, tears in my eyes. great days ! thanks for posting - wish i had been there.

  • What the fuck are you drum "aficianados" going on about? The hi hat is all present and correct, and the tempo is the same.Shut the fuck up and get back to the shite music you was brought up on.

  • Yeah... i agree, what's more, Barney's playing as well. Sure, no one's going to sing it as well as IC did, but the everything else is spot on. Steve Morris is legendary on the drums in the original and remains so.

  • speed up morris!!^^ man they are old, they should do new things, not play these fucking great song in such a boring speed, etc.

    wheres the magic??!

  • Sounds pretty much like the same speed to me. I think you should listen to the Joy Division song and then give your opinion.

  • the magics there - your head is so far up your ass you can't hear it

  • Stephen is my dad.

  • Re: drum nerdery: Steve's playing the song exactly how it was played live in the JD days, including the fill after "Dance, dance, dance..." I was a bit "worse for wear" when they played this and even though it's inevitably a bit ragged, it sent chills up the old spine...

  • Poor owd steve - he's playin his heart out on those drums!!

  • The original drumming is just stunning. So fast for so long on the hi-hat. Catch the video here. Unreal. On fire.

  • great track only missing the obvious original vocals.

  • I agree. Ian Curtis added something special and unique.

  • FFS u div

  • stephen morris is still super human.

  • I must agree with leeraconteur, without the added hi hat part on the drums the song looses some of its life. But on another level the song should not be compared to the original as the guys are older than they used to be, they went thru the acid house years and it lacks the lower tones that bernard cant produce.

  • u total spaz. its a treat a privilige to hear live.

  • This piece of crap isn't that hard to play! It's not like we are talking about majorly talented musicians here. "Hooky" couldn't and still can't play the bass! It's pretty criminal how he has got away with it for this long.

    They are pretty bad!

  • wtf?

  • gfgdafdf - go and stick your ignorant "muso" attitude up your arse. Good music has never been about how technically difficult it is to play or how talented the musicians are ...something you clearly cannot grasp.

  • Who is he to criticise anyone's dexterity when he count't be bothered to type a coherent user name for himself anyway?

  • But hard to write, though. Who, in your esteemed opinion, CAN play the bass? You, probably lol Hooky's a god and so are Barney and Steve.

  • dude!?! He is one of my bass hero's. I love him and his style. I cant stand the sound of GIT grads. Its a particular self learned style that you either get or you dont.

  • Steven can't play the original drum part anymore, but he is 25 years on. Always thought that drum part with the hi-hat all the way through was superhuman.

  • He can play it, but New Order play with pretty much an electric drum kit, nowadays.

  • I was there! was ultra pissed off that they didn't play blue monday tho :( i remember the 50,000 strong anti-climax lol!!
