DDT was banned because it makes birds' eggshells thinner and lowers their reproductive rate, not because of it's toxicity to humans.

My grandfather was dusted with the stuff several times, and he lived to 91.

People didn't know the danger of DDT in those days. When I was in the Navy in the 60's the cure for crabs for sailors was a paper bag with some DDT powder which you were instructed to use for several days. It worked, of course. When I was a kid in school, an art instructor gave us asbestos powder to make sculptures with... mixed with water it makes a great paste that dries hard. No one knew the dangers then so it's hard to blame them.

"Depleted"uranium is uranium with a lower content of U-235 than natural uranium (natural uranium is about 99.27% uranium-238 (U-238), 0.72% U-235, and 0.0055% U-234). Uses of DU take advantage of its very high density of 19.1 g/cm3 (68.4% denser than lead), hence the use as penetrating weapons. Go back to school, moron.
