The lightning in front of the house is actually an illusion. The lightning didn't come that close to you or you would've heard the thunder in the same instant. That's actually caused from 2 frames blended either in-camera or in the editor when slowed down. If you watch the footage, the camera's pretty shaky, so the moment it struck, you were tilting the camera downward, moving the house up in the frame. When this happened, a house frame and lightning frame were blended.
Ha Ha. God missed! got to love it. He missed me one day. I saw the grass sparkle all over like small static on a hair comb, then everything went white, and then afterward BOOM! I don know how far away he missed, but I guess a few inches, every hair stood up. And I went blind briefly!
oh makes a pretty shot tho........glad ur ok tho^^ i should invest in a video camera o,o lighting around my apts gets nice sometimes only problem is the apt buildings and trees block the view sometimes -.-
Uh.. three tornadoes have directly struck Springfield in the past few years. None of them were particularly large or strong, but they all did some damage.
A large one did hit 15 or 20 years ago... and several powerful ones have come close to Springfield. The tornado which destroyed Pierce City, MO tracked directly toward Springfield for 45 minutes, finally stopped just a few miles outside of town.
me and my dad were driving through willard when this happend, we couldn't see anything cuz it was dark but it flipped a semi truck over that was in front of us on the highway
I am a video editor with degrees in electronic media production. I'm sorry to say that your lightning bolt is an _EXACT_ copy of the one directly above it from a frame BEFORE. (Much like watching a fire spinner on video) If you look at the top of the bolt, you can see that it follows the _EXACT_ pattern as the bolt below it. The thunder sound would have also been instantaneous and not follow afterward like it did. All in all, your video was still cool though!
Omg, i live in Willard and Im like wtf is happening? And Im like, Its the beggining of January and were having one of the worst tornadoes and I was like, global warming duh. but yea that night scared the hell outa me.
oh man, yea, thats WAY to close for me. kind of reminds me of my frineds house when lightning busted a windo of his, man, glad i wasnt over there..lol, still, your lucky.
THANKS! on the video I saved on the actual memory card..you can see the lightning striking. when I downloaded the video it kinda skipped that part for some reason..probably because my computer likes to run slow sometimes or freeze up if I have too much stuff running. Thank you for the comment and good luck on your future chasing. I hope this tornado outbreak we had recently is not a precurser to what it is to come during peak season? Be safe take care!!
nice catch, this is actualy a reflection on your camera lens, because your camera (like any other camera) is too slow to pic up the lightning bolt. this is the reason why you did not see it in real, because it did not strike that close.
2001-SRN in attack......scary?

If the lightning was close, you would have heard deafening thunder almost the same time as you saw the lightning strike. Good video though.

As we say in the Ozarks, unless the funnel's on the ground and you can see it, don't worry about it.
