GT1 marked the start of a great franchise called the "REAL DRIVING SIMULATOR" in GT2, we got a much better game, GT3, didn't like it that much, always the same thing, GT4, my favourite untill now, GT5 was a massive revolution in racing games, and we still can't forget Gran Turismo Concept, it was like a bonus on gran turismo 3 (bought apart) if you completed a certain challenge you could transfer 10million to GT3

@kabalx9 how the hell can you say that? I recently decided to do a new career in gt2, haven't played it in years. There's not a single way the GT2 is better than gt5. Things have got so much better in every way. If you like GT2 better you like it for the wrong reasons. GT5 has everything gt2 except it does it better, either you're a freak or you're not a gran turismo fan

@thnk4urself I am a definite Gran Turismo fan, I do not think GT5 is the best of the series, because it brought promises, and disappointed too many of us, who play since the first day with GT1. I will not list the gripes, you probably know them. The best imo is GT2, because 650 cars, 20+ tracks, all realistic for a PS1 game. GT2 actually delivers FUN and a sense of SPEED... since GT4 and GT5 the game felt more like a collection game, excellent graphically but the pleasure of driving is lost...

@KaosuKaiari you're problem is you're not a gran turismo fan. you're obviously against evolution of the series if you really prefer the "sense of speed" in Gt2. Grid has a similar sense of speed, do you prefer that as well? your other problem is that you're not being objective. seriously, what do promises or your expectations have to do with a game? because you can't get over it, and you're being stubborn, you're missing out on what is by far the best in the series, GT5 owns gran turismo

@trinaclark74 GT5 is hardly a crash simulator... it's actually bad at replicating realistic crashes; but if you play GT5, you shouldn't play for the crashing, but for the driving. If you want damage, play GTA or Burnout...

Gotta love it though, I don't know why it's hated so much, the "left-turn" argument is irrelevant. I'd like to see them drive 180+mph on banked turns, with 3 in front, 2 around and 3 behind you; not so easy!

@1eewe1 We'd need GT6 to have 5's cars, ALL PREMIUM please, none of that Standard/Premium bullshit, a better damage model system, and please... a sense of SPEED... We've lost the sense of speed and the true fun of driving in 4 and 5! I am still playing 1 and 2 because they deliver more fun and more pleasurable driving experience. I was disappointed of GT4; it felt like the game sacrificed the fun for the looks. Granted, 4 and 5 look good, but I don't play for Photo mode...

Sorry but unrealistic is not what the series is about it, you may prefer it but that's no gran turismo. and how are promises relevant? you being dissapointed doesn't change what the game is, the fact is, gt5 does everything that the rest of the series does better, and it expands upon what has made the series great. Not only is the core of the game (physics) drastically improved, but the features added give it more re-playability

@thnk4urself GT2 was realistic - for the era it was released in. And GT2 is as much a Gran Turismo game as the others. It's a matter of opinion, and opinions is what makes fans. If a game appeals or not to players is never objective. GT5 didn't appeal to me, the rest of the games did (though I didn't enjoy much the 'loss of speed' of GT4, I did still enjoy this game, but less than the earlier episodes).

IMO GT5 does not differ much from GT4 by graphics and sound, and GT4 looks a bit better than GT3, and engine sounds less disturbing in GT4 than in GT3. Also Night racing seem improved in GT4. But GT3 is a breakthrough comparing to GT2. I cannot tell anything about gameplay differences, as I never played any of 5. But judging by the looks I'd vote for GT4. I'm not much of a gamer, but my GF's 4 yo kid asked me to look for some good racing games, so now I'm spending a weekend on youtube :D

In GT1 it looks better than GT5. 1997: there were more trees, towers and street lamps.

2010: there aren't trees and there are only two or three towers. This is so sad. I hate how they changed the original High Speed Ring.

gt1, gt3 ,gt5 have awesome vtec sounds but in gt5 racing exhaust ruins sound on many cars and on others fully customizable trannys make a whining noise but all around gt2 was the most fun, gt1 was a racing revolution in gaming, gt3 was almost perfect, gt4 had the best graphics of its time, and gt5 is the most realistic racing game ever! good job gt series 4 bringing the best games ever
