  • he is

  • Firestorm = greatest robot never to win the main championship

  • Comment removed

  • Storm II is the only robot, apart from Tornado and Razor, who can get right under firestorn wedge every time. There may be more but I can't remember. Feel free to let me know if you can think of others.

  • @Gavin17259 in this fight storm 2 drives over firestorm multiple times so maybe not so much storm 2 but defo razer and tornado

  • @bsekilljoy Oh yeah, your right. Sotrm II does manage to get under Firestorm's wedge at 0:25 but all the other times it's actually getting under the side of the wedge.

  • @bsekilljoy Also, Storm II gets under Firestorm's wedge at 1:04 and 1:12

  • @Gavin17259 yeah but i was pointing out you said storm can get under it every time when it doesnt. but still storm shows that firestorm has its weaknesses.

  • @Gavin17259 acc i belive reactor 2 did in heat d of series 5

  • series 2 grand final repeat much except storm is panic attack and firestorm is cassius and firestorm have got to be the best flipper bot on the fact that it may have never won a grand final but it hase made it to there more times than chaos 2 did unless were counting george francis robot the bruce who was a grand finalist in the 1st ever series of robot wars

  • Such a shame for Firestorm, they had been third 3 times, made so many upgrades and it looked so promising for them this year, but a fast, compact rambot is probably the best counter for it, and thats what they got. I think they might have had a chance if it fired the flipper as Storm 2 came into contact with the wedge- it would drive onto the flipper as it rose and get flipped. Then maybe Firestorm could steer it to the pit, then stack Tornado against a wall and flip Typhoon to win the series.

  • I never bought this argument that Firestorm was a rip off of Cassius. Firestorm was a very different robot but this wasn't obvious from the outside. What made Firestorm unqiue was its use of drive differential steering rather than tank steering which made it easier to control, hence the apparent superior driving. This, of course, isn't obvious to kiddies who just look at a robot's shape.

The populairty of the wedge came from the fact it was useful: everyone from Roadblock to Razer knew this.

  • If the producers said that because storm 2 didn't use its weapon in this fight it should be disqualified, how come Tornado was allowed to use its scoop!?

  • @yc05cvm honestly i never liked tornado, and the team

  • my two favourites 1 on 1

  • I was so sad when this happened, I loved Firestorm, and with Razer and Hypno Disc being absent from Series 7, Firestorm was by far my favorite robot in the whole series, I wanted them to win so much

  • i wanted firestorm to win a series, and once again it didn't happen :( was very much like a panic attack vs cassius battle, and once again the pusher won against the front-hinge flipper

  • 1:04 - 1:12 He got that wrong, Firestorm were in THREE grand finals, in the 3rd, 5th and 6th wars!

  • Not pleased with Mentorn in the aftermath of this battle - they wanted to disqualify Storm II because he never used his lifting arm against Firestorm, even though the rules state all robots must have a moving weapon. But of course, not only did Mentorn put this rule in to fuck with Storm, but it doesn't say anywhere that the weapon had to be used in battle, it just had to be there. Thankfully, the judges were steadfast. I love Firestorm but Storm won this fair and square.

  • 0:53. The bots look like they be thinkin': Oh shit, back the fuck up, it's Matilda!!

  • I thought Firestorm reached the Grand Final 3 times? 1:07

  • although firestorm was good, storm II was even better.

  • Storm 2 ran over robot wars.

  • Strom II and Razor are the only bots that can get underneath Firestorms front wedge that I know of.

  • @Gavin17259 X-terminator managed to do that as well in the heat final of series 6. Lovely.

  • @Gavin17259

however, Firestorm had the ground clearance underneath storm 2 at the start of the fight, therefore Razer did have the lowest ground clearance of any robot in robot wars.

  • @RobotsGreatWar2 razer never had the lowest ground clearance, the only reason why razer could get under lots of robots was because it was front heavy, same rule with firestorm, they were front heavy meaning all their weight was on the front which can explain why when filpped over, had troble self righting, even firestorm had trouble selfrighting, robots like razer and firestorm were weakest at the sides, shown by pussycat and tornado for razer and storm for firestorm

  • @Isle0fRed

Im sorry thats not correct as Razer's weight is at the back of the robot, as when it got flipped over, it had to open the claw to balance the weight at the rear in order to self-right. Razer from extreme 1 improved their front scoop to get under robots and did have the lowest ground clearance.

  • @Isle0fRed well it costed them speed which they never had

  • I fucking hate Firestorm such a rip of from Cassius 2's design and the original Firestorm ripped of Cassius1's design and so to robots like Gravedigger who ripped it's design.

  • @Ratchet3Mark calm down, its not a rip off, they were just inspired, so you hate robots who have similar weapons and designs to each other? that isnt very fair

  • @Ratchet3Mark for fucks sakes man! Different drives, coloure name, power and shape (this was more curved at the sides then both cassius') make them pretty much entirly different! Get over it!

  • @A9132robotwars: LMAO!!! Looks like someone's getting upset over someone elses opinion. You fool, get over yourself.

  • @Ratchet3Mark Actually they are completey different beside the way the flipper comes out. So that means you hate hypno-disc cause hasn't the first to have a disc, you must hate all flippers. You just looked at the shape and go there the same. The insides are very different.

  • @legomailman: *Sigh*, before i wrote that comment i already knew that Firestorm had different drives and motors to Cassius. Hell that's not my point, the idea was taken from Cassius. Hypno-Disc uses a Flywheel. I don't hate all flippers, don't jump into conclusions.

  • @Ratchet3Mark No I wasn't jumping to conclusion I was saying by you logic in that comment meant you must hate hypno-disc because he wasn't hate first to have a disc. Robots like weely big cheese werent the first to have a flipper so you must hate him. That what I meant. All Firestorm did was use a front hinged flipper. The only thing incommon nothing else. It ok to hate robot. I hate Typhoon 2 but to hate just cause of the way the flipper comes out is stupid.

  • @legomailman: Did you even read my comment properly? It was the shape, design and weapon ideas that are of Cassius 2. Im just saying that as my opinion, yeah Wheely Big Cheese may not be the first robot to have a flipper. I still like it for what it is. I just don't like Firestorm. And no it's not stupid to dislike a robot for what it is. There are other reasons why i dislike Firestorm. Quit bitching.

  • 0:38 cassius vs panick attack moment

  • @psycholizardboy Nawwwww thats a SMIDSY vs Panic Attack moment :D

  • @pepegauley2 Ya tottally! And I would know because Ihave that episode recorded and I have watched it countless times

  • I really like Storm 2. Not known to many Storm 2 was actually fighting a constant battle with the shows producers who hated the robot and kept trying to do everything they could to put it out to the more "exciting" robots including raising Tornado out of the pit once Storm 2 threw it down there. They even claimed that during this battle with Firestorm that Storm 2 should be disqualified because it didn't fire its weapon. The judges told them to fuck off thankfully but can you believe that?

  • @Fireworkatheart lol! how could they thing storm wasn't eciting!! it was immense! and it was the first to get a robot out of the arena without using its weapon!

  • Yeah Storm 2 proved its worth but by then it had become a matter of pride for the producers. They didn't like that Storm 2 were basically openly defying them so they kept trying to make them lose.

  • @Fireworkatheart really? where did you get this information, may i ask?

  • @tourdeforce17 he probably got it from the robotwars wiki. That's how I learnt from it. but yeah they did. why do you think fucking typhoon won this series?

  • Worst battle ever, Firestorm is the best.

  • Hey, anyone who wants robotwars back should go on google and type in: 'BRING ROBOTWARS BACK'

select the first suggested site , which is a petiton, and sign it.

  • Still trying to find when firestorm flipped mr.psycho...

  • Round 2 of Commonwealth Carnage (Firestorm vs Panic Attack)

  • Ahh thanks dude :)

  • Christ that is some good driving!!!!

  • Why is it a copy of Tornado? Just because it runs on both sides and pushes stuff around really well?

  • I really stopped liking Tornado because I feel they cheated against Razer.

  • erm... storm 2 have a flipping arm (which they never really use.)

  • They were really intelligent when they did use it though.

They used it ONCE against tornado, flipping them over and rendering their scoop useless.

And they used it a couple of times against typhoon 2 in the grand final of series 7. They lost but it was extremely close, if they'd have flipped typhoon 2, the fight would be theirs.

Storm 2 is far too fast though. Tornado is geared very low, and is a better pusher than storm 2. Tornado's scoop also gets under storm 2 in a front assault.

  • they used it in the grim reaper fight in semi final 1 - round 1

  • sorry but storm two is the better pusher because

it has 50HP plus 10mph vs 25mph who obviously beat the same machine twice? storm 2 did..

  • If a 100kg machine had 50hp, it would be uncontrollable. That would be an absolutely catastrophic power to weight ratio.

I had a budget car with 65hp and that was capable of 100mph, despite weighting 1080kg

Storm 2 is too fast for it's own good. I prefer tornado's design, as its purposely geared very low to keep the top speed down, and the pushing power very high.

in a head to head attack, tornado goes straight under storm 2 and storms 6 wheels cannot compete with tornado's 4 pneumatic tyres

  • 50HP? No, it had 18HP and would do 25 mph, you have your facts wrong.

  • They only added to flipping arm because a rule in the seventh wars said every robot had to have a moving weapon to compete.

  • I actually think this is one of the most contriversal matches of Season 7. Why? Because Storm II never used its active weapon. On the Team Website, they said that because Storm didn't use its lifter in this fight, it was fighting WITHOUT an active weapon. So then Mentorn tried sabotashing them by raising up the pit for Tornado and allowing the Typhoon team to repair their weapon motor in the final. What assholes the show producers are.

  • When I first saw this I was nearly in tears, poor Firestorm

  • Yer but storm 2 is aursome!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ah that's dissappionting. I really like Firestorm.

  • Hi there everyone, I'm designing a new fighting robot which is going to be a rammer like storm 2 or tornado, and I was wondering if anyone here has any advice/tips/ideas on making a rammer.

  • Firestorm could arguably be considered the best robot in the series. I mean ok its been beaten by the likes of Razer Chaos 2 and Tornado but its been the same design since Series 3 and I dont think there is any other robot that could claim a track record of three Grand finals and two semi finals. Razer Chaos and Tornado have all fallen in the heats at least once.

  • I certainly think it's one of the best, if not THE best. I did a little tally on track records, and Firestorm easily got the most points (Tornado, Chaos 2, Razer, Hypno-Disc, Panic Attack, Bigger Brother and X-Terminator followed it, respectively)

  • I reckon Firestorm is the best robot who has never won a series.

  • i agree, so much.

  • Agreed. Hypnodisc was more devastating, but firestorm was better overall.

  • By the looks of this though, there was only so long that Firestorm could live with the newer robots.

However despite this, Firestorm = legend

  • Agreed. Only robot ever to flip Mr Psycho over - legend for sure!

  • hypno-disk?

  • Firestorm did win a special episode, but BBC never showed it. They won the Commonwealth Carnage in Extreme 2. They were also the only robot ever to flip Mr Psycho over.

  • @athull08 the BBC never showed the Commonwealth Carnage? then how come I remember watching it on a friday night back in 2003? I remember it like it was yesterday

  • @IndianaJoel93 I meant it was shown on BBC Choice, but never BBC2, which is why I never saw it untill it came on youtube.

  • @Shadsilvson11 firestorm or hypnodisc but firestorm was more reliable

  • @Shadsilvson11 I'd have to disagree with you i feel Hypno-Disc is but Firestorm really should have gone further in some of the series. It was very unlucky with some of it's opponents

  • @Shadsilvson11 along with hypnodisc in my view

  • @Shadsilvson11 possibly hypno disc

  • @discombobulator97 Hard to tell tho, Firestorm and Hypno-disc met twice and both have beaten the other... so they stand 1:1

  • @Shadsilvson11 then hypno-disc

  • @Shadsilvson11 Lets not forget Hypno-Disc. He slaughtered Firestorm. Hypno-Disc could have won series 5 if Bigger Brother wouldn't have been able to push them into the pit, it was really lucky. A fight against razer would have been amazing. I accutaly think Hypno-Disc would have won it, becouse Razer is so week.

But then again, if Hypno-Disc would have beaten Pussycat in season 4, Chaos would have lost easy as pie.

  • @Kulska Actually it was the other way round Firestorm slaughter Hypno-disc. After just being in a fight with razor FIrestorm went up against hypno-disc to decide who would come third. Firestorm flipper was not working and was patched up with cellatape and manged to make hypno-disc stop working.

  • @legomailman Oh sry, i was thinking of the semi-finals, my bad ;P

  • @Kulska I doubt Hypno-Disc would've beaten Razer. Razer is almost all metal and even the body is tough. Even If Hypno-Disc could do damage it would fall foul of the claw pretty easily and then the disc is broken

  • @ChildOfTheWilderness True true. But if Hypno-Disc got a hit in the back, Razer is dead. Its their week spot. But your opinion makes a point. If Razer managed to get some luck and destroy the disc yes, but otherwise it can be hard. It would have been a great battle though since we never got to see it.

  • @Shadsilvson11 I reckon it's Hypnodisc.

  • It sucks firestorm might've won if their sheet at the front hadnt been shattered. U saw at the start firestorm looked the stronger machine.

  • that is why you should never beat panic attack like x terminator int to panic attack twice and it keep winnig but when firestorm competes it always loses that nw concludes a our lesson

  • Probably the 2 strongest robots ever fightig here against each other!

  • A good battle, i think firestorm good have beaten storm 2 though. he got underneath near the start, and if he could get storm 2 flipper, his sideskirts would've been of no use, so firestorm could flip im out the arena

  • Firestorm did get under Storm 2 at the being.

  • They have an Alluminuim sheet at the front, Which has a 0 Ground Clearance, But in the interview after the fight. Graham said that the scoop got buckled after storm ran over them.

  • I really like Firestorm and the drivers Graham and Hazel but it seems they were too nice to withstand the aggression of Storm.

  • JP says that Firestorm made it to the Grand Final twice, but he actually made it 3 times. Is everyone forgeting about the 3rd wars?!

  • No, on firestorm vs panic attack they said about panic attack "They lost their crown to firestorm in the Third series"

  • I was so disapointed when Firestorm lost this fight. Without Hypno-Disc and Razer in the series, Firestorm was my favourite robot to win it. :(

    Ah well.

  • This was probably the Fourth time Firestorm has Lost Via KO/TKO, other than than that, most of thier few losses have come from the Judges Decisions.

  • If Firestorm's blade hadn't gotten bent or at least they flipped Storm over, they could have won :(

I wonder how Graham and Hazel are doing nowadays.

  • Oh honestly, do you really think it's any of our business to be interested in someone's private life?

  • Guess not lol

  • @hogwild94 ahahahaha your reaction, and its just curiosity, they make a cute couple and Headbanger just wondered how they are doing, where is the harm in that?
