  • Do you have to cover the cost for your appointments/medications? does your insurance cover anything? I am also considering egg donation.

  • I might be doing it , I'm scared. I'm trying my best to read everything I can. I just don't wanna take drugs for it. Do the cut you open or something? Please help? Do you have to take the drugs?

  • I'm on donor #3 because my first one backed out at the beginning of the cycle and donor #2 failed medical screening. On to donor #3... :/

  • Hey thanks for the videos, not too many videos are out there from girls who have went through egg donation process. I have been chosen by a couple recently and I am about the start the process. I was just curious, did you let your family know about your decision and were you nervous about the health concerns regarding the egg donation process? (I'm still a little nervous)

  • @gabbybahnmuller1 I told my mom and grandmother about my decision because they're both pretty open-minded, but nobody else in my knows about it. I wasn't really nervous about the health aspects of it because the doctors and nurses at the clinic were very honest with me and gave me a lot of information on how to take care of myself during the process. Make sure you follow their instructions to a t, and you'll be fine too. :)

  • I'm not sure what abortion has to do with donating eggs to help a couple who otherwise wouldn't be able to conceive a child...

  • @missjamiesue You are doing it for the money. Sorry get a job. Yes I do have a girl 1000 times better than you.

  • @zjbeast When I donated eggs, I had a very good full-time job at an Ivy League university. The extra money did help me pay for my graduate school tuition, but it wasn't the sole reason for donating. Also, I'm not sure what your girlfriend has to do with this.

  • @zjbeast you lack in morals, ethics and understanding!

Shes doing a beautiful selfless thing, you wouldnt deserve to be with a woman like her!

    xJ

  • do you gain weight???

  • I gained about 5 pounds during the process, but it all went away after the retrieval.

  • hey. i'm 18 years old, and I was thinking about donating eggs to pay my way through college. I was wondering if it was a painful process? because someone told me it was even though they've never gone through it. I'm a little nervous going ahead with the idea. however I really need the money and I feel that it would be great if I could donate my eggs to a family that needs it.

  • I think "uncomfortable" describes the process better. I think it really varies from person to person, but I didn't find it to be unbearable either time I donated. I wouldn't recommend donating with the idea in mind that you will be paying for college. It's not just a quick way to make a lot of money...it can be very difficult emotionally.

  • Thanks for all your videos!! Were you ever scared of the needles? That is one of my biggest objections... it sounds like they make you give yourself a shot in the class? It's not like I could just have my husband do it for me?! LOL

  • Thank you for letting me know. Good luck in grad school!

  • Have you experienced any pain during the months following the procedure? Have your ovaries returned to their normal size? Are there any long term side effects?

  • No, I never experienced pain the months after the retrieval. After I had my period after the procedure, my ovaries returned to their normal size and I could exercise again. As for long-term side effects, there aren't any that are known at this point other normal risks associated with any surgery.

  • does any part of the process hurt?

  • I wouldn't say there is any "pain" involved, but it was certainly uncomfortable when my ovaries were swollen and when the empty follicles filled with fluid after the retrieval.

  • I did this. I GOT REALLY SICK.STOP. Read about Ovarian Over Stimulation Syndrome. Not to mention the psychological aftermath.

  • I'm sorry that you got sick. However, I was aware of the risks involved, and I decided helping someone was worth taking a chance. If you watched more of the videos, you would realize that I too developed a slight case of OHSS, but it only lasted a few days. I had no issues after the physical effects subsided. The process is different for everybody.

  • how serious is OHSS and what happens to your body when you get it? It won't effect your capability to have kids in the future will it?

  • OHSS made my empty follicles fill with fluid after the eggs were removed and I gained an additional 5 pounds just a few days. I drank a bunch of Gatorade and water to flush out my system, and it went away in 3 days. Some people get severe OHSS and they have to go to the hospital and have the fluid drained from them. If you take care of yourself and monitor your weight and body temperature, then it won't affect your health or ability to have children in any way!

  • what is the psychological aftermath of all this? is it like selling a baby of yours?

  • @yoguey ... she's only donating unfertilized eggs... not fertilized embryos... there's a big diff.

  • i was thinking about donating. what happened when you did it?

  • Lots of things happened! Are you curious about anything specifically?

  • ha ha. Sorry, that was a really stupid and broad question.

  • I just have to say from the whole infertile comunity a HUGE Thank You so much for being so generous! I'm currently doing ivf & talk to many women online who are doing it also & the agony they go through when they find out their own eggs are no good is undescribable. So thank you for giving someone like that hope! Also did u say ur jabin ur leg? injections are best done in ur belly an inch+ from ur navel for minimum pain so try it you'll be amazed :) search ivf for vids of shots they're so helpful

  • so you're lending your womb?

do you have to have had children in order to do this?
