  • was is the guitar called?

  • @BrushfireNAVY An Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray

  • This sounds absolutely amazing!

  • Is the tunning standard?:)

  • Any tips on how to build strength in my ring and pinky finger?

  • @TheZombieXecutioner Lots and lots of practice!

Everyday before I practice I start with a warm up where I basically do a bunch of scales up and down the neck using all my fingers.

  • I am so fucking proud of myself right now^^

  • nice !!

  • Hey Dman- I have to say I love your lessons, and you inspire me to be a better bassist. I can't wait for your Book to come out. I'd like to know if I could use this lesson for a line in my band thank you.

  • Alright, I have a really important question that'll prolly sound really stupid to you: Is there a different tapping technique if I play on a fretless? I've been trying the way your lessons taught, and it doesn't sound the same as on my fretless, sounds kinda dead-ish.

  • @Skulrath Not a different technique, no, but it WILL sound different due to the set-up difference in both basses. In tapping, the frets make a big difference to sound. You CAN tap on a fretless, but it'll sound completely different, as you say.

  • super helpful. thnx

  • thanxs, i can do it easily^^ sounds very beautiful

  • can i use this in a song for my band please reply

  • dude i like it... can you make a tab for that tapping exercise??

  • i'm playing bass with a pick' is it ok if i tap with my 2nd (middle) finger twice and do the intervals with the 3rd and 4th?

  • @merfeldaniel If that is comfortable for you, then go for it! :)

  • sounds beautiful. fantastic. thankx.

  • I was thinking of adding a slide from the eleventh to twelveth fret, just a thought someone might also like.

  • nice piece. thanks for the videos.

  • Regarding your left hand, do you just "land" it on the string, thus making the tone depending on which fret it is, or do you bend it in some way? Thanks.

  • Nice

  • video lessons is the way to go. I think this inspired me :)

  • 5 stars!

  • you are such a good teacher! You know which parts to play slower and which need repetition. I love your videos.

  • this makes me want a bass

  • can you plz tell me what tuning you use?

  • @apocalipticaftw Standard tuning. E-A-D-G :)

  • is this a real song? if so, whats the title?

  • Wow... Thats tasteful.. pretty much one of the most tastefull riffs I've heard for a while

  • que capo el tipo este....im learning a lot!!

  • What I'm asking is, how do you get such good tone? :)

  • I can play it perfectly but whenever I pull off I get an annoying ring, do I need to adjust some knobs or something?

  • Very pretty, man. Definately ganna learn this. (: Keep it up.

  • amazing video! thanks so much, this is very useful there should be more people who make videos like this

  • @TheMusicianWannabe Thankyou! :)

  • @JetOuterBlack Nope, it's fine! You just need to keep on practicing. There are plenty of great tappers with small fingers :)

  • @Dmanlamius76 thank u very much!

  • You have taught me tons dude, i have watched everyone of your videos at least once, you've basically taught me everything i know. Can't thank you enough man.

  • Glad to be of help to you....:)

  • do you have a reverbb pedalll....yourr bass sounddss raww

  • My question is, What do u Have your bass tunned at because I see in your tappeing video that it doesnt look like your pushing that hard and with mine i would haft to tap a lot harder to get the sounds u make. Ive only had my laguna for about 4 mounths and im getting there but i think my sound is off its tuned but my strings are not as lose, its a 4 string by the way. So what im asking is what do i tune it to to get that sound im looking for.

  • It's in standard tuning. I think there maybe some slight compression on the korg unit I use. These newer vids are played through that, rather than through an amp. I think that's why they sound of a better quality. I've done a review of it if you;re interested?

  • @Fang334

I had the same problems when I bought my used bass guitar. Then I realised that my strings were too high over the board.

  • So many people put their videos up just to show off and try to look cool. You are truly trying to teach people how to play and I appreciate that...and you do it well I might add. I've learned alot from these videos. Great teacher and great bassplayer. Thanks man!

  • dman..... y dont u talk in your videos anymore? I MISS UR AWSOME ACCENT!!!

  • man your are such a sick player!!! i love your videos and i learn sooo much :D:D:D

  • dude dman could u plz tell me what settings would i use for a musicman stingray 5 to get the tone of a 4 string stingray?? any idea plz respond

  • im not a fan of taping, maybe cos my bass sounds even worse when i do it or maybe cos none of my fav basest do it i dont no, just not for me

  • Ditto

  • I can't win! Lol! I get people asking me to do more, then people saying they dont like it, then people saying stop the funk, arrgggg More metal! Arggggg! Lol, o' well. There will be more lessons soon that will suit you all. Can't please everyone all the time :D

  • well if everyone was always out to please everyone else, there would never be any original music.

do what you want and what you like, and people will follow you or not, but it shouldnt matter as long as it makes you happy :D

  • i hate how u stopped talking man... ur lessons had taste when u talked now its Pure practice :(.. But tis awesome practice and this is a great excercise i guess :P. Thanks for makin the effort

  • I liked it more when he talked too but i bet scripting what he'll say and then actually doing it will take 10 times more time than it will just doing that.

  • Nice one bro, cheers for the lessons

  • Is tapping really used in songs??? I only know Thunderstruck from AC/DC but thats on guitar.

  • Yeah a lot of rock has tapping on guitar. You're more likely to find tapping on bass in jazz or fusion though. Its all out there, tapping is quite common.

  • eddie van halen made a career out of it.

  • braindrill and cryptopsy have a ton have tapping. infact, they tap on a 7string bass.

  • In alot of death and tech-death metal bands that use basses with more than 4 strings will use it. I know I like io tap just to hear myself play. If your lookin for traditional rock and metal, try cliff burton maybe.

  • that's amazing! Thanks Dman :)

  • Excellent
