It's obvious to any non-muslim who's followed this story that this is not a protest against the Islamic revolution but rather a protest against corruption in the voting process. It happens... George Bush's first term for instance. But thats the problem, Iran is in the firing line, prime target of the propoganda machine. Anything to take the news away from Israels holy land grab. Obama is a disciplined strategist for not openly supporting these people. One of the cornerstones of oppressive regimes in the area is creating what Kissinger called the Invisible Enemy, which is by necessity external. They can rally the people around this, and have used the US for this purpose for years. Our policies have played into it. The best strategy is to do nothing to allow them to portray this situation as orchestrated by the West, as they are already attempting.

Not only have oppressive regimes used this way of rallying people against a common feared enemy (even if it is not real) but the US has done this also. This is how the whole "axis of evil" mantra got started in the US--to unite the Americans against a fabled enemy.
