damn bob is blabbin on and on like hes on coke or something. but hey,...it was the 80's....maybe this show always looked like it never got out of the late 70's....even when bob was in hisBAZING
I totally agree with mrnitrous20; I don't even watch the show anymore for the same reasons he/she listed. BTW, that Gustava is one tall sister; she gave that wheel a HUGE spin on her first spin!

Bob made the show, without him the price is right blows especially with that dork drew carrey. They shouldn't have changed the music it just sucks, basically they should have retired the show with bob and aired reruns. Thank God for Youtube
Nah...it's not. I can see how diehard Barker fans would be turned off, but I still like the show. So that must say something. They could do worse (and since it is Fremantle, I shouldn't invite them...)
The music changes, if you meant the remastering, is actually subtle for the most part, though other times there are notable differences. They still use classic cues, BTW.
And the DVD, which is awesome. Hope there'll be more. Which concerns me, for the same reasons why reruns might be hard to come by...yes it'd be easier on CBS than CBS leasing them to GSN. But as we know, Bob is choosy in what reruns can be used. (the fur thing...there were also rumors that he won't clear eps. with Holly, which was why no '80s episodes on the DVD...though it can also be that this was simply a 1972-75 set with the last Barkers as a bonus)
Also...I wonder if reruns as old as 35 years old would be a draw on network television. They can barely be seen on certain cable channels that were supposed to be showcases for them, after all.
It works on PBS with old Mister Rogers episodes (after his retirement/death), but that's public TV. I just wonder how/if it would work out here.
There were other people besides Barker that made the show, how about Janice Pennington, Dian Parkinson, Holly Hallstrom, Kathleen Bradley, Johnny Olson, and Rod Roddy to name a few...
The walls of the Big Wheel were originally gold when it debuted on the first hour-long show on November 3, 1975. The walls were changed to red by December 30, 1977. By late March, 1979, pink "Pricedown" dollar signs were added to the walls. On September 12, 1988 the current gold slanted dollar signs debuted on the walls.
Bente Christensen-Dukes (set designer) has returned the Pricedown dollar sign this season -- one giant silver one set to the backdrop of a red wall with the same pattern as that on the walls and doors. The wall and wheel this year were initially purple, but Drew had it discarded after five shows.

I miss the triangle that showed the contestants spinning the big wheel during the Showcase Showdown.

It's funny how Bob's speech slows down along with the wheel.

They should have kept the 'contestant arrow' camera angle, as it made it easier to see what the contestant actually got.

I haven't seen it since Drew's inception. Is it really that bad? Everyone I know that was a faithful watcher no longer watches it.

September 12, 1988? Damn, I was 2 when that happened. I like the "Pricedown" dollar sign better.
