Yeah man I agree. Jazz & Funk is riddled with amazing bassists. Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten, Buddy Hankerson, Francis Prestia, Stu Hamm, Larry Graham, Mark King, Bill Dickens, thats just to name a few.

Your listening to the wrong music. mainstream, the bass is just in the back. Alot of less mainstream stuff its alot more prominant.
