The purpose of this exercise isn't to become the world's greatest "behind the back clap push up expert." It's to make the kid a more effective wrestler. Using muscle groups in his back and legsI to assist in this movement is not detrimental to his health. In fact, he is getting a more complete overall work out. In this context, speed, explosion, and high reps are the goal. Performing a few perfect repetitions, as you advocate, wouldn't do much to make him a better wrestler.

So don't talk about their form being incorrect when u don't know the type of push up they're doing.
A very athletic plyometric psuh up variation requiring timing, power, spped, and coordination - and most of the body's muscles, even the hips and abs and legs to sort of help propel the body up. Tough stuff.
@EyeBeeWeazy The danger of falling on your face if you clap too slowly helps you to try harder, in theory. Fast arm movement is good, but should perhaps be practiced separately at first. Faceplants are good motivators if they don't scare you away, and are great entertainment!

I know what he is doing i figured out when i tried it, hes actually shifting his weight onto his feet for a second in the air to buy him the time, to do this legit takes so much practice. 3 sets 10-15 reps? No one starting out would ever be able to do that. This excercise is very very hard when done properly, unlike the man in the video which is very unfortunate as otherwise this excercise could have become very popular..
lol one handed? You dont even need to go that far, just normal pushups are much harder, your biceps and chest are under constant strain with no rest. These pushups are reliant on momentum and give you ~1 second break per pushup :S
Have you ever tried doing these kind of push ups? I can manage about 1/5 the amount of plyometric pushups that I can normal so don't try and tell me they're easier

Lol this workout stimulates a quick reaction with your hands also works your chest, just look at what he said, this makes your hand reaction an incredible speed if you go a long time doing them, and speed bag is for punching speed and reflexes...

I know what he is doing i figured out when i tried it, hes actually shifting his weight onto his feet for a second in the air to buy him the time, to do this legit takes so much practice. 3 sets 10-15 reps? No one starting out would ever be able to do that. This excercise is very very hard when done properly, unlike the man in the video which is very unfortunate as otherwise this excercise could have become very popular..

lol one handed? You dont even need to go that far, just normal pushups are much harder, your biceps and chest are under constant strain with no rest. These pushups are reliant on momentum and give you ~1 second break per pushup :S

Have you ever tried doing these kind of push ups? I can manage about 1/5 the amount of plyometric pushups that I can normal so don't try and tell me they're easier

@LilbitLoczy Actually I have and i find them alot easier than regular pushups, if you do honestly find them more difficult, it must be one of those things that varies according to a persons build type :S

when i was 10 i could do a shit ton of pushups. i could do like 200 like nothin. now i train every day n 200 is farrrr beyond me. younger kids are more wiry strong and light as well. It makes a HUGE difference.
