I think the M5 wanted to line up with you and do 3 honks. Probably floored it when he saw you coming but at that point it's too late. Just my opinion. 996 stock is not THAT much faster than an M5 and I'd expect it to be more even if porsche had a passenger and M5 was solo.

Remember this was in Johannesburg in South Africa 1600m (about 4800ft) above sea level on a mountain, so obvious turbo will murder a normally aspirated M5. So at sea level the air is more dense thus more power (about 18% for normally aspirated engines but turbo cars only 2-3% more power compared to altitude of about 5000feet above sea level)- here in Johannesburg a turbo car will easily beat a more powerfull non-turbo car.

As soon as the traffic cleared he went left flatout, as soon as he saw he was losing he backed off, also he did not have standard pipes on, who knows what else he's done to that m5, because it was pretty fast
