  • nice man!, i read your argument about dropping the weight, i think it depends on your goals tbh. if you wanna create explosiveness and speed you should come down with the weight and then straight back up. if you want just raw power dropping the weight is just fine.

  • how the fuck do you keep hold of that weight with double over hand oh my days

  • WOW!YOUR LEGS ARE DOPE!DO U GET COMMENTS FROM GIRLS FOR THESE? :)(asking how they get them too :P )

  • DOH grip much respect.

  • Glad im not the only one that trains with an overhand grip...nice work dude. Thats a lot of grip strength man. Awesome!

  • hook grip?

  • blenderate have u tried to deadlift on weigthlifting olympic shoes/?how was it?i say cause u could add some leg power with the shoes n u seem to have plenty :)

  • Holy sit dem legss

  • nice quads lol

  • excellent lifting!!

  • do you squeeze your glutes while u bring the weight up?

  • @SmexyPC Of course.

  • i feel sorry for your back the next day

  • Is that not bad for you to drop the weight inbetween each rep like that?

  • @alrefai10 Why would it be bad?

  • @Blenderate Why? Isn't it called a 'dead lift' because the weight lifting motion gets killed by slamming the weight on the floor!

  • @Econ1260MetZRoberto That's an argument for technique based on semantics. Technique should be based on achieving desired goals, not meeting some arbitrary definition of "correct". There are multiple valid ways to perform the deadlift, each with their own benefits and drawbacks.

  • @Blenderate you are lifting from a dead stop every time? you aren't bouncing the weight, so why would it matter?

  • @Econ1260MetZRoberto It's called a deadlift because the weight is "dead" on the floor when you pick it up...meaning there is no momentum to help lift the weight with. Nothing good happens in the negative phase of the exercise so it is just fine to lower it very quickly or even drop it.

  • @Econ1260MetZRoberto the deadlift is only the lift part... infact having a slow negative with the deadlift can be dangerous for the back

  • alice in chains :)

  • off topic sorry, but what's the music playing in the background?

  • big fuckin man! fuck i miss deadlifts, i broke my back a few years ago fractured L5 and it has never been the same since.

also why the double overhand, why not alternating grips?

  • big fuckin man! fuck i miss deadlifts, i broke my back a few years ago fractured L5 and it has never been the same since.

  • must be nice to train at a gym like this and not a pussy fitness center like me. full of bs like easy listning on the radio and crazy rules like no chalk..

  • your quads are HUGE

  • When was the last time you were able to get in a decent workout like this in?

  • @xjusticex2013x Many months. My back has not been doing well this year.

  • @Blenderate Yeah, that sucks. I've been reading your training log. You're doing a real good job at cutting. But, I must ask, what are you going to modify so that you don't pick up the extra fat again?

  • @xjusticex2013x I'll keep my diet 100% clean and track my food intake. I'll adjust upward or downward as needed to maintain my weight.

  • great deadlifting

  • it is perfect exercise for all muscles but this exercise killes low-vertebraes and spine nerves.

  • "Ice the back"... that's key to recovery... I usually take a cold shower to really reduce the body temperature... Any way, good luck mate.

  • I doubt I even have to say it but this is great work. Just curious where this gym is. The equipment is amazing.

  • Thanks. :) The gym is SSPT, located in Rockvile, MD. I can't post a link here, but you can find one in my training log.

  • wow insane legs man good inspiration coming from a bodybuilder not powerlifter

  • what is the hook?

  • The hook grip. You put your thumbs under your fingers when you grasp the barbell. It allows you to lift a lot more weight than with the thumbs on top, but it hurts more.

  • ooo ok thank you

  • Great pulling. Thanks for the comment on my DL video. I didn't realize you did hook grip also. I can't see myself ever going back, hook just feels much more natural and stable now. I think I might try the snatch grip pulls too for more speed off the floor.

    You're a beast!

  • Oh my god! You have beautiful legs, plain and simple, beautiful!

  • Man, intense workout. The pulls looked strong. Back must be feeling better. Great workout.

  • Comment removed

  • strong pulls, man! do you ever use an over/under grip instead of a double over or hook?

  • I haven't used a mixed grip since I started using the hook, and I don't see myself ever going back.

  • is the hook safe on thumbs?

  • Safety is relative. :) IMO it's safer than supinating one arm and risking a biceps tear.

  • This routine looks great, think i might give it a try myself. Do you have an online log? It would be interesting to see how you trained the other lifts. Good deadlifting btw!

  • I added a link to my training log in the video description and on my profile page. Thanks for the props!

  • I am trying the same program with similar numbers, the next week is pretty tough... might not be as bad though since you cut out that last set of volume work. Nice pulling - especially hook grip.

  • im loving the snatch grip deadlifts, they musta hurt after that skin rip lol! do u hook for that?

  • I hook for the main deadlift sets, but I'm not man enough to hook for the snatch grips. :)

  • hahaha u must have a good grip then!

  • lol @ the skin. good work man.

  • 2:13 you can see that piece of skin flying off and laying on the ground LOL

  • Was that skin or a finger? That was huge.
