@COGIC1 From "The Mothers-In-Law". Short-lived but well-remembered sitcom with Eve Arden and Kaye Ballard. Desi was the executive producer, directed many episodes, and guest starred on a few episodes.
@1986Sheri: An actor who was popular in the 1960s and 1970's-he played Harry Mudd in two episodes of the original Star Trek, was Col. Gumm on an episode of Batman, and played one of the husbands on 'The Mothers-In-Law' for one season, until he left due to what he thought were improprieties in the budgeting of 'The Mothers-In-Law' (Desi was earning 4 or 5 salaries on the show.) He became a pitchman for a regional chain of Mexican restaurants later on and died in 1986 from a drug overdose.
@Neville6000 : I believe he was also the voice of Charlie the Tuna in the Star-Kist commercials...I know Herschel Bernardi did the voice for quite some time, but I'm sure Carmel also voiced Charlie.
Quite Smooth!! The United Artists Television Logo in 1968 was the first sign of the film company showing its true colors. A Solid 6!! Highly Impressive!!
Yes, that's right, 'ShaDeed'....around the time "THE MOTHERS-IN-LAW" began in '67. I'd forgotten about that, because the Transamerica logo virtually succeeded UA's in early '68.
@ShaDeed329 Yes. This one originally appeared on the 2nd (and final) season episodes of "The Mothers-in-Law". More later, it was used on syndie reruns of classic UATV show during that era.
@ShaDeed329 No need for a personal attack on something we have in common here. I just misread the info and thought they mentioned the logo, not the company itself.
When the series aired in syndication some time in the '80's, the UA logo was plastered over with the series' new distributor logo, Samuel Goldwyn.

He was also the voice of Cyclonus in the Transformers cartoon show in the 80s.

This logo was also seen at the end of syndicated prints of 2nd season episodes of "Gilligan's Island". I very clearly remember seeing it.

@MattTheSaiyan: He also tried to earn 4 (count 'em, FOUR!) salaries on the show, which is why Roger C. Carmel REALLY left the show.

1968 was the year Transamerica acquired United Artists. After the "Heaven's Gate" fiasco of 1980, they sold it to MGM...
fromthesidelines 1 year ago
You mean 1967. UA was sold to Transamerica in '67
ShaDeed329 1 year ago
@ShaDeed329 I took it from a 1968 television episode of "The Mothers-In-Law", so that's 1968 is the date I give.
MattTheSaiyan 1 year ago
I know that, but UA was acquired by Transamerica in 1967.
ShaDeed329 1 year ago
@ShaDeed329 This one is correct. The UA Circle was the first logo under Transamerica (in 1967). The "Blue T" came out in '68.
