  • a disease??..lololololol...lololololol..a CHOICE!

  • Father Martin RULES!!! :) Kindle owners, check out my eMagazine!! Namaste :) ... /watch?v=wocD6tEXIeo

  • My dad went to this rehab(very surprisingly) and before we got to 'hang' with him, as they say, we watch these Chalk Talks. They were great, taught me a lot, i really liked them.

  • a priest telling us not to drink wine..mmm..

  • @euroman32589 In the gospels Jesus drank wine but no where in scripture does it say to get shit faced. The body is the temple of the Holy Spirit if you are a child in Christ. If you are not a child of Christ than the door to your heart is open to wicked spirits. We must constantly rebuke the enemy when the spirit of addiction begins to press on us.

  • This man helped save my life. God Bless hm

  • Never seen anyone to dumb to recover but some of you folks are way to darn smart. God Bless ya........ lol

  • went to father martins ashley in havre de grace. and it is honestly an awesome place. father martin passed about a year or so before i got there, but there are still so many great things about it.

  • Great video - - anything that helps people with drinking too much

  • calling AA a cult for men is a bit over the top...what about all of the many groups for women out there....led by women...attended only by women. I don't think that AA is totally without fault...any large organization is going to have its share of problems..but for some of us who can't afford expensive treatment, it's the only game in town...AA is what you make of it.

  • Einstein's definition of insanity was doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results...and the same is true of the insanity of alcoholism..I know..I've lived it...and I am beginning to really understand. If AA helps just one person stay off alcohol long enough to get a handle on how distorted the thinking had become, then that's good enough. AA is free to anyone...anyone can attend a meeting or read the literature..no questions asked.

  • The alcoholic physician continues "i suppose a doctor might say this is psychosomatic medicine".i suppose the psychiatrist might say "this is benevolent interpersonal relations".i suppose others would say "this is group psychotherapy"..he concludes for himself "to me it is God".From my own perspective,i "get it" when the great spiritual teacher "Christ"..named himself "the divine physician"..who by always suggesting inner healing must come first, aligns himself to what the 12 steps also suggest

  • Where "negative or over-inflated euphoric spirits abound"..or perhaps a combination of both,it seems true that alcoholics really do require to undergo a process of "A.ltered A.ttitudes. How they do this is their own affair. AAs perspective states,no-matter how its done we must keep in a fit spiritual condition BBp85.in the BB story "physician heal thyself" perhaps a wise statement is made on the last page. it asks..what is this power that AA possesses? this curative power? i dont know what it is

  • BB p95-100 shows healing from alcoholism isnt dependant on social factors "at all".Dr Silkworths p6 shows there arent always underlying issues either. He states"there are types entirely normal in every respect except in the effect alcohol has upon them.Theyre often able intelligent friendly people".Unmanageable lives aren't always caused by feelings of negativity, inadequacy or hurt. Lifting the1st drink may also be caused by unrestrained over-inflated euphoric unmanageable feelings..& attitudes

  • insight & love in AAs BB indicate alcoholism to be "3 fold" in nature..mental physical & spiritual. The12 steps offer inner healing 1st. The chapter "More about alcoholism p64" describes how alcoholics have also been spiritually sick. Feelings & thoughts which "precede" taking the 1st drink "the crux of the problem" are described. P219 & 227 echo this. Perhaps "alcoholism" rather than alcohol is the problem. From a 12 step perspective the "ism" in alcoholism may well mean "inner spiritual malady"

  • Today is my first day of SOBRIETY! I'm really going to stick to it and keep going to meetings. When I didn't go I started drinking again. NEVER AGAIN! I will survive

  • @NuFrontman how are you doing today?

  • la cocaina!!

  • haha i out lived them all thats funny

  • Father Martin Rocks!

  • Great vid,,thanks..

  • Painful to watch...the real Alcoholic understands!

  • can't hear the audio.

  • What about picking up poisonous people. Over and over again........many ppl. return to either getting involved with toxic people. Or hanging out with them. And many of them are in the fellowship too. Thats a form of the insanity as well. We seek these ppl. out as lovers, friends, and sponsors even. I learned this too the hard way. People, places, and things. Can cause one to lose mental/emotional as well as physical sobriety.

  • ABSOLUTELY TRUE! "Alcohol was but a "symptom" of our disease."

  • @frkybig Thats just not emphasized enough, there are - always - always - always - underlying issues, more times than not , a psychological disorder. I couldn't have possibly had a clean look at my causes for abusing alcohol with out distancing my self from liquor (for my self) many, many years..now that I can be straight with myself, I clearly see that I was disturbed when I was at least in 5th grade. Some of the same issues are still in place now..thats how I know how far back it goes.

  • Google orange papers and rational recovery

  • joe martin is an trained psuedoauthority, and enjoys the browbeating others. perfect for a priest

  • AA Saves my life every single day. It is the best thing that ever happened in my life!!

If I am grateful, I will succeed. Thank God for AA.

  • AA is a prescription for relapse!!

  • I know it's killing me, and I am very disappointed that I am still breathing. The whole point of starting this alcohol addiction was to be dead by now.

  • Go help someone and get out of your head.

  • that's depression - see your doctor

  • Exactly! The Catholic Church and Alcoholics Anonymous have a lot in common. Both like to dish out old-fashioned, unnecessarily harsh, almost sadistic discipline.I got away from the Church in 1969 (I'm still a Christian, but I belong to a more "humane" denomination). and AA in 1999, and I'm doing fine without either one.

  • I found AA a fear-based male hierarchical cult much like the catholic church.

  • Fear-based male hierarchical cult? That's not AA, that's the bars I used to go to.

  • EXACTLY.these people seem to be above aa but cant offer a better programe or insight...never not once.

  • Father Martin is brilliant. I think God (Group Of Drunks) for him.

  • One of the most inspiring videos I have ever seen.

  • This shit got me drinking. *chug*

  • Thanks Father Martin, from a Baptist!

  • Not true. I'm living proof.

  • Of what, a drunk?
