that not all games work or work perfectly is unfair& not all modes are emulated,that,s also the reason why the master convertor,the 32x,but also (duo lacking input) the sega cd does,nt work,i dit,nt had aspect that sega had licensed this piece of crap.

why the sound is so porr emulated,it reminds me of typicall famiclones,wci suffers from the same problems,lacking all emulated modes,poor sound,not compatible with any game or the game runs buggy.

Ive been playing on the console for about 4 months now and I must say is would be great if it wasnt for the damn slow down. Every game ive played gets slow down at some point that it shouldnt. Castlevania BloodLines has so much slow down in some places its not funny.

Hey guys.....Since the system has built in wireless which im assuming is infrared.....Does it work with the old infrared genesis controllers?

Well do me a big favor and when you test it get back here and let me know if it works because if it does im going to be ordering 2 wireless genesis controllers because the cords are just way to short and dont reach my couch. Gotta sit in the middle of a floor like a little kid to play it lol.

I just use standard 3-button original Genesis controllers, and they have way longer cords. Also I recommend buying a longer A/V cord, as it will give you more distance.

And also you could buy controller extensions, those are another option.

I like the Genesis Firecore way more then the model 1, 2 or 3 but not more then the Genesis Nomad.

Genesis Firecore is a great little system, I am very happy to own one.

I tried one and no go, it must have a special infrared code, or something.

But with the controller setup and 2 controller extensions connected to the ports, you can use the original IR receiver.

He wanted to know if they would work directly on the system with the built-in infrared, it doesnt work but you can do it with the adapter.

Are you positive the Power Base Converter doesn't work? I was under the impression the PBC was basically an entire SMS and only used the Genesis for power. From what I remember it even worked on the Radica (with cart mod). Maybe you had a dirty SMS game.. try blowing on it. :P

Thanks for the review. I think I'm going to stick with my original Genesis model 1, with it's "HIGH DEFINITION GRAPHICS"! :P

Speaking of which.. I really wish there was a good solution for HDTVs.. even Svideo is lacking.

The issue is with the location of the power button but if the power button were somewhere else it might work.

Yeah, you certainly can. 3-button and 6-button controllers work on it.

@andy7666 yeah i bought one of these a long time ago. i hated it because of the cheap terrible sound, so i ended up buying a model 1 high def graphics genesis. its cheaper to buy the original anyways, i regret buying a firecore, what a piece of crap

I just got the Chinese version of this. and i have a low percent of working carts. ms pac man was one of them. I think i should of waited for this console. :P. oh well. i didnt get this for the cart slot. i got it for the built in games and controllers and i an quite pleased with it. if i want to use carts, ill just use my regular genesis

Was there a special converter for 32X games?  Couldn't you have tried that?

32X games won't work, you can't even hook up a 32X to the Firecore because it doesn't have a Genesis AV port of any kind. Just standard RCA.

El sonido es francamente malo... pero funciona con juegos japoneses, y funciona el Sonic & Knuckles... podrías subir un video con el juego Toki: Going Ape Spit, si no es mucha molestia? Me interesa saber si ese juego funciona en esta consola. Saludos!

Sound quality is horrible I would rather use Wii's Virtual Console an my PSP Genesis Emulator any day than this!!!

The sound sounds very wrong on this Firecore. The pitch is way off compared to a real console, or even a decent emulator. It's a real shame, actually. Was expecting more of this.

Agreed, listening to the intro to Sonic 2, which has been burned into my brain, it is way off. It's almost as if certain sounds have been replaced with ones that kind of sound similar but don't. I'll stick with my s-video modded Genesis. :)

no that's not the system. i recently did a review of games on sonic mega collection for the gamecube and it jacked the sound up bad

@RichterEX2 Yep, I wish someone would just make a Genesis device with DECENT sound! It can't be that hard, surely - 20 years later?!? It pisses me off - they go to the effort of making a machine that plays all regions at 60hz and then mess the sound up!!
