The max power that puts out is 240 horsepower, and an H22a1 prelude puts out 190, and it's not even supercharged or turbocharged. And if no stock honda will stand a chance, then what about the NSX or the HSC, or the HSV, or the Civic type RR, or the HSV-010gt, or the Accord coupe v8 type R? BTW- a 2000 Honda Prelude stock goes 0-60 in 6.5, same as a 2000 S/C GA.

I agree. a 135hp base model prelude is pretty slow. Its the same engine as an accord. h22 preludes are pretty quick for what they are. This model of prelude is very very slow.
Well, I guess it's because Grand Am's performance parts aren't too popular in demand like Honda's.. Most tuners out there are all into imports and I can only think ithat's because they're cheaper and probably even easier or something..

the 3400 isn't that great of an engine in stock form actually...only 175HP and 200 ft lbs of torque. i saw some guys boost them and they do 0-60 in like 4.5 secs. my GAGT gets to 60 in under 8 seconds barely. I blame the 4 speed automatic. It needs another gear definately to help aceleration.

The old 96, 2900pnds with the optional 3.60 something ratio, rare to find, you usually have to order the option specifically, anyway ,it had a decent 0-60 for the year, about 7.0 seconds flat. Only available in 3100 GT. With better traction they could get a much better 0-60, I used to own one, spin all day lol.

I have a prelude just like you and I did the same i blew it up but I change it from f22a1 to f22a6 with a h22 head that thing is fast. but automatic trans is kind of faster at first but after the prelude get the 3 gear fotget it dude is gone.. good luck on your lude dude are nice cars..@wakeboardingguy6

its starting to pull because of those 2 extra cylnders firing :)
the 3400 isn't that great of an engine in stock form actually...only 175HP and 200 ft lbs of torque. i saw some guys boost them and they do 0-60 in like 4.5 secs. my GAGT gets to 60 in under 8 seconds barely. I blame the 4 speed automatic. It needs another gear definately to help aceleration.

really? i thought it'd be the opposite since the 3100 was around longer. yeah the 3400 market isn't big either. no actual good kits you can buy for boosting. it has to be all custom.
i saw a guy take a tranny from a G6 and put it in a grand am gt. 6 speed manual. i'm sure it gets to 60 alot quicker with it.

i don't understand why there isn't alot of parts for those 60 degree V6s. GM used the 3100 and 3400 across alot of manufactuers like buick, oldsmobile, chevy....
you would think there would be a ton of performance parts for them. but only in this world where civics have more aftermarket than GM.
oh yeah about that G6 tranny, go to grand am gt . com ( without the spaces of course ) and go under how to section and there is an entire step by step process this guy did. pretty sweet

Its funny how people keep talking soo much trash about american cars just by watching this video, its just sad... About this video, that prelude launched bout a quarter-sec before the GA and the lude being stick-shift obviously caught up and BARELY passed the auto GA, when this happend the GA lets go of the gas just when he's neck and neck with the lude in both runs =/

OMG i miss my grand AM it had 130k miles on it and ran great got her for 900 bux but she burned on me :( she was the white 4 cylinder from 98. It got me into pontiacs I now drive a 2000 pontiac bonneville SLE with 198 almost 199k miles and it runs as good as new cept for the bad shocks in the back ima change em soon ^.^ still i love the granny grand am best first car.

The old 96, 2900pnds with the optional 3.60 something ratio, rare to find, you usually have to order the option specifically, anyway ,it had a decent 0-60 for the year, about 7.0 seconds flat. Only available in 3100 GT. With better traction they could get a much better 0-60, I used to own one, spin all day lol.
