well the only thing daniel could really beat was a bluff. If the 4 flush out there theres no way that todd would be betting anything less that an ace high flush (which daniel has covered) and hoping to get called. it would be weird for him to bet king high flush because it only beats a 10 of spades which probably couldnt call.
this has nothing to do with the hand so sorry about that -- but what is the opening song-- i recognise the chords from a scene in the fight club but its not in the soundtrack---would appreciate it-- p.s. excellent river bet
I like the way Daniel is clearly pissed about losing. He tries not to show it, but it bugs him, lol. It was the play, but even then, we all lose sometimes.
Daniel has made so many bad calls on high stakes poker, with 100 000 to 500 000 dollars, and he does not call 21 000 with the nut flush, only to shine with his readings. I dont get it.
that was a dumb fold no matter how you look at it. you dont fold a nut flush unless its something like 2 pairs on the board which would give a one card full house draw.
attention guys. don't try this on fish, beginners, donkey players. actually that is a laydown that only good players do. a bad laydown here, bad only good players would do that.
J5, 55, and JJ were the only hands that couldve made daniel lose right? gonna be honest, i wouldve done what @edify88 said and raised alot hahaha. not saying im better than daniel just saying he's right. im a beginner im betting with an ace high flush lol
@marshallbrooks1 We dont factor in hands like 95 and J5 because it's highly unlikely anybody is going to play those, besides farha who is just being fancy. You dont assume someone could have any possible hand that beats yours just because there are technically better combinations out there.
@marshallbrooks1 If you raise on a 4-flush board, what exactly did you think is going to call you? Lets pretend Todd has the King of spades. You really think it's going to be hard for him to figure out his flush is no good if he gets RAISED holding the 2nd nut flush against two other players?
What happens if you raise your flush and Todd goes allin? The board is paired. You think he's crazy enough to shove a complete bluff vs your obvious flush?
I've never played poker, and know virtually nothing about it, but I have a question. I thought "The Nuts" meant that your hand is such that you can look at the board and know you can't be beaten, no matter what anybody else has in their hand.
In this video, if T.Brunson could theoretically have had pocket 5s, which I assume would mean that a spade flush was not technically "The Nuts", since there was the possibility of a superior hand.
Am I incorrect about my understanding of this term?
@IgnatzKolisch 'the nuts' term i think means the best, eg. player 1: Ac Kc, Player 2: As 7s, Flop: Ks Qs Js, Turn: Ad, River:Kh. so in this scenario player 2 has 'the nut' flush but player 1 has 'the nuts' (with a fullhouse) hopefully i explained it so you understand.
@IgnatzKolisch "The nuts" is a hand that cannot possibly be beat given the board, but the "nut flush" is a flush that cannot be beat by another flush, so the nut flush is not the nuts if the board is paired or if a straight flush is possible, but it's still called the nut flush. Slightly confusing, I know.
I really appreciate the explanation! It does make sense after you laid it out for me, I just wasn't aware of the nuance between the two prior to your response. Now I'm guessing that I know why "absolute nuts" is used sometimes.
WARNING!! this kind of play from todd is genius! HOWEVER if u do that to beginner, they will reraise all in u in less than 1 second! so viewer discretion is advised!
not genius play - ... daniel just leveled himself into making a bad desicion. tod was not representing a fullhouse, the 4card flush draw is much more effective to get ur opponent to fold and therefore to bluff.
i bet tod is a tight player but i cant see how u could possibly check-fold the nut flush given the river action
@edify88 This is pretty crazy. Negreanu is a super station but he did play it like he could have wanted him to get there with a boat the whole time. Pocket jacks could've certainly slowplayed.
If Fulltilt isn’t fukin fixed I don’t know what is . Lost over $15k on there this year. Been playing real “webcam poker “ on pokerview and been cashing out money man. How can you explain that???
if Farha wasn't in the hand then Todd wouldn't have been able to play it like that....Farha took the attention away and it made Daniel think Todd was allowing Farha to hang himself!
It doesnt make sense to daniel because todd played the hand like either a full house or the ace of spades, and since he has the ace of spades todd betting seems so strong.
This isnt a low level game where todd calls that 10k on the turn drawing to the king high flush.
Personally i think if that hand is played that exact same way 10 times todd probably has a full house 8/10 times in that spot.
@nybombs regardless of whether its a cash game or a tournament the play still means the same thing. Not paying people off doesnt make me a nit it just means that im aware of the possibility that sometimes other people make big hands too.
@hockeyislife67 you don't play ring games do you? A king high, or even a queen high flush would have made a value bet on the river, especially when Daniel has checked to you. If daniel had bet AND THEN brunson had raised, then the fold is possible. This is a standard check/call, but if Daniel had bet out, it would have resulted in more expected value
@nybombs i disagree, i think your only getting called by better hands or check raised if you try a valuebet there with a king. Some people may do it, but todd definitely isnt the type to throw in thin value bets. Obviously in low level games u can value bet the king no problem cause people pay you off with like the 8 of spades but at this level anything other than the ace of spades or a full house is checking in todds spot.
@hockeyislife67 lol.... what game do you play? I play in 100NL, and it's standard to value bet with K of spades... You would never win in cash games always thinking about there could be other possible nuts
(1) why did Brunson call on the turn? It was such a risk to represent a FH because there are 2 players ahead of him that could easily have it.
(2) Why did Negreanu check on the river? He obviously had alarm bells ringing from Brunson's call on the turn, but it was such a weak play for a strong hand.
(3) why did Negreanu fold on the river? He always calls down on the river on TV cash games!
@BlaBlaidc Todd Brunson is no donk....these are the kinds of tricky plays these guys pull off against each other. When the turn hits, there's only 5k in the pot. Farha bets TEN THOUSAND - twice the pot !!! Negreanu calls cause he knows Sammy is usually full of crap or he could catch an ace and get paid by Sammy's 555. But when Todd also calls on the turn, that set off alarm bells in Negreanu's head, and rightly so. How could Todd over call a double pot bet unless he has a monster? Great play.
