That is NOT the proper way to open a butterfly knife. A REAL butterfly knife has two VERY sharp edges, you do not want to let it "rest" on your index finger. The knife is called "Butterfly" because you're supposed to keep your speed, not stopping or letting the blade lay/rest on anything.

Yes, It is illegal to have in California. It is illegal due to it being considered a concealed weapon. It is illegal if over 2 inches. or 2.5inches...I can't remember exactly. They say that only if the handles has holes in them to reveal the knife as well as being under 2.5inches or 2 inches is where it's ok. But yea, I got one here in CA and mines like 3.5 inches and handles don't have no holes in them so illegal ~_~ Still play with them though... but never carry it with me...

I know a site that you can get a pretty good Trainers Balisong. It a $10 Trainers, but it's actually pretty good. Go to brassknucklescompany(.)com. And if you do get one from their, I suggest buying some better screws for the Pivots. The ones that come with it are soft metal. It's a $10 Trainer, so it's not the best by far. But some good screws will make it last a long while.

@Vegeta744 Stlye might be a unique way to open it, but if you open and close a butterfly knife in the wrong way, you can seriously injure yourself. I met an actual professional handler, one who has used butterfly knives in combat for 20 years in the Philippines. He could take four butterfly knives and open them at the same time. He told me that the best way is having the dull end, which was in this video, face away from your fingers so you can't get cut. He had lost his pinky learning that.

If you hold the dull end (safe handle) doing a rollover, you'll cut yourself. Some tricks call for holding the bite handle (sharp end). So I return to my point on the comment I made TWO YEARS AGO, (Why did you even reply to this?), It's all about PREFERENCE AND STYLE.

tighten them then put some super glue on them man it will hold them in place..and also if you ever need to take the glue off just use nail polish remover and it will take it right off..it might take off the paint as well so just a warning lol

A Realy good advantage is that a butterfly knife is one of the very few knives that folds, were it is virtually impossible for the lock to fail, since the handles are the lock. unlike switchblades or lockblades where locks have failed and could cause you to hurt yourself.

Well, The butterfly knives are extremely useful for self defense. You can quickdraw a butterfly knife just as fast as a switchblade if you're good enough, Most people don't know what butterfly knives are so they have to take a moment to look at it to know it's a weapon, Stabs and slashes are painfull, And if you throw them then they've bassicly got a 1 in 3 chance of getting shanked in the eye, Whereas the other two will sting like HELL.
