  • i dont mean to be rude but if i just use those staplers , wouldnt the fabric get torn easily?

  • I would not be using this "technique" on an antique chair - this is a drop in seat and the seat should be stripped back to what was there and restored/ updated sympathetically - I would not be happy with this very untidy finish.

  • So helpful, thank you!

  • she's got nice boobies

  • I like that you reused the old seat, where most tutorials just yank the whole thing to the bone. It seems like the old cushion would give you the effect of a much firmer cushion underneath the foam you've glued to it.

I had always heard that you DON'T want to staple directly where you've pulled the fabric, because it will pull from the staple. What are your thoughts on this?

  • what material is best for covering the seat cushion....i wish i could master the corner folds..its the skill mostly needed here.

  • Don't need to glue the foam, can do, pva will take a few more hours to dry then that, staples could be more heavy duty although that was sufficent what you did there, material could be thinner for a smoother finish round the edges, maybe also the foam could be thinner, but I think thinner material would do the trick to smooth out those jagged edges, although thanks for the the vid!! Really nice!! very very well presented.

  • @puchculi I know I said thinner material, what I should have said is softer, that material was rather stiff, hense the other comment not far below about it looking sloppy, not its a great improvement on any chair that condition, but softer material will adhere to the shape of seat better

  • @puchculi raaa sorry about my typos, being very lazy and not re checking :P

  • I am soooooo gonna do this!!!! very inexpensive and easy! thank you

  • If my seat covering looks that sloppy when I get done I would either start over or throw it out.

  • @jampitts

    I'd throw your mom out...

  • @youbetterbelievehah Yeah but you're an idiot so, inconsequencial.

  • great video, thank you very much!

  • I just followed step by step with a couple of old chairs I got from Craigslist. They look better already! Thanks for such a helpful tutorial!

  • @gwjarvinen

Yeah I'm wondering the same thing.

  • Many thanks for the video. Will use the method this weekend. Also, you are one very hot lady! (Hope this doesn't sound to pervy), but your voice was very sexy too. Best wishes. Ian

  • @woodbine66 it does sound very pervy, good job.

  • That is what Kiwis call "ruff as guts"

  • Thank you, very helpful! Your fabric is chic!

  • I love your top!

  • I'm nervous about using the glue and the staples. I have solid oak chairs with no upholstery on the seats, just the wooden seat. But they are so uncomfortable to sit in and the cushions I bought don't stay put when my young children are crawling in and out of the chair. That's why I thought about upholstering the seats. I guess I need to make the decision to do it and commit. I'm just concerned about damaging the oak seats with glue and staples.

  • Very great I love the pattern

  • REALLY HELPFUL. I JUS GOT A JOB DOING THIS PIECE WORK. THANKS!

  • too many staples for a gaunt figure, but just right for her build. get it?

  • YEEZY REUPHOLSTERED CHAIR

  • 3 staples on each corner unless your using that particular stapler then you may want you use about 42 :D

  • This is very helpful and well done. Thank you for posting.

  • What happened to taking off the old cover? and doing a proper job oif it . this will not have any durability

  • Not very good im afraid, where's the dacron??

  • blind leading the blind come on

  • Comment removed

  • how abouwt that ehh

  • You should look at the top while you are doing it so the sides don't look lumpy. If you look at the end result it isn't very smooth

  • thank you. just found this when I was looking for some help with some dining room chairs. this was helpful.

  • Have done a few chairs and its been great fun. Last year my wife and I got a pair of 1930's cinema chairs from an old theatre that was renovating. I took about 9 layers of paint off them (including some 80 year old chewing gun) and stripped them down to bare metal, then repainted...(about 50 hours). Might redo the backs of the chairs, but will have the chair cowlings redone professionally.....wish me luck.

  • Thanks for making this video...you're staple gun kinda sucked though....I recommend something that takes T-50 for furniture upholstery..... 5/16 or 8mm.

  • Not a great job!

  • could you do this for computer chairs as well?

  • ok i'll get a cam and show you how it should be done may be a while as some of us do work .

croney100 she has no technique at all and i did not say that she was a piece of meat that is what is in your head not mine. and i did not go to the Royal Guild of Upholsterers i was trained on the job not from a book.

  • don't give up the day job you have not got a clue

  • @Masterupholsterer Thanks, but we can't all be "master upholsterers", believe it or not some of us have lives beyond stapling fabric to furniture.

  • @Masterupholsterer I love how you haven't posted a single instructional video, yet you watch everybody elses video and insult them. Go buy a flipcam and show us how it's done, Lord of Upholstery.

  • am totaly going to do this to my chairs. the sitting is really dirty and they need a new style. :)

  • An excellent video. Thank You so much for the instructions.

  • very informative and helpful. Thank you for your easy to follow video and instructions. i have an executive computer chair to reupholster, this has given me enough of an idea for me to start. Fingers xd it will turn out half as good as yours !!

  • I''m glad that I viewed this vid. I thought I was doing something wrong. Now looking at this vid I did everything right. I am in the process of reupholstering my dining chairs. I have 2 kids and a husband. For some reason my chairs can not stay clean. So I am changing them to the vinyl covering so I can keep nice and clean chairs. Thanks again for the vid.

  • Thank you for posting. Cute and colorful material.

  • all i can say is NEVER but a new cover on top of ur old 1 thts lyk number 1 rule in the upholstery world strip the chair down it takes 2 mins also its not hw dense the form is to how long u get out of it its about the latexs in it and i wud recommend a spray glue

next put a centre staple in each side then pul the corners staple in each corner and then work to the middle and u cud cut alot more out of the corners as well and then it wud fit in the seat nicer :)

  • love it.. thanks

  • what type of fabric is best for this? my chairs will be in the kitchen so i want something durable and easy to clean

  • Sorry just have to laugh, you dont have a clue about what your doing, but you are very pretty.

  • @croney100 She doesn't have a clue? You mean her technique is different than the technique used by the Royal Guild of Upholsterers? Oh wait, there is no such guild, because it's stapling fabric to wood, which she did fine. Sorry if it's not professional grade. Thanks for throwing in condescension to insult by letting her know she's not only bad at upholstering, but also letting her know that you have decided you would be willing to have sex with her, since she is a piece of meat.

  • that is awesome!! I did my kitchen chairs about 4 years ago. I have a question though - Do you know the best way to reupholster a older couch?

  • I just did a vanity bench and watched your video first for guidance. I didn't need to replace the foam, I just wanted to change the material so I went right over the old foam and material and it worked out just fine. Thanks!

  • wow! this is an incorrect way to reupholster a chair but I guess it works for some.

  • Thank you very much!

  • Great video! Thanks!

  • very helpful video. Im planning to make my own dining set and im wondering how the whole the upholstery works...

    thanks!

  • This is a very helpful video. We have many customers that call us up and ask how to reupholster their chairs. Now I have somewhere great to send them.

  • worst corner job ever. sorry (

  • And you are so unbelievably hot I forgot about the chair.

  • @zurriagazo71 what? r we watching the same video?

  • Fantastic! I have put off reuphostering my dining room chairs for years, because I thought it would be too challenging. After watching your video (and purchasing materials), I completed the task in just iof couple of hours (all six chairs)! Thank you soooo much!

  • Excellent vid. Great explanation

  • Great Job! If you dont like it then get a professional to do it. We do them for $35 a chair! Johnnys Custom upholstery Valley Stream NY

  • i agree!

  • @dmrballer10 that's because opinions are like A-Holes....everyone has one!

  • its her chair. she dont need to be professional.

  • no i said that's her chair. that's her life. if she wants to get asthma or food poisoning, i dont care that's her chair she can do anything she wants with it, she can even upload a video about it.

PS: cooties dont exist. grow up. moron.

  • tanks

  • I hope you didn't read the comment by 1947nanook.

  • She did not go around the corners the correct way and the fabric is all gathered and overlapping - it should be smooth

  • thanks for your video;

    very useful;

    I bought many old chairs in order to furnish a restaurant I am opening;

    I now feel confident about upholstering;

    cheers, Jean-Pierre

  • think you it works :)

  • hi but i must say it you ary a noop and you cant upholstery anything thats ist unposible what you have show us

  • I was searching for how to videos. But when I saw this one, the only thing I could think of is...what a beautiful cougar!

  • Great video!

  • Awesome, I have an old chair I've been wanting to do something like this to! Thanks for the video

  • hey thanks. just what I needed to see.. I'll be reupholstering a new set of chairs tomorrow.

  • your staple gun isnt very good

  • No, you are right, it totally sucked!!

  • i agree

  • What stores would be best to buy the foam from? I seen places were you can order online, but I'm not trying to deal with shipping and handling.

  • I bought the foam from a store called 'the foam shop' (go figure). You should be able to find either a fabric store, craft store or specifically store that sells foam without having to order it online. I would google 'foam stores' in your area.

  • what type of shops sell staple guns??

  • Any hardware store will sell staple guns, you do not need a big industrial one! katie

  • Thank you for posting this! I have no sewing skills whatsoever so I thought this type of project was off limits to me.

  • You are welcome rbelbin78, it is really quite easy! Katie

  • In sam old chairs there are springr under the seat what can i do? Can i replace it whith sam other material?

  • With A Friend! An old Ed Gein joke!!!

  • jillz i think u r a dafty aswell :P

  • show the yt wer ye pish fae?

  • u r a dafty!

  • Thank you for posting this. I cut my fabric too close on my first attempt (silly me). A chest seat is a little more difficult than a chair seat (for me). Really wanted to see how you did the corners.

  • You are welcome Ardynas1, thank you for watching. Katie

  • what kind of material can you use,i have 2 cats.lol.and they are hard on the backs of the chairs,i lovve your video, very helpful

  • Thanks brawyn777, any sturdy, non stretch, fabric will work. I often purchase upholstery fabric because it wears well. Thx katie

  • Thanks AceLockCo, I did do it myself, and I think it looks pretty good. I would be happy and open to see your video and version of reupholstering because clearly, I am not a professional. Cheers, Katie

  • Is the 1" foam usually thick enough?

  • Hi mcphilliy20, the 1" foam is thick enough but make sure that it is the dense foam. Thx for watching, katie

  • thanks that waS EASY

  • your are welcome Dianaanton! Thanks for watching, Katie

  • Does the foam have to be at the same size as the cushion or a little bit bigger?

  • hi juliasarai, The foam can be the same size but it is fine if it is slightly bigger ... the material will pull it down when you staple it to the underside. Thx for watching, Katie

  • Thanks Kathy....this is the best& easiest video I've viewed and have done it with my 4 cushions. Am proud I did them within 1 and half hours. Thanks very much. Angela from Singapore

  • Thanks Angela for watching and commenting, it really is easy and quick to do! Cheers, Katie

  • I was interested to see that the foam was glued down. I might not have thought of that.

  • fabulous! next old nice chair I see is mine to be re-upolstered
