  • there was no lock out. in a competition this would not be a legal lift. but i commend you sir. dayum fine attempt!

  • Despite the lack of locking out the elbows, it was still an impressive lift. As a competive lifter, I respect all lifters and the respective lifts. You have to give Larry credit for just handling that much weight let alone lifting it. As a 49 year old guy myself who competes in bench pressing, Larry's 210 and upper 40's and lifting heavy. Most guys our age are just sitting on the couch eating chips, complaining and telling stories how good they were when they were younger. Good job Larry !!

  • Great power.

  • I wander if this guys natural or juicen. Hard to tell but I'ma go with natural because he is toned as shit and big muscles but not so toned and he just looks that way from years and years of training. Plus he does bench 700+.

  • @RippednNTan Are you serious? LOL

He almost benched over 700lbs, he's been juicing years....FACT.

Plus a lot of hard training and diet i would assume..

  • who the fuck suicide grips with 725 pounds if that shit fell it would decapitate him

  • i do 8 sets of bench press every other day and 4 sets of 70 push ups every night, is that overtraining?

  • @JabesNRP yeahh and ur not letting ur other muscle groups get worked out to it's pontetion because you have to worry about lower body, shoulders, abs, back, biceps, triceps, etc and that mush chest training can actually hurt you more than help because ur working chest every other day,and it will be harder for you to focus on other body parts, and it's not good ti cram everything in one session,so id do chest once a week but him em hard and the other days work other muscles,

  • Despite spotter assistance and the lack of locking out the elbows, it was still an impressive lift.

  • @6second2004gto Ahh I gotcha. I think it's impressive either way.

  • i dont care if that damn spotter is lifting over a hundred pounds of that weight (which he obviously isnt) that would still leave about 625 to be lifted by a 200 pound man. as shitty of a spot as it was, thats still an amazing feat. 3x bodyweight. im impressed.o and by the way, scott mendelson has 65 pounds on this guy. not saying hes even close to scott just saying

  • it's cus he's listening to the killers

  • Well the bar bent, the guy struggled, I've seen three fakes before this and one real competition lift video and I actually heard the sound of the weights as he set it down. I'm inclined to believe that this one is actually real and I give this guy props.

  • i think this guy did amazing doubt you could do it

  • Although Scott did 10 pounds less, he did his 715 pound bench press way better than this guy.

  • he didnt actually bench that, the spotter helped him the whole time... still very impressive though

  • I would say no lift because the spotters hands never left the bar. But I give u props for trying

  • what's with all the dislikes? I thought it was a good video...

  • no lift!

  • this doesn't look real, a 45 lb bar would bend like crazy with that much weight on it, either his spotters are lifting it, or some of the weights are empty

  • holy shit that's crazy weight. ! at 49yrs old that's unheard of. some guys are just built for the benching. and he is only 210 .scientifically he is a super natural human. great lift!

  • @thefanaticx every bar weighs 45 lbs

  • @xbatman1x No actually there are bars that weigh 65 lbs....

  • @xbatman1x Actually there are bars that weugh 65 lbs.....

  • lol

  • Incredible power!

  • @bonzihunter

    lol- i like yer moxy!

  • @thefanaticx wada u fucking retarded of course the bar is 45 pounds

  • i thought the raw record was 715?

  • @thefanaticx why wouldn't the bar weigh 45 pounds? thats standard Olympic bar weight

  • that was crazy man you did that with ease you could have done that for several reps post a new video go for 800 raw with 4 spotters

  • Let's end all suspicions. This is a dynamic lift but no where near 725 raw. RAW would mean that his spotters only guided the bar, not lift it up for him and he would not have elbow straps. Again, impressive lift, but with those 3 guys tugging on the bar, it was probably closer to 665 than 725. Want proof? The next time u r under 350, have ur spotter place one finger under the bar and lift up, it takes about 25lbs off the bar automatically.

  • can't people just give a 49 year old guy who just moved this amount of weight some props without having to add critique.

  • People on here amaze me.

First of all, the standard bar weight is EXACTLY 45 pounds.

Secondly, this video doesnt show him during contest, so he doesnt have to go by every regulation.

Thirdly, none of you will ever even come close to benching this much weight. There is a vast difference between a bodybuilder( which none of you likely are either) and a powerlifter.

  • @tatemansfeet

    Well said, well said.

  • @tatemansfeet And some folks offend me.

First, not to split hairs, but the 'standard' olympic bar is 20KG - we round up to 45.

Second, plenty of people post 'gym lifts' but particular rules or not at least they are LIFTING the weights within acceptable limits without three guys helping.

Third, you're right. And neither will Larry. Wrapped elbows, super-soft hand-off, 2/3 of the lift, 8 hands on bar? He's probably good for 450, which is STILL damn good IMO, but he should just have shown us that

  • @thefanaticx The bar does weigh 45 lbs you idiot.

  • @thefanaticx You think they're going to use a 15lb bar to hold up that much weight? It'd snap in a second. Of course the bar weighs 45lbs.

  • @thefanaticx most bench bars weigh 45 pounds?

  • @jacobxtyler1

Yes. MOST do. There are a couple of specialty bench bars that are 50. The most common power bars are the Jesup and ordinary Texas bars which are 45, but for example Iron Wolfe's bench bar is 50.

  • Nice lift. Very impressive. Check out my video of me power squating 1000+ pounds. Let me know what you think. Keep up the good work. Train insane.

  • tremdous amount of weight, HOWEVER, he did not lock it out. plus he had elbow, and, wrist wraps. RAW means NOTHING TO ASSIST OR SUPPORT. PERIOD.

  • @ger1mon some raw feds allow wrist wraps because they don't add to the amount of weight you can press like a bench shirt does, but yeah none allow elbow wraps, im just getting into competitive raw bench pressing and its awesome i gotta say

  • @benchfordeath I have never used elbow sleeves personally, it sounds like you have, do they really help you press more weight? I have heard some say yes and some no, whats your take if you wouldnt mind?

  • @thefanaticx Every real bar weighs 45 pounds dumb fuck, tell you never been to a gym

  • @Schuust No they do not you dumb shit. 65 pound bars do exist. I have 5 in my gym. Come use one you pussy

  • @Schuust And I can tell you have never been to anything but generic 'fitness-style' gyms or if that offends your pretense of being hardcore, 'bodybuilding' gym. Examples: Olympic 'Technique' bars are 5 and 10kg. "Ladies' Bars" in Oly-lifting are 15kg. Texas squat bars are 25kg. Iron-Wolfe Bench bar is 50lbs, EliteFTS Mastodon is 60, the thick NY Barbell Mad-Dog bar is 70. The Sorinex Blue-Whale squat bar is 65. Shall I go on, Mr. I-only-read-Musclemag-and-know-nothing-about-REAL-strength-sports?

  • @Schuust Oh wait - sorry - you are responding to some dumbass post about the bar weighing nothing. My bad. Ok. Nonetheless bars used by REAL lifters, not gym rats in an ordinary gym, have a variety of weights. Also, to be sure, a "standard" olympic bar is technically 44 lbs (i.e. 20kg) since originally an "Olympic" bar is what was used in OLYMPIC WEIGHTLIFTING. You tend not to notice the 1 lb either way though so that is somewhat moot.

  • No wait those spotters could lift the weight off his chest if he misses. Good lift maybe not really 700+ bench press tho.

  • this guy is clearly a monster, but i would like to see him perform this lift in competition where all the variables can be monitored by the discerning eyes of the judges and handlers before i take down mendy from his sacred position as my personal bench press idol.If Larry can duplicate this feat at a sanctioned meet he will be famous in the powerlifting community, and rightfully so!

  • if i was attempting 725lbs in your normal everyday gym i wouldnt want the spotters to really take their hands off the bar. just sayin, safety first...

  • @thefanaticx well no shit that's what standard bench press bars weigh you dunce!

  • @Ian7570 no shit three people touching the bar...prolly more like 625...if hes lucky nevertheless still very impressive

  • he didn't extend his arms and always had someone touching the bar, so it's not a 100% legal bench, but it's still nuts heavy. I'd be more impressed seeing 500lbs. go up for some unaided reps.

p.s. - I only bench 185 for reps now that I switched to studying martial arts - I find too much muscle mass slows me down and makes me less effective.

  • @thefanaticx

Yes the bar is 45lbs plus 7-45'seach side and 1-25 each side adding up to 725

  • the 220# raw bench record is owned by Mike Macdonald, who benched 585 in 5/19/79

  • if i was the guy on the bench i would be like TAKE YOUR HANDS OFF THE BAR !! I WILL SAY WHEN I NEED HELP !!

  • uh ya i only see 675 on there, might be some smaller weights there tho

  • Ya theres 7- 45's and 1-25 each side makin it even 725 bro

  • eh..

  • Can you get another better video man? I don't want to write this off, but the quality is too bad to tell any sort of legitimacy.

  • all you man, all you!

  • If thats for real thats insain, idk though. a 49 year old man hitting the world record for raw bench. why have I not heard of this guy?

  • holyyy shitt

  • Good lift, can't beat Sustenon for breakfast

  • Definitely impressive, but neither raw nor a complete rep. VERY IMPRESSIVE FOR 49

  • @RogaJam

    how much can you do???

  • hes tiny HUGE bench thoo lol

  • Lets see you do it just like that at 49 years old.

  • Holy fuck thats all i can say

  • Comment removed

  • oh come on its 725 like any of u pussies can get close hes fucking strong i find this impressive

  • I dont think people read that this guy is 49 YEARS OLD.

  • Either way he's a strong guy. But this is not a competition lift. he didn't start locked out, didn"t finish locked out, didna't pause (bar motionless) and he had some help. plus it only looks like 675. good gym lift but not a world record

  • this is a great lift but it certainly is assisted. Yeah I agree, nowhere near Mendhelson. I am nowhwere near this cat though, as I am close to 500lbs but not there yet. Next month I hope to be there!!!

  • looks assisted,good attempt though

  • His 'lift' is impressive in its own right but in no way beats Mendelson's record. While some federations differ in opinion of RAW (AFAIK two allow light wrist wraps, the rest do not), NONE of them allow elbow wraps AT ALL, or let you unrack and immediately drop it to your chest, with three spotters holding on to the bar the whole way, then begin the press a few inches high with no pause, then dump it onto the uprights 2/3rds of the way up. He's a VERY strong guy, but nowhere near Mendy's class.

  • Comment removed

  • @Zoidypoo89 This is true but not really relevant. Of the 50-some-odd lifters who have benched 600+ officially, literally only a couple have done them in a drug-tested federation. Also, I know plenty of people who have been using for years who practice bench press and their numbers are like 315X12 or so. Drug use does not create superhuman lifts. Not even drug use PLUS hard, diligent training will guarantee this. World-class strength requires that dedication, AND genetics, AND talent as well.

  • Comment removed

  • @Zoidypoo89 haha thanks for noting that the IPF is drug-tested and 'converting' the kg's for me (equally revealing news that I learned today: we live on a planet called 'earth') ;)...So I assume you mean Brian Siders, who is definitely a genetic strength freak. I DO know some USAPL/ADFPF guys who flirt with test-suspension a bit here and there, though agreed that's a far cry from the uninhibited drug use allowed in the multi-ply WPC-style feds (APF, UPA, APC, APA, etc).

  • Comment removed

  • @Zoidypoo89 Let me guess - Is he from Bullfarm? The great gym that beat us at Jakked Hardcore by FOUR VOTES for powerlifting gym of the year? HAHA Probably. Hats off to them.

Also, the world record as far as I know belongs to a Japanese guy in Bench Only - is Smulter a 125Kg guy?

  • @Zoidypoo89 Also, belly benching is not as useful for Raw lifters. It's the open-backed multi-ply shirts that get the carryover from belly-benching, and the groove of the shirt kind of forces you there anyway. Raw benching like that isn't really feasible unless you have a prominent gut below your xyphoid (Siders can do it, with a bounce!).

Watching Mendy bench raw, he doesn't belly bench. Anyway, the original point was that Mendy was assisted. Ok..325kg is still the world record, drug use or not

  • Comment removed

  • @Zoidypoo89 actually no he isnt and never has

  • @dmccarron0 He kinda is, I mean the dudes in his 50's and he can bench more than any young person. He benched more than mendy no matter what you say, they are in the same class. Although mendy might be at 750 raw when he hits this dude's age.

  • if the bar aint bending your just pretending
