This talent of Dudley's is new to me; I knew only his comedy, which was brilliant. The Wiki on him is a very good background showing his triumph over adversity. Thank you Dudley!
I owned two Dud trio albums once. Genuine Dud and I can't remember the other but I loved them. They were my first foray into blues and jazz. I miss them and thank you for this upload.
These three were just a superb trio: the connection between the musicians was always wonderful to see and hear. Just such a pity Dud chose to focus on making crappy American movies instead of his jazz.
The first recording I ever heard of Dudley Moores piano playing was "My Blue Heaven". I have been hooked on Dudley Moore's recording ever since. Such beautiful and tasteful playing.
@UnofficialPixMan oh i'm so sorry. you're uncle was a great bass player. if you don't mind me asking, how did he die? there just isn't that much information on him.
@1979saxman Thanks - he can be heard with Dudley, with Sounds Orchestral, on the Hamlet ad, as a session musician on many 60's songs, inc Cilla Black & Dusty Springfield singles, and Englebert's Release Me. Sadly, he committed suicide in June '68 after he came home and found a lot of notes left all round the house by a Danish girlfriend, saying ''I don't love you".......he took a load of pills and called his brother to say he was dying - they could not reach him in time. A great loss to all.
I used to love wathcing the "mad" drummer in the Dudley Moore Trio when this stuff went out live in the 60's.
I suppose "animal" from the Muppets is the ultimate development of the style, via that Moon guy in The Who. All relatively low-key here in comparison, but still fun to watch.
As a pianist with perhaps 1% of Dudley's talent, I cannot imagine how terrible it must have been for him to lose the ability to play later in life.
Dudley "entre" dans son impro avec la puissance d'Oscar. Excellent swing!

@UnofficialPixMan Maybe you could write a Wikipedia page, because there isn't too much information on the net about him.

Dudley Moore has the perfect balance of playing relaxed solos, yet making them still interesting enough to keep an audiences attention. Amazing!
