  • We have a long road ahead, yes, that is true. But every journey begins with the first step. The "rainbow" nation has has taken its first steps. We have seen the lows, just wait and see what highs we can acheive.... The road is long but we are on our way, we have despaired but never given up, for it is our spirit that makes us who we are-- South Africans.

  • ja jullie waren van ons :P

  • HOLY, holy, holy, LORD GOD ALMIGHTY, which was, and is, and is to come.rev;4;8. thank YOU JESUS. AMEN.

  • This is by far the best video I have ever seen about SA. It acknoledges the bad past and the challenges our country faces. You made me cry. Thank you so much! No matter what anyone says, SA has potential to be one of the greatest countries in the whole world. If people can stop feeling sorry for themselves and understand that issues of crime affect every South African, and that not every black person agrees with JZ nor all white people with racism. Privilage clouds judgement!

  • When have we ever said that crime does not affect everyone? And 80% of black people agreed with JZ, thereby making a disgrace of SA and its people. How are we supposed to be proudly South African when SA voted a president like JZ?

And if there is any racism in SA its against white people, with BEE, Affirmative Action, etc.

  • In future, if you ever respond to anything I write, you will be careful of bringing unsubstantiated facts, fuelled by ignorance and a sense of entitlement to the fore. Who is 'we'? Where do you get your facts about 80% of black SA supporting JZ, and what if they agree with him? There certainly have been a few welcome surprises from him. Finally, if you think affirmative action is racism, then you are more deluded than I thought. Stop terrorising people, dont you have anything better to do!

  • By 'we' I mean people that find crime in SA unacceptable. And that 80% comes from very realistic assumptions, if we assume almost all ANC supporters are black, and ANC got 65% of the vote, and 80% of the country is black, then 65/80 = 80%. Therefore 80% of black people agree with JZ.

And there have been no 'welcome surprises' from him. 2ndly, i dont care, no prisoner has a chance to cancel out their bad deeds, so why should JZ be given the chance?

And AA is racism, rather have a pro-poor policy

  • How about 80% agree with ANC policies, but not Zuma. Unlike the US, u cannot vote a person into power, but a party (based on their policies and vision)

Afirmative Action - It took more than 300years of crafting and practising apartheid in South Africa, it surely wont take 15yrs to fix all that. I really feel for white people in this country and understand their frustrations concerning BEE and AA.....but 'unfortunately' it has to be done to correct the inbalances of the past.

  • Actually they did vote Zuma into power, he alone has the power to do many things and wont need even hos parties permission to do so, eg presidential pardons, political appointments

  • No....u are wrong.

He has to consult for EVERYTHING that he does, thats why he has advisers. Every decision that he makes, is a mandate from "his" party.

Thabo Mbeki was kicked out of the presidency cos he wanted to question and defy instructions given to him, regardless of whether they are right or wrong. Thats the challenge that comes with the crown...u dont do what u think is right, but what the party thinks is right.

  • Even presidential pardons?

And we all know the real reason Mbeki was kicked out, because Malema through his toys out his cot when he THOUGHT (had no proof) that Mbeki had something to do with the prosecution of Zuma, and that damn Zuma got away with it!!!

  • The majority of the ANC leadership did not want Zuma to face his charges, coz they believed they were politically motivated. Mbeki did nor support that and wanted Zuma to respect the judiciary and face the music in court....then the two centres of power began (Zuma camp & Mbeki Camp)

The presidential pardon is just announced by the pesident, but the decision is made by the Executive Council of the party. There's no decision that the president can make if his party doesnt support it!

  • And you believe it was ok for them to say that Zuma should not face his charges? Even the alleged tapes that apparently existed had NO evidence that the charges were false.

I blame South Africans and the ANC for defeating the ends of justice

  • Zuma was supposed to face his charges just like anybody else. Things went wrong when they were so desperate to get Zuma charged that they started manupulating the evidence and the information they received. That gave Zuma an allaby to use that as an excuse to escape court.

A lot of people who crossed the floor to COPE were people who were against Zuma, not the ANC. Not every ANC supporter believes in defying the ends of justice, corruption or even reverse racism.

  • Whats the point of Zuma having advisers if they are also corrupt. Proof of this is the termination of the Scorpions. Even if they were selective in prosecution, Id rather have some corrupt government officials in jail rather than none at all

  • Suid Afrika!!!!!!!! :)

i love my country, i eagerly await the day i return to my homeland!!! :)

i just wish all the racism could piss off lol!

as a white south african, i am fed up of being stereotyped as a racist!! open your eyes people, we're all one race!! :)

    Amen!

  • My point exactly and the same reason I am considering leaving SA

  • hmmm ja, but patriotism wins the battle in the end...

well, it did for me anyway!

  • What about SA is there to be patriotic about? Having Zuma elected as a president is a disgrace

  • just the traditions, music, scenery, sport!

the south african spirit, as this video is very well named :)

  • You seem to have so many answers for everything, yet you make no sense in some way. Yes i do live in th UK, but it's not my first choice! I live here with my wife! Any more questions?

Leaving SA for 2 months to go to Australia isnt really something to defend yourself with just so you know!

  • No need to get angry, was just a question, dont get so defensive. Also please reply to my comment directly next time, almost didnt see your response.

If you claim I dont make sense than at least point out specifically where you see it.

And why is being in Aus not something to defend myself with? Ive seen the country well enough to compare, and I cant see a single problem they have that is any where near as bad as we have in SA.

  • Not even remotely angry... just annoying that you think you know it all. The fact that you were in Aus isnt my point, my point was that you merelt left SA for 2 months. It took me years to know the good and bad things about Europe and I am still learning new things everyday. But nevermind, it's obvious that you know what's right and wrong. And I am sure you will be able to live with yourself!

  • If I was so wrong why are there so many South Africans that have left SA that have never looked back? Youre trying to make it sound that everyone that leaves SA realises later that SA is better in some way. I have spoken to emigrants as well.

Im always willing to listen, so why dont you tell me what you have learned from life in Europe.

  • I never said you are wrong. You have a sneaky way of turning words and suggesting things I never mentioned. Clever I must admit!

  • Im just struggling to see what point you are trying to make.

  • Haha, sux being you then! I have told you my point. I'm not going to repeat myself over and over again! And to be frank, you are really annoying! But above all, we are spamming some bloke's video with blah blah.

Good Video ProRSA! Know that there are many of us in the rest of the world that loves watching video's liek yours! keep it up china!

  • Wow, so much for people saying South Africans are friendly.

Why am I annoying you? All you said was each country has its ups and downs, you are very vague and Im a person that needs concrete facts

  • So your saying your point was that I should see the world for myself? Thats more a recommendation than a point.

Why cant you just tell me what you think I would learn so that I dont have to

  • I wanna ask one thing that maybe is why we arent seeing eye to eye.

Believe it or not I am happy in my day-to-day life in SA, its what I see in the media that gets me angry about SA. So my question is, knowing this, do you still think me living in another country will change my mind? I honestly wont mind what answer you give

  • Thank you, you make me proud. Afrikaan, Amsterdam.

  • i agree crime is everywhere in the world it just stands out more in SA because we have had such a terrible past. but as the video states we are what we are today because of what has happened. i have had my doubts about SA yes, i am abroad in the UK but you know what, there is still crime here and there will be no matter where in the world you travel to unless of course it is uninhabited ... SA you remain in my heart. South Africa, the land of the free... our land... die land van almal...

  • Why do people always say crime is everywhere? We know that but there is MUCH more violent crime in SA. And tell me, do people in the UK have burglar bars with high walls around their houses with electric fencing?

  • If only i could show this to the negative people in and outside of South Africa ! People will then believe

  • This video does not represent whats going on in SA. White people are not welcome in SA

  • stop being so ignorant, it's people like you that keep on crying over spilled milk that's holding our country back.

What do you gain from being racist??...

  • Im not racist, Im saying that the black people in SA are racist against white people

  • says who ? i'm white ! moron !

  • Says me, Im also white

  • Well,to bad for you then !

  • Your president said you are not truly African and no black people disagreed with him

  • 'sho', what a good video!! :)

  • I am a Afrikaaner living in Canada and i am very proud of my country

  • Why are you in Canada then?

  • ArionSA, mind me asking where you're from?

  • From South Africa, born and raised and still live in the same town I was born.

  • Figures, you're still in the same lil bubble you have been your whole live. Get out there, see the world and when you do... you will know the good we all see in South Africa...

  • Your mind is filled with some sort of hate towards something that has been created for you. Trust me bru, you will have a different outlook on things if you experience things in a different way. Every country in the world has their ups and downs. We as South Africans realises we arent the only ones with issues and problems, we can look past the so called bad things we think we know and just love the country we live or use to live in!

  • I have been around the country and I have stayed in Australia for 2 months so your accusation that I stay in a bubble is unfounded.

And the bad things I talk about are facts, also its not easy to love a country that you are obviously not welcome in.

For interest sake, you profile says that you are in the UK, so why are you in the UK if you love SA so much?

  • out of ALL the videos that i have looked at regarding home- THIS is the best! if some of you on here are looking for that ''hidden'' message, there aint one! I spoke to a kiwi guy last night (im in New Zealand until october) and he lived in SA for 3 years- this guys words were: the reason that you are such a proud nation, black and white, is because we have such diversity and so many different cultures that we are all SO proud of! 'saamstaan' ALMAL!! wit, swart fokken blou, we are all AFRICANS!

  • The president said English White South Africans are not 'truly African' and I never heard 1 black person disagree with him and stand up for the white people

  • that country is owned by blacks and going down into hell. RIP SA

  • be positive man-

  • How can I be positive? Your countrymen put a knife to my neck and stole 1300€ and camera. Open your eyes and face the truth !

  • Xaz88- I'm sorry to hear about what happened to you, truelly i am, BUT and the big BUT, this type of shit happens all over the world, you and I both know that, I have been living in NZ for the past year and a half, and have seen shit here too. as South Africans, most of us have been affected by crime in one way or another, BUT we have this common love and a forever hopeful attitude to the betterment of our home, we are one people. ps my eyes have always been open, thats why I'm going back!!

  • I find that hard to believe. What shit happens in NZ that is even remotely comparable to anything happening in SA?

  • I also get my negative days about this country! And I am not blind for its errors! Past and present! All I know is that South Africans of all colors love each other more than they care to admit! We have been doom prophesied so many times by the international community and even by ourselves! Yet we always pull through! If there is one country in Africa with a bright future it is SA! I am a white South African and VERY proud of my country!!!

  • You proud of a country that keeps voting the ANC in power and holding our country back?

  • ProRSA you are pro man/ma'm. me likes this. I'm sure you don't mind if I post it on my FB page, isn't it? :-)

  • you took e didn't ya? Jokes. I agree there is still slavery. but the laws are based on capitalism, not racism. at least there you have a better chance...

  • I am really confused at what the message of your video is...? Its good but I can't seem to find the underlying message in it.

  • The vid was made during the time of electricity crisis when all seemed, whats the word, dark? It was an indirect reply to the doomsday Sayers of the time like R3NDI3R. I then used the vid as an inspirational piece to show that we've actually been through worse so we can survive a simple electricity crisis... because of our south African spirit

  • I cant see any real achievements SA has made in this vid, I dont regard a few sporting victories as important

  • wtf is your problem? South Africa is what it is today because of people like you. Love SA, and be proud of it

en as jy dit nie like nie, dan sal ek dit in jou in moer.

  • How can you love a country that doesnt want you?

  • Regarding what's happening in SA nowadays, the apartheid was justified.

  • If only SA was so peacefull and joyous as this video shows....if only...

  • what a bunch of crock, the country is in its worst condition than ever. pretty lions, falgs medals and sunflowers dont change the fact that the people running your country are stearing the ship toward the rocks and have killed anyone on board who knew how to sail

  • From 28 Feb 2008 WALL STREET JOURNAL

"Over the past decade, South Africa implemented fiscal and structural reforms that are a case study in sound economic management for developing as well as developed countries. A lot of the credit goes to long-serving Finance Minister Trevor Manuel and his team. In his 12th yearly "Budget Speech" before parliament last week, Mr. Manuel once again carefully balanced policies that promote growth and alleviate poverty."

  • Continued...

"Though the government revised down the growth outlook for 2008 to 4% from 4.5% to take account of the global slowdown and the impact of electricity rationing, the outlook remains more favorable than it has been in several decades."

  • Aw, you are the answer to my dreams! After all the bigoted views by South Africans, which reinforce and aid proof as to why we get seen as racist pigs by the rest of the world, I find a video that shows us opposite! I don't watch any SA youtube videos but you definitely have me subscribed! Viva South Africa and viva to positivity!

  • Plz see: "Why are These People Screaming? South Africa".

  • It Looks Fantastic!!!

...On the surface, but the dream is no reality. They all ready have back up plans for FIFA in Germany, cause Im sure nobody wants to fly 12hours to watch football in the dark and risk getting raped or murderd. Do u think the trains will be safe and do u know how much they cost? We cant even afford new power stations and now talking about trains? It costs me R140 for 30km to go by train in EU. Can u answer plz how it will be possible? Then u will convince me completely.

  • Hi 00bhv: Why do you say "We can't even afford new power stations"? Don't you know of governments plan to erect new power station and bring on line mothballed stations?

WRT safety on trains: I don't know how much the train will cost. I don't think that the train will be safe if they are not policed properly. But if they implement a similar CCTV project on the trains like they did in the JHB CBD (see "Sky News: CCTV Success in Joburg.") It might help.

  • Hi 00bhv: You say "...On the surface, but the dream is no reality" Which dream are you referring to? WRT FIFA world cup backup plan in Germany: Don't they ALWAYS have backup plans for FIFA world cup events?

WRT watching soccer in the dark: During load shedding, Eskom deliberately turns on/off the lights in different areas. I don't think they will turn off the lights during a FIFA WC soccer match. But if the idiots do, then there should be backup generators at different stadia.

  • Sure ProRSA I feel you dawg, thanks for doing this :-) Lot of people out there putting us and the country down, regardless of what we went through to get here!!!

  • goosebump material, thanks for that!

  • nice one boet

  • Ngiyabonga for your support :)

  • So boet, when the war comes, whos side you gonna be on?

Come back to reality, dont forget why you left in the first place, Boet.

  • Why you evil little racist clutchplate

  • Why you little trator and chicken, racist? is that suppose to make me feel bad about myself, mmmhhh

  • NEVER EXSPECT A DEVIL TO HAVE A CONSCIENCE!if he did he wouln't be the devil; would he?

  • Hey, thats true... ima gonna use that one... :-)

  • Lol do you realy compare man with Devil? hahahahaha you must have missed byble study then, didn´t you? hahahahahaha

Judas is man, and Devil is not man, conscience is the thing that will eat ProRSA alive, from the inside out. Now go play with your toy in the street before i start asking you some questions.

  • Go ahead dude! Ask...

  • Since when is the Egg more clever than the Chicken?

Now dont make me wait forever on this simple question dude, tik tok tik tok, the clock is ticking, dude

  • I don't understand nor know the answer to your question.
