We have a long road ahead, yes, that is true. But every journey begins with the first step. The "rainbow" nation has has taken its first steps. We have seen the lows, just wait and see what highs we can acheive.... The road is long but we are on our way, we have despaired but never given up, for it is our spirit that makes us who we are-- South Africans.
This is by far the best video I have ever seen about SA. It acknoledges the bad past and the challenges our country faces. You made me cry. Thank you so much! No matter what anyone says, SA has potential to be one of the greatest countries in the whole world. If people can stop feeling sorry for themselves and understand that issues of crime affect every South African, and that not every black person agrees with JZ nor all white people with racism. Privilage clouds judgement!
When have we ever said that crime does not affect everyone? And 80% of black people agreed with JZ, thereby making a disgrace of SA and its people. How are we supposed to be proudly South African when SA voted a president like JZ?
And if there is any racism in SA its against white people, with BEE, Affirmative Action, etc.
In future, if you ever respond to anything I write, you will be careful of bringing unsubstantiated facts, fuelled by ignorance and a sense of entitlement to the fore. Who is 'we'? Where do you get your facts about 80% of black SA supporting JZ, and what if they agree with him? There certainly have been a few welcome surprises from him. Finally, if you think affirmative action is racism, then you are more deluded than I thought. Stop terrorising people, dont you have anything better to do!
By 'we' I mean people that find crime in SA unacceptable. And that 80% comes from very realistic assumptions, if we assume almost all ANC supporters are black, and ANC got 65% of the vote, and 80% of the country is black, then 65/80 = 80%. Therefore 80% of black people agree with JZ.
And there have been no 'welcome surprises' from him. 2ndly, i dont care, no prisoner has a chance to cancel out their bad deeds, so why should JZ be given the chance?
How about 80% agree with ANC policies, but not Zuma. Unlike the US, u cannot vote a person into power, but a party (based on their policies and vision)
Afirmative Action - It took more than 300years of crafting and practising apartheid in South Africa, it surely wont take 15yrs to fix all that. I really feel for white people in this country and understand their frustrations concerning BEE and AA.....but 'unfortunately' it has to be done to correct the inbalances of the past.
Actually they did vote Zuma into power, he alone has the power to do many things and wont need even hos parties permission to do so, eg presidential pardons, political appointments
He has to consult for EVERYTHING that he does, thats why he has advisers. Every decision that he makes, is a mandate from "his" party.
Thabo Mbeki was kicked out of the presidency cos he wanted to question and defy instructions given to him, regardless of whether they are right or wrong. Thats the challenge that comes with the crown...u dont do what u think is right, but what the party thinks is right.
And we all know the real reason Mbeki was kicked out, because Malema through his toys out his cot when he THOUGHT (had no proof) that Mbeki had something to do with the prosecution of Zuma, and that damn Zuma got away with it!!!
The majority of the ANC leadership did not want Zuma to face his charges, coz they believed they were politically motivated. Mbeki did nor support that and wanted Zuma to respect the judiciary and face the music in court....then the two centres of power began (Zuma camp & Mbeki Camp)
The presidential pardon is just announced by the pesident, but the decision is made by the Executive Council of the party. There's no decision that the president can make if his party doesnt support it!
And you believe it was ok for them to say that Zuma should not face his charges? Even the alleged tapes that apparently existed had NO evidence that the charges were false.
I blame South Africans and the ANC for defeating the ends of justice
Zuma was supposed to face his charges just like anybody else. Things went wrong when they were so desperate to get Zuma charged that they started manupulating the evidence and the information they received. That gave Zuma an allaby to use that as an excuse to escape court.
A lot of people who crossed the floor to COPE were people who were against Zuma, not the ANC. Not every ANC supporter believes in defying the ends of justice, corruption or even reverse racism.
Whats the point of Zuma having advisers if they are also corrupt. Proof of this is the termination of the Scorpions. Even if they were selective in prosecution, Id rather have some corrupt government officials in jail rather than none at all
You seem to have so many answers for everything, yet you make no sense in some way. Yes i do live in th UK, but it's not my first choice! I live here with my wife! Any more questions?
Leaving SA for 2 months to go to Australia isnt really something to defend yourself with just so you know!
No need to get angry, was just a question, dont get so defensive. Also please reply to my comment directly next time, almost didnt see your response.
If you claim I dont make sense than at least point out specifically where you see it.
And why is being in Aus not something to defend myself with? Ive seen the country well enough to compare, and I cant see a single problem they have that is any where near as bad as we have in SA.
Not even remotely angry... just annoying that you think you know it all. The fact that you were in Aus isnt my point, my point was that you merelt left SA for 2 months. It took me years to know the good and bad things about Europe and I am still learning new things everyday. But nevermind, it's obvious that you know what's right and wrong. And I am sure you will be able to live with yourself!
If I was so wrong why are there so many South Africans that have left SA that have never looked back? Youre trying to make it sound that everyone that leaves SA realises later that SA is better in some way. I have spoken to emigrants as well.

Can u answer plz how it will be possible? Then u will convince me completely.
Hi 00bhv: Why do you say "We can't even afford new power stations"? Don't you know of governments plan to erect new power station and bring on line mothballed stations?
WRT safety on trains: I don't know how much the train will cost. I don't think that the train will be safe if they are not policed properly. But if they implement a similar CCTV project on the trains like they did in the JHB CBD (see "Sky News: CCTV Success in Joburg.") It might help.
Hi 00bhv: You say "...On the surface, but the dream is no reality" Which dream are you referring to? WRT FIFA world cup backup plan in Germany: Don't they ALWAYS have backup plans for FIFA world cup events?
WRT watching soccer in the dark: During load shedding, Eskom deliberately turns on/off the lights in different areas. I don't think they will turn off the lights during a FIFA WC soccer match. But if the idiots do, then there should be backup generators at different stadia.
Sure ProRSA I feel you dawg, thanks for doing this :-) Lot of people out there putting us and the country down, regardless of what we went through to get here!!!
