@moshsanatory You have a good point there, but you should really watch Bonham play "Rock & Roll" live during their live film "The Song Remains The Same". Trust me on this - I've yet to see any other drummer play that song right. Straight, constant eighth-notes on kick, snare and hats at a tempo of probably around 180bpm, but with the accents in the right places to make it sound like a steady 4/4 beat. Basically, the proto-blast beat. Which is why he's still such an influence on drummers.

And I don't want the natural drums bleeding into the overheads and then mixing them into the triggered drum sounds because that would be a mess right? Should I just muffle the crap out of them? Please, this is really important and don't want to seem annoying :(

@ShittyMcPoopyBalls A interface is a device that transmit the analog signals, in this your mics and the mid signals from your triggers and drum module to the recording software.

Look for a M-Audio interface, there should be an Midi in and output, and 2 XLR inputs and thats all your need.

Foor killing the drums from the overheads you can turn the frequencies out from 600 to 800 hz. ( I don´t know if this is right.) Because your just trigger your set you could get mesh heads or just dampening.

@ShittyMcPoopyBalls To send midi datas you must turn thru off! Then connect a midi cable from the DM5 Midi Output to the M-audio Midi Input. If you doing this you need software like Ezdrummer because it sends just midi notes, not the sound you´re hearing.

I don´t know these CAD Mics, I have AKG P 17 Overheads and these are not as pricey but they are awesome mics. Get some Brand mics like AKG or Sontronics or samsons, 4espritdrummer is using them and the sound really nice and are not pricey.

I'm not saying he's BAD, just that this is fairly cookie-cutter metal drumming. That kind of drumming DOES require immense skill and precision, but this is nothing new.
