Dan Rather really needs to just go into retirement and stop talking in public. For someone who made a career out of communications in the media he is amazingly inarticulate. Just listen to him stumble over his own words, the unfinished sentences strung together, the disjointed syntax of his every statement. And to end by saying that our first black president "couldn't sell watermelons" is about the worst phrasing he could possibly have used. Dan's mind appears to be a series of brain farts.

@FavreianVengeance Well you must be a family member then because I just listened to the clip once more and he still sounds like his brain is misfiring on every third word coming out of his mouth. And to say of the first black president that "he couldn't sell watermelons" is beyond stupid in our modern age of political correctness. What's next? Will he refer to him as "our first nigger president"?

There it is. There's your bias. You think just b/c Rather said he couldn't sell watermelons he is racist and you've taken your contempt for him and pretended the rest of his statements are unintelligible when that is just completely untrue. Honestly, I think Dan Rather is a sell-out journalist (like the rest of them). But I'm not going to let my hate for the man cloud the reality.

@FavreianVengeance "Cloud the reality"? The reality is that Dan Rather talks like he's got mush in his mouth. I don't hate the guy but I think he should retire completely from broadcasting. He was once a great journalist, but now he's an embarrassment. Maybe he can open up a watermelon farm as a retirement project.

CBS forced him out in 2006 when it was discovered that he was peddling a false hit piece on Bush during 2004. Like I say, I think Rather a complete tool, but when it comes to calling someone a racist over some stupid little shit, I'm not going to go there. And the truth is that certain black anchors like Bryant Gumble who have made overtly more racist statements on the air are getting paid multimillion dollar paychecks. American journalists are cogs or sellouts.
