This amazingly beautiful, both visually and emotionally, movie went virtually unnoticed. When I saw it was the same director/writer of "Dangerous Liaisons...I knew it would be a fantastic film. (The director, Stephen Frears, also directed "The Queen". This movie is no less then perfect, except... it made me fall madly in love with Rupert Friend. Now I compare all my pathetic dates to Rups.
This movie will break your heart. I'd read the novels before I saw it, so I knew what I was getting myself into, but Rupert and Michelle did such great work that you want someone to wind up happy in the end. Of course, no one does as happens so many times in life.
wthell, i haven't seen this movie yet...but based off of clips, rupert friend looks amazing in this! yet he never gets any praise, not even in young victoria though he was also wonderful in it. emily blunt got all the praise, albeit deservedly. i get that it's michelle pfeiffer but still...hm but then again, rupert doesn't seem to mind all that much so i guess it doesn't matter. maybe he's in it merely for the parts.
@behbiichibal i agree. i thought they were both amazing in the young victoria, but rupert didn't get any credit for his part. he's great in every role he's ever been in but i want to see more of him :(
hmm...it seems that Michelle pfeiffer likes to ply in movies where the guys she loves are younger than her,like this movie and personal effects(great movie)
@naseralnowais Yes and the film makers did a great job it was colourful and the cinematography was beautiful but the story was extremely anticlimatic and boring. And by boring I mean nothing was exciting it as all so slow going and slightly depressing.
@naseralnowais But don't get me wrong I can very well handle slower going movies and sometimes anticlimatic endings are refreshing and different. And i personally find darker and sadder movies a bit more entertaining. But this trailer tells you something completely different. They made it look like it was a heartfelt and odd but pleasing love story.
@naseralnowais They make it look upbeat with happy music and showing parts with people enjoying themselves and laughing. That was exactly the kind of movie i was looking forward to the night I rented it and i was excited because the trailer had made it look so enjoyable. But the entire thing was just disappointing, boring, and annoying. I was definately unhappy with this movie.
@naseralnowais P.S. Just to ruin for anyone who actually wants to see this shit... in what seems like the middle of the movie a nararators voice comes on and says "Then Cheri shot himself in the head" and the fucking credits roll.
